Glad I caught this video before going to stealer ship. Took that switch off and it was soaked in water, blew it dry, and put dielectric grease instead of silicone. So far so good, no more flickering.
Thanks for this video! Had the exact same issue tonight. Couldn't find any info online and stumbled across this video. It was exactly the cause! Working good now that I let it dry.
Great video, I have also encountered that problem, but it wasnt the issue. On the passenger side, there is a plug. It's a large plug. As a result of the same thing, condensation, the plug gets corroded. It's the harness to the bunk. Also, I have had people complain of leakage inside the cab. Believe it or not we, the driver creates the condensation. It ends up collecting in nooks and crannies and that's where it comes from. This is a real issue when In humid climates. When idling and running the ac or bunk heater, crack a window just a tiny bit. Actually, when running the ac you should always crack a window just 1/4 of an inch. It will actually cool better because of the circulation. Just trying to help, thanks for sharing your info as its helped so many people. Peace
For anyone who just finds this video I have an extra cheat to add. This is the problem 100%, what the video says. You can circumvent a wet circuit board in the switch box. Up front on the console above the cup holder, you have a switch box with a dome switch and utility light switch. Pull that switch box and take out two of the switches and put the bunk light switches from the switch box above the AC controls in the bunk, plug the two white plugs back in and the switches should work. (Note if the switches are wet inside this may not work) The switches are limited to the function printed on them, they have a circuit board and will only work what they are ment to work. (You can swap a bunk light switch for another switch) This video saved my 10 today, it get toasty af with those lights on, in Florida.
I've got a 2017 that I've put 450k on. Have had issues with the done lights in the sleeper before. Today was the first time I had the dash lights flicker and the engine light come on. Hoping this is all it is. Good find, brother.
THIS IS CORRECT 100% I JUST FIXED THE SAME PROBLEM BY DOING THE SAME EXACT THING. THE AC DRIPS WATER ON TO THE BUNK SWITCH CAUSING IT SHORT OUT. DRIVERS THIS IS THE 100% THE FIX SAVE YOURSELF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DRIVERS....
No joke this just saved my ass. I popped open bunk switches and they’re wet. I disconnected the bunk switches from behind the hazard switch up front and it fixed the problem at first, but now I disconnected the back light switches and reconnected the front switch, I’ll wait til it’s dry and silicone it. Thanks
Just happened the same problem with my truck right now all the sleeper light stopped working and some switch in the dashboard stopped working engine light comes on Freightliner Cascadia 2016 I just parked my truck then waiting for the morning engine off no AC working until morning to make sure if there's water coming out over the switch to get dry . Thank you for this video
Still the same no sleeper lights working and some switch on the dashboard not working engine light on . But I'm driving my truck with the engine light on but the speed normal I can go 65 or 70 no speed drop down. I looked at the sleeper switch keys this morning I didn't see a sign of water coming out around the switch keys . Just confuse
On my 2021 Freightliner that I drive, when the dome lite goes on and off, I disconnected the negative battery cable on the truck. Wait 5-10 minutes, then reconnected so the computer rebooted itself. Cab dome light works normally now.
So my lights never flickered but I have condensation in my closet area. So the ac problem makes sense but it's not wet in there. My dome light works when it wants to buy my bunk lights just stopped working. What could be the problem?
I have 3 switches 1 up top and 2 on the bottom, mine is dry and still doesn't work, do you know where I can get a new switch control. I'll try unplugging and re plugging it and see if it works. Also in a pinch you can unplug the far right switch where your hazard button is. But still doesn't fix bunk light issue just allows the engine brake to work and removes check engine light.
I’m having the same problems but no water at the control panel in the sleeper maybe it’s something going on at the control in the front that may have gotten wet.
My 2021 does the same thing only the dome light though and yes it’s a dual switch set up but the ac vent is lower and to the left of the switches in the sleeper
That really sucks. This is why I hate these new computer linked trucks. All the wiring is linked together, so if one thing fails it affects the entire system. Dumbest design ever.
Hey can you help me with my bunk mute button in the sleeper... a couple of days ago I realized that I had accidentally turned the bunk mute on because I wasn’t getting sound from the subs in the bunk on the roof. Then after I flipped the switch back to the normal position I still have no sound in the bunk. I look at the fuses and they are all good. I have a 2017 and yes the switches are still there
So that is not the only reason this can happen I was parked with the truck shut off and the lights over the Dash came on I turned the key on and shut it off open the door close the door turn the key on shut it off and they finally went out then a couple hours later the forward bunk light came on and will not shut off I found this video and I checked the switches in the bunk they are dry the AC has not been leaking on them but it is raining out so obviously there is a leak in the passenger window running water down into the fuse box and causing the same type of short this can happen for other reasons but this did help me rule out this particular reason thank you for the help I have a 2016 Cascadia now I just have to tear into the dash in the middle of the night and find out where to dry it
Man someone help me out with my issue none of the sleeper roof lights work Checked all fuses and took this panel switch thing out it only has 1 small plug on right side and one big plug in middle theres a extra wire in there that has 2 prong entrance but the spot it goes into is a 3 prong
Thank. You! What's your cash app bro? Tryna share some savings witcha! Traced the problem to my upper bunk sleeper light control, and deleted it. So far so good. Know of guys who spent a couple hondo and a week downtime rewiring it. Keep making vids guy!!

Never thought about that. I DO have that problem when running the AC. Thanks and I'll definitely have to try that
Can you show me the plug you're talking about jic this doesn't work for me.. tia
2020 Model still doing the same thing bro, straight BS 💯 That freightliner haven't correct this crap in 10yrs‼️ Thank you for figuring it out ✌️😎💯
2018 cascadia. Just got it and it starts doing this. No problem, quick youtube search and bang! Thank you so much!

Thanks and yea I found it can happen in the sleeper or from the vents on the front dash, problem is just finding which wire exactly. Hope it helped.
Dude...your new name is "Jesus" thanks a ton, 80,000 of em.
Anytime, glad it helped

Thanks for the information literally save myself down time and money....
Life saver brother I appreciate the info. My mouth dropped when I followed your steps lmao.
Thank you so much sir...this just happened to me at 2am on98 in Alabama..fixed the problem...great vid
Glad it helped
Your the man. Thanks a lot you saved me a headache trying to figure this one out.

I'm glad it helped you. Anytime.
Definitely works and fix my electrical problems !!!Thanks!!!
Thank you 🙏 your video helped me and I save money 💰

You are right on. I found some water condensation. Remove the plug and let it right. Thank you
Thank you for the information and video, this helped me a lot ,i had the same issue .
Anytime, glad it helped

Only thing I can think is maybe corrosion in the switch contacts. If that's not it, it might be a different problem
Thanks for the reply ..
Switch contact the one back in in the sleeper the one you showing in your video ?
That's what I'm thinking. Only thing I can think of

You gave me the right solution thanks 🙏
FKN amazing!!!
Thank you (also the 2017 model lol
4 years dealing with this issue)
Thank you I had that problem and you helped me out thank you
Glad it helped
I have a columbia, wasnt the ac, but rather a leak somewhere near the bunk controls when its raining, thought my whole power system was on the fritz.
So my lights never flickered but I have condensation in my closet area. So the ac problem makes sense but it's not wet in there. My dome light works when it wants to buy my bunk lights just stopped working. What could be the problem?

I'm having a problem with my interior lights not coming on when I open the door. Thinks it's the same problem?
I’m having the same problems but no water at the control panel in the sleeper maybe it’s something going on at the control in the front that may have gotten wet.
Thanks so much. Really appreciate this information.
Do need to spray the front as well or once I do the sleeper everything in the front will work?
Thank you for puting this out there i happen to be haveing thais issue as im typing this.
No problem
Thank you , good information. 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm having a similar problem with my 2021cascadia: interior cab dome light fades on and fades off. Help.
What wrong if you sleeper lights won't come on would it be the same issue
My 2021 does the same thing
only the dome light though
and yes it’s a dual switch set up but the ac vent is lower and to the left of the switches in the sleeper
My front reading light keeps coming on. I am so tired of turning it off now just leaving it on.
That really sucks. This is why I hate these new computer linked trucks. All the wiring is linked together, so if one thing fails it affects the entire system. Dumbest design ever.
Where can you buy the switches to replace it?
Thanks a lot ! I thought a ghost was messing with me.
Anytime. Yea it's just a common defect. Now I'm in a 2016 again and gotta fix this one all over again lol 😂
I have a 2017 and yes the switches are still there
What about dielectric grease? I'd rather do that then seal the pigtail inside the switch with adhesive... Thanks for the advice though, man.
I have the same layout in my 17 I just havent had the water issue in the sleeper

I'm having that issue now in my 2015 cascadia
Yea it's pretty common in these trucks. I got a 2016 now and I'm waiting on this one to do the same thing
Really helpful video 👍
