Even if he did everything for revenge it doesn't change the fact that it was thanks to his plan that Weiying was able to be brought back to life, clear his name, have a 2nd chance at happiness and end up with Lanzhan. This is why I was sad for him in the end. He was all alone doing the 1 thing he hates (be a sect leader). He was a nice & friendly boy at the start but he was force to change to avenge his brother and to survive in that world just like how Weiying was just a carefree teenager originally but he had to change and be a Demonic Cultivator to survive. I don't understand fans who dislike NHS. Most characters have killed anyway.

And fear. I just love him sm. Not bad, not good, totally morally gray
Go watch a c-drama called "The Rise of Phoenixes" there's a character in that drama that's a lying mastermind but we get to be in his point of view. There's also an anime called Yona of the Dawn that has a mastermind character. Not as intense as Huaisang or the other one I mentioned but he's a really good at acting sweet when he has an agenda of his own.

Nie Huiasang is the real main character of MDZS, you can't change my mind. He played the game he never wanted to be a part of to get the justice he deserves. MDZS plot after WWX's death will not exist if not for NHS's scheme.
Also some people say he's weak or that he had to make others do the work, but many things tend to prove that he must actually be quite the powerful cultivator, who has mastered the demonic arts to an important degree. Indeed, he was the one who linked Nie Mingjue's arm with Jin Zixun's head through a spell, and WWX himself said only a skilled demonic cultivator could've done it. Moreover he also managed to free Wen Ning from his prison. Finally Mingjue's arm was extremely ferocious and hard to control, yet Huaisang must have managed to keep it under control before he started his whole plan. Anyway Huaisang is awesome. If there was a single character I had to choose for which I want to know what happens next, it'd be him.

Because a protagonist is the one who gets the most attention in a story. And NHS doesn't really get that much attention until the very end where WWX points it out that NHS was the one responsible for JGY's downfall. NHS dislikes attention and prefers to play the fool while tricking others and planning out his enemy's downfall.

I actually like how he used xichen to kill jin guangyao cause xichen is the main reason of his brother demise. Not only xichen put all his trust to someone he barely know but he dismissed all nie mingjue concern regarding jin guangyao. I think that slight of revenge is really worth it.
yeah i don’t think that part was planned but when he saw LXC tending to JGY’s wounds even after everything had been revealed it was the last straw of huaisang’s patience for LXC, he decided he deserved punishment too by making him do his dirty job

Just as Minjue accepted his fate at the hands of "Brother Yao", Meng Yao himself had to accept it at the hands of the second brother. The only ppl who hates him is those who ship yao with xichen. I noticed they always make him extremely bad in their fanfics justifying JGY actions by his sad past. They don’t want to realize that MDZ world isn’t about good nd bad but actually a gray area where everyone is guilty of something. Even the most noble characters has some kind of bad side to them.

This makes me really want to pick back up watching the show from where I abandoned it. I read the books but i didn't realize how much extra good stuff there was in the show. I also really like the look NHS gives to LXC when he runs to the injured JGY. I think NHS is sympathyzing with LXC over holding a dying brother in your arms. He still makes LXC kill him of course, because he's long past the point of sympathy stopping him (plus, JGY was actually the person who caused the whole "brother dying in NHS's arms" deal so that's pretty fair imo)

I loved the sudden realization that Huaisang was behind all of it and he did all of this because of how much he loved his brother and wanted to expose the murderer. And I’m thankful to him for being the one who told Mo Xuanyu about that soul transfer because it brought Wei Wuxian back and helped him clear his own name too.
I think I'll never understand how people can watch/ read/ listen to MDZS and seriously say that NHS is the evil guy. I mean all in all the only thing that he could be blamed for is for MXY doing that ritual. But than again MXY was willing to do it because of what the Mo family and JGY did to him. All in all NHS only wanted the murderer of his older brother to suffer and while doing his research he found out that JGY not only killed his brother, but was also behind the whole thing that happened to his good friend WWX. So with bringing him back he knew WWX & LWJ would be able to reveal the truth. And yes he needed these two to do it, because he knew as soon as JGY would doubt him he'd be dead. So counting on WangXian was his only option. I also get why people are mad at NHS because he made LXC kill JGY, but to be honest ever since LXC told WWX that he is the only mistake LWJ ever made, LXC won't get any pity from me. As for NHS I can understand why he also blames LXC, I mean without him JGY would've never gotten so close to NMJ and wouldn't be able to play that evil music to again and again until it killed him. I admit in a way NHS does have the potential to be an evil guy, but so does WWX, the thing is if JGY wouldn't have killed NMJ, NHS would've just continued to raise his birds, paint & enjoy his books. Because he wouldn't stick his nose into things that don't concern him.

TBH Nie Huaisang is my favourite character from MDZS. One thing I didn't like is how the story portrays him being the sinister mastermind behind everything that happened later on. Another thing I can't understand is that the fandom still sympathized with Jin GuangYao despite all his pathetic deeds for nothing but personal gain, but everyone turned against Huaisang even though everything he did was to get revenge for his big brother. TBH Nie Huaisang is my favourite character from MDZS. One thing I didn't like is how the story portrays him being the sinister mastermind behind everything that happened later on. Another thing I can't understand is that the fandom still sympathized with Jin GuangYao despite all his pathetic deeds for nothing but personal gain, but everyone turned against Huaisang even though everything he did was to get revenge for his big brother. Anyways, Huaisang will still be my favourite no matter what ❤️
