Getting these convictions required evidence from the lower-downs, and the lower-downs had to be identified in videos and located, etc. etc. These guys haven't been sentenced yet, but this is the phase of the trial where they'll sing like canaries to get lower sentences. DOJ's gotten more convictions under Garland than any AG in history. He's hardly a failure. Many don't seem to appreciate what time-consuming work these prosecutions are. All of the work Jack Smith is doing now is just the final stages of cases that Garland prepared for him and handed over.

He tried to make what he did sound so dramatic by describing the injuries to police officers. He repeated the promise he made after 1/6, but didn't explain why he sat on his ass in regards to the likes of Meadows, McCarthy, Trmp, et al, until embarrassed by the accomplishments of the 1/6 Congressional committee. Only then did he start looking into the head of the snake, and even then, delayed by appointing a special counsel. Someone who was ill, and in another country.
Nothing new. Absolutely nothing.

How about holding the suits accountable? Not one has been held accountable.
Crime family crimes like this have to be prosecuted from the bottom up. First the get the foot soldiers to testify against people like these leaders. Then they get these leaders to testify against the capos like Stone and Eastman. Meanwhile DOJ is building a stack of 1000s of affidavits that convicted criminals were only doing the crime because Trump told them to. We need as many of those affidavits as possible because historically, Incitement is only chargeable if the person is on-scene instructing the crowd. Garland has a difficult case here as he'll need to convince the court and jury that Trump was inciting the crowd even though he wasn't actually on-scene. I think this will be doable--but hard. To have the best possible chance they'll need to most possible evidence, so expect it to take more time.
They f'd around with the peaceful transfer of power and found out.
They are only just beginning to find out, it's all downhill from here.

It seems he was meeting up with the CIA director. So that's why they won't release the full clientele list. Where's the justice for those innocent girls?

@@rosaliebent4833 I know of someone who has had a pending case against them (it was made by a bad actor) that started in 2018 or 2019 that just recently made it to the appeals stage. Unfortunately, it takes time and the pandemic didn’t help matters.

What makes you think DOJ has been too timid? Investigations are normally secret. I don't think Elie can possibly know what he's talking about. There are dozens of ex-DOJ commentators on TV with contacts in the department and not a single one is reporting that insiders grumble that Garland is going too slow. Elie doesn't mention any such people either.

I literally told them that on FB after the attack, and they didn't respond well. I'm sure they are even more agitated now. But their focus should be elsewhere in these moments.
I almost feel like after all This time of criticizing Garland and thinking he doesn't know what he's doing I kind of feel like after his speech he knows exactly what he's doing. I feel like he is conscious of being a historical figure in that no one can ever go back and say that he was on one side or the other. That he didn't follow the absolute rule of law. After seeing that and hearing him remind us of his promise during his confirmation I feel like this guy can be trusted. Us thinking his dragging his feet makes him crooked instead I feel like is him dotting every 'i' and crossing every 't'. Good for him. I hope I feel the same way in a month or two. 😜
exce[pt that after over two years he has done virtually NOTHING. the Jan 6 committee did far far more than DoJ and it is only now there is a special counsel that doesn't need Garland's permission, that anything is happening. He is timid and this is not a time for timidity. quite the opposite.
