But hwasa, it feels like she said 'i'm not here to please you, I'm here to celebrate my body and it's uniqueness and I choose what I want to wear and what i don't want to wear"
Mamamoo is the first kpop girl group that piqued my interest because they were so vastly different than others. One of the things that stood out to me most was how different they all were individually, but they still functioned beautifully as a unit. And even as a unit, their personalities still shine.

Mamamoo has paved the way for self expression. They've never been scared of voicing their opinions and honestly speaking out. I really respect them as human beings too. They're talented, confident and the best girl group!
Mamamoo would’ve been headlining world wide just like bts if they’d come from a bigger company or one that focuses on promotion better. These women are trailblazers which makes their path harder than those who conform to what the industry and society says they should look like and be. Not saying you're wrong, but the other thing holding them back is no songs in English. Wonder Girls took the world by storm with one English language song. Imagine how big Mamamoo would be with a dozen English songs.
@@anonygent music is called the universal language for a reason lol if that was a true barrier latin/reggae/ton music wouldn’t be as popular as it is. SKZ/Blackpink/bts/Jackson/jay park ect. Wouldn’t have even been able to cross international lines which in the industry is known as red tape. As someone who spends time in the studio mamamoo has that IT quality/sound that transcends the “language” barrier. Hell DEAN is known as the R&B king of korea, came to the US and did multiple features with some pretty big names in the industry regardless of it being in English or korean. Hwasa has a “feel good” song written in English that wasn’t even promoted. That whole project received half the promotion that Maria did and it was damn good. The industry has ways of stonewalling artists and mamamoo experiences this via promotion.

Look at SKZ ticket sales and all their songs were sung in Korean during their US tour and they SOLD OUT lol imagine the projected ticket sales of JYP didn’t promote the hell out of them?? now as far as networking goes meeting other artists to collab with who are English speaking would be hard but again look at DEAN, no large company but has songs with US hitters like Anderson paak, Eric bellinger ect. With a language barrrier. Mamamoo had VERY little promo for all their world tours outside of small IG posts here and there. That’s nothing and yet they’re STILL filling up areas. Marketing plays a huge role in the success of any artist. Go listen to a Sean Paul song and tell me if you can understand anything that man ever says and yet he is a legend in the US. His music was promoted everywhere. Reality is their company has terrible marketing tactics when it comes to mamamoo. It’s like they are just enjoying sitting on a possible gold mine. Oh and another thing mamamoo has topped destiny’s child as one of the highest selling girl groups. 😂 their language isn’t the problem, poor management is. Gift harmony didn’t even beat that record and majority of those girls were just as attractive and talented

Something not mentioned in the video is that their personalities are amazing! They have such amazing stage presence and have great chemistry with each other. If you go to any of their concerts you’ll feel their energy with each other and with the audience!! They really act like a family and always have fun no matter what! They’re always comfortable when they’re with each other!
Their songs and vocals are what drew me, but their unique personalities and powerful dynamic are what kept me stanning them!!!
They actually sing live give charismatic performances and the HARMONIES! They are a real group! The only group I’ve stanned after 2ne1. They remind me more of a western group than a kpop one.

There are only four groups that I have really noticed over the past decade or so and that is, Mamamoo, red velvet, Dreamcatcher and (G)I-dle.
AKMU for certain tracks, because they don't follow what I call the cut and paste, probably not as prevalent now, but it seemed that once you have heard one group you have heard them all, I know that there is so much amazing talent out there, but i did notice at one time, the company would take years to train members in a group then not allow them to use that training, they had to follow orders.
Mamamoo really stuck out for me on more than one occasion, they really did it their way with full support of the Company I really Appreciate that as they can be called artists. Thanks RBW for allowing Mamamoo to be that group

I'm mostly a metal head... but Mamamoo is the GOAT of kpop. They hooked me with Mr. Ambiguous and Piano Man though. The old school feel was amazing, but they've tried every genre and have nailed it every time. Also, the rock backed remixes on I Am Mamamoo: The Best are amazing. Most kpop live performances are.... not very good, no matter how good they sound in the studio, but Mamamoo rocks live, and hopefully I'll be seeing them soon.

MAMAMOO was the group that got me *into* kpop. I had listened to other kpop groups but it was more on an individual song basis. Their songs are all amazing to listen to but I think it really was their creativity that stood out for me. The music videos were all so unique and entertaining to watch, their outfits and unique songs made each comeback special, and the overall group dynamic is something that is not as easily seen with other groups. I watched them in concert recently and my love for them only grew. Lovely video!
I feel mamamoo and (g)- idle are two of the kpop groups that are changing things in the industry bcs both are challenging something I can't help but think 2ne1 is proud of these 2 groups too bcs they were some of the ones who also started the change

I don't know if they were the first or the only ones, but they were at least one of the reasons that kpop shows have thelyrics of the songs on the screen, so deaf fans can have fun, too.
On the other hand: If you pook the bear... look at MMA 2019. If someone disrepects them they don't bow down, they kick back hard. Starting with Hwasas PD twit and her pinting the camera, then the "Ain't no love in this party" banner, then their "cut, cut, cut" on stage and last but not least Solars smirk singning the door of the car and not the window.

They may be one of the few girl groups that it's fan base is mostly women and young girls, all thanks to how they inspirate their fans by being confident and to love themselves.
this is why i don’t think i can stan another group after they disband. i’ve tried looking for others but they ALWAYS lack in certain areas. whether that be vocals, writing credits, singing live or general chemistry as a group, simply no one is like mamamoo.

These are the reasons why I love them so much. I saw them in Atlanta yesterday and just cried when they came out. I've been waiting for so long and they talked about how surprised they were to see so many people supporting them. It touched my heart so much 😭

I fell in love with Mamamoo the first time I heard one of their songs. After watching behind the scenes footage as well as interviews they quickly became my number 1 favorite female kpop group (they are actually way more than just kpop.)
Some of the reasons I fell in love with this group are the ones mentioned in this video. I love and admire there positive, love yourself messages. As someone who had an eating disorder growing up, and sometimes still struggling, hearing them talk about body positivity helps the way I might be feeling. I also love how they are not afraid to be different. So many times, in order to fit in or feel accepted, we might conform to the standards set by society. However, only by being your true self can you truly be happy. As a Moomoo in their 30's I also love their more mature vibe. Sometimes some kpop just feels to bubble gum pop or to cutesy for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying those other groups or songs are bad, they are very talented. I just gravitate more towards other types of music. Seeing Mamamoo in concert last week was amazing and I will never forget it. I hope they continue giving us amazing songs and performances for years and years to come and that they keep being true to themselves and keep promoting body positivity that can influence and help more people, as well as younger idols or performers .
Mamamoo is and will always be my favourite K-Pop group. They are just themselves. They raise flags, fight against standarts and know how to properly excuse after making mistakes.
Their vocals are amazing. I also love how fun they are with choreo. They're so unserious and authentic and joyful during live performances and I love that. They seem to really enjoy and love each other.

i went to see them yesterday and it was literally the best concert i’ve been to in my life.
By nature, all K-Pop groups are contrived since they are built by the agencies that sign them. However, MAMAMOO is more organic in several ways. First was the pre-existing friendship of the Jeonju sisters, Whee-in & Hwasa, that started in middle school with the dream of becoming an idol act together. Secondly, although Solar & Moonbyul started out a bit antagonistic, their friendship has grown stronger through the years together and everyone can see the strong mutual love and respect Yong Sun and Colleague 1 share now. Together, their performances/talents are stellar and their joyful sense of humor is a saving grace for any group to have and helps them relate even better with the moos.
Their closeness and their individuality allows MAMAMOO to be more resilient and creative than most K-Pop groups. Although RBW gets a lot of deserved criticism, you have to grant that RBW enabled them to join together and allowed them to be more proactive in their careers (mostly due to budgetary reasons) as a smaller agency. In short, the conditions that brought MAMAMOO together and shaped them have been amazingly fortunate. But like all great acts/organizations, their inner strength has a big part in sustaining that luck. As they leave their nest for new ventures, I continue to support and cheer on my favorite K-Pop group and I feel confident they'll stick together even if they are all on different agencies.

I love Mamamoo, they are really popular in Korea because of their cultural/industry impact, but i wish more foreingers appreciate them. When i got a bit bored of k-pop because every group felt the same, Mamamoo came in with these four wonderful girls who were brave enough to be themselves, to get things done. I know this might be because their company let them some more freedom copared to other groups, but is just so easy to connect with them because they are so down-to-earth and relatable.
Their story and carreer might not be the happiest, but it's an amazing exaple of how be true to yourself and working hard enough for your convictions can get you there.

This reminds me that Moonbyul was recently cancelled for supposedly being fatphobic with another idol, when she literally just told her not to worry about those comments and not to stress too much about extreme dieting when the choreography and exercise she does is more than enough.
Solar also conducted a campaign for intimate health, as well as conducted interviews with war veterans.
Also in hip they invited drag artists to participate and let's not forget when they were the only k-pop group to perform at a comic book event that was being cancelled because they openly supported the lgbt+ community.

I love how they share their individuality, I’ve always hated the typical matching looks from K-pop groups Mamamoo from early on tried to show that they are a harmonious group that works so well together by letting their individual light shine and that’s why I love them.

From debut it was love at first site and first listen. I was so amazed at how they took up the vocal prowess mantra after the demise of SPICA and took it to the next level. On top of that the are just genuinely lovely, talented, creative and incredibly entertaining.

MAMAMOO came to rock the superficial world of Kpop with TALENT. Pretty faces without talents have gone out of style, thanks to MAMAMOO's vocal and self-produced talent, more groups are daring to highlight their talent.
i blame their company for lack of promotion and vision. them making mamamoo experimental with their music is good but they should keep something consistent like their harmonies i mean them slowly loosing their root is what getting me frustrated. harmonization is their biggest selling point which something that they company should keep. but now its all ruin and i know mamamoo didnt want to disband just hope that they will find a company that actually know how to cultivate their talents as a group.

All 4 members of Mamamoo are excellent individuals, it's a shame they didn't have concerts around the world sooner. I got to know K-Pop through Big Bang, T-Ara, and now Mamamoo is the girl group that makes me stay. I like listening to their live performances more than listening to their official MVs.
I went to their Mycon concert in Seoul a couple months ago, if u can still get tickets for their world tour concerts, GET THEM!

In the past 10 years there are not that many reasonably successful kpop groups that also clearly breaks the typical mould or standard of their time. Dreamcatcher is always analysis worthy. I think (G)-Idle always follow their own (or Soyeons) path. I think what unites those three is that the idols themselves have high degree of influence on the overall creative process. Most K-pop band simply does what the company tells them to do, which doesn't have to be a bad thing, but it makes it less interesting to analyze them as artists. I would welcome some deep diving videos about some of the kpop producers.

@@KPecha Teddy obviously. Kpop wouild not be what it is today without Teddy. Black Eye Pilseung (The guy Behind STAYC), Min Hee-jin who is the brand manager behind New Jeans would be fun. Heavily involved in Girls Generation and Red Velvet before. Obviously a genius when it comes to branding. Brave Brother is another name (AOA, Brave Girls etc.). Ollounder Leez who write and produce most stuff for Dreamcatcher, Ateez and Kard.
If you want another idea for a video. For each group. Which is the one member (or two) they could not afford to loose. Who is the one in each group that keeps the fans on their toes and if he/she leaves, the group will die. Who is the soul of the group? I guess in some cases it is obvious and clear on the surface. (G)-Idle for example. If Soyeon leaves the group is gone. End of discussion. But is she really the single reason for their success? I think not. Twice is super interesting. JYP is a genius for putting them together and Sixteen was very cleverly put together to let the audience think they had anything to do with it. He made one hickup which he rectified in the end by bringing Momo back. He needed a main dancer. But if you look closer. If you forced him to start removing members which 2-3 would be left in the end. Which are the ones he definately cannot loose? After watching Sixteen I'm pretty sure there was 2 members that he was sure of already before the show started. Additionally 6 he was sure of after 1-3 episodes and all he needed to see was how they reacted in the quite harsh TV-show/public eye context He had maybe 8-10 in mind for those 6 spots. The rest of the show was simply to give the audience enough time to fall in love with the girls and vote forward the ninth member.

Nah! Britney was born to perform on the stage her strong point was her confidence and eye catching performance, that girl owned the stage at the age 18 like she was performing for a decade! And her fame did not come from social media… Mainstream K-pop groups are nowhere comparable to her.

4 years ago i was really against getting into kpop industry. but then i learned about mamamoo. they showed me the other side of it and to this day they're my favorite group.
