Very hard to get a Sigma sdr-28mle now..Only so many made...It has the same solid woods and is made with the Martin d28 1937 vintage in mind £6000 +.. Love too hear them both played together .....
thank u very much for this accurate comparison! Excellent playin!!! In my opinion the major difference consist in harmonics maybe due to different finish and wood quality... Anyway Sigma guitar are very good for price range
Sigma guitars WERE made by Martin some time ago, now operated by a German company called 'AMI Musical Instruments GmbH', Martin sold Sigma in 2007. Were made in Japan until 1983, now made in China. Good guitars if you ask me. I just purchased a Martin OMCPA4, but I plan to buy a Sigma Jumbo (copy of the J200...)
no, they are not and never have been. Sigma was started by CF Martin in 1970 but first built in Japan and later Korea, Taiwan etc... Then they were no sold for a number of years and only a few years ago, AMI in Municg, Germany bought the name and the rights to sell it from Martin except for the USA I think. They are now being built in China and they are great guitars. We have 4 Martin's and 5 Sigma's at home to play for the family. Just ordered one of these DR28MLE with a solid Adirondack top and solid back and sides of real Madagascar Rosewood, something the Martin HD28 does not have... so, hard to compare the two guitars as they are completely different!
@@d35s2 One of the better comments...The Sigma sdr28mle would be better compared with the Martin d28 1937 vintage model..same woods all round..same nut width ..same looks etc.. etc..however..huge..price difference..over £5000.. My sdr28mle is a keeper..great sound..hard to get hold of now
I acquired a DR-35 Sigma manufactured in Japan in the 80's. All I can say is that the sound is superb and it would be the last guitar in my collection that I would sell. To the gentleman playing in this demo: Wow. Just fabulous playing!
AMI (Sigma) guitars are the gems of the guitar industry . For the money they play well above their cost . Yamaha is another one , and I’m sure there are more that deserve a serious look .
Amazing playing! While the Sigma doesn't sound 'as good' as the Martin, it does sound really good in it's own right. And for £2000 less that's incredibly impressive
Probably the Sigma has to open up a little more than the Martin as the Sigma has the special Adirondack spruce top whle the Martin has a sitka spruce top. Also the Sigma has the special Madagascar Rosewood while the Martin has Indian Rosewood back and sides, quite different guitars. I love that Sigma and have ordered one.
I just ordered this Sigma SDR-28. Very nice guitar playing =) While I realize this is not a Martin, this video has made me very excited to receive the guitar. I have a Taylor GC-8 that I don't really want to travel around with so I figure this will be a good camp fire and travel guitar. Anyone care to share their experience with the new Sigmas?
Here you are. :) Eng. (something like that): "The both guitars perfectly for bluegrass and country music. Of course on this guitars you can play in different genres. In my opinion Martin has more soft sound, more smooth. Sigma has over higher mids sound, but of course it's can be a dignity of instrument (in my opinion). You can play on this guitar swing or jazz-manouche. If we will talk about price, the both guitars justify its price (both guitars justify A-class). I can say that everybody of us feel a sound and music not only by hands or head, but also by all body too. I suggest you just take the instrument and try it, and make their own conclusions already. But I'm sure you will like the both guitars, and I'm sure it will be difficult to choose the best for you." - Nikolai Grigoriev, guitar player. I hope that you understand the translation. Tim
Thank you for the translation! Note that the different is ounds also comes from the difference in woods used. The Sigma has a solid Adirondack top, the Martin a Sitka top, while the Sigma has solid Madagascar back and sides and the Martin the usual Indian Rosewood B&S.
Nice playing. In your recording the Sigma sounded less boomy than the Martin and also lesser volume. When fingerstyle played it had a very sweet komplex tone. What do you think about the SDR-28MLE? Is it a good guitar for the money?
Tom Cruiser The wood are different... sdr28h has sitka top and indian rosewood back and sides, sdr28mle has adirondack top and madagascar rosewood back and sides
Very nice playing indeed, ok the Martin does have the edge.....slightly richer tone with a little more bass but for a Chinese made guitar of less than half the price of the Martin I think the Sigma stood it's ground. This model being one of the all-solid wood range from Sigma guitars.
P.S. ... Ciao!
Excellent playing. It showcases just how different the tone is. The Sigma is missing the mojo. Perhaps most notable on the open chords, but really I hear it throughout. However, even a mediocre guitar won't hold back great palling from shining through and you sir can do more with that Sigma than I'll ever be able to with my Martin. However my playing could use all the help it can get and the Martin does help.
Amazing playing. To my ears the Martin has way more dynamic range and that organic typical Martin 'mid bump' and that signature resonant ringing sound. Although the sigma sound good on it's own, to my ears is not even in the same ballpark compared to the Martin. That is a bummer, because the Martins are so expensive. If the sigma would have that same magic , I would buy one in an instant, because I don't really care what is on the headstock.
Can someone translate what did he say? As I understand he is talking that instrument doesn't have to be premium or expensive to play well, something like that?

Detto questo però ci sarebbe da valutare se entrambe le chitarre avessero le stesse corde e se hanno gli stessi anni...!!!
