Nowadays , Very few UA-cam videos are there, where you sit down take a pen and paper out and note down things, ThisConnect has been one of those, Interesting enough not just as entertainment but knowledge, keep up the good work
One thing I always do on delivery day is to take a test ride of the same model car or bike. This always gave me more confidence when I drive my own brand new baby.
Being a cinematographer, i give a standing ovation to the people in production. If anyone from motorinc is listening, please pass on this message to everyone involved in the production process. The skin tones, the color grading , the pro mist filter (yes, i noticed!), the set design, the audio, and man the edits. I am so interested in shooting behind the scenes, and the production process of the Motorinc production interview style! Peace out! ✌️
I hope Kartikeya & Shumi don't give up on this series soon in the near future. This is a very mature convo style content. This shall continue at least for 1000 podcasts. Just keep the balance between bikes and cars. Best wishes.
Listening to Shumi talk about valuing his time, not wanting any drama on delivery day, etc. It's like an older, wiser version of me speaking to my soul!
One of the most important things that I have learned from SHUMI is "The moment you take that Bike/Car out of the showroom, You forget what it costs" So if you are getting that colour or feature that u love for some extra bucks go for it guys, u will regret later for not having it than spending extra on it So relevant and true ❤
I absolutely RESPECT how straightforward Shumi is. He accepts what he is and is so vocal about it, In this world we are so much trying to please people and become that person that we forget to just be comfortable and accept how and what we actually are. Great man!
Listened to this on my flight. This resonated so much with me. This channel is turning out to be a gem! I’m always looking forward to the next video! Great job guys… love what you are doing!!
Coming from a CS background, can definitely understand the peace at "not being yelled at". And it helped me innumerable times with the dealership and gettings things sorted, amicably.
I wanna share my own experience here! When I had booked my NTorq, which was the first vehicle of my life, & when the day of delivery came, I was literally so nervous that my hands were shivering & I was sweating like anything!😅😅 The showroom manager was like, no need to worry sir, we are here to help you out so no need to get nervous, just relax & have a sip of chilled water & he handed me a glass of chilled water after which my nervousness had reduced! Since then, the whole showroom staff are so friendly & get my vehicle serviced in time. That showroom is VVK TVS, outer ring road, Mariyappanapalya, Bengaluru! 😊😊
Looks like Shumi is the most excited person on the day of delivery. He wants no BS, just a tank full of gas and vroom. Good content guys. Over the time I realised that I should have been more calm on the D day but I was too excited and skipped to do a PDI myself. Lucky me nothing was off the chart with the vehicle I got but for next time I would be having these points on my checklist.
One thing that I try to do even before delivery is to start forming a relationship with the service manager. I want to be present while the bike gets serviced and that’s non-negotiable and having the service manager aligned helps save the argument later. Shumi’s ‘full-tank’ quirk is hilarious 😆. I personally like taking the bike to the fuel station right after delivery. Great content, as always, fellas.
The only thing I would counter is the petrol filling. This is my outlook, mostly because I've just been involved in 1 delivery (friends bike), but there is just something with filling your first tank of gas and riding off. Nothing useful just purely emotion and experience oriented. Keen for all that happening when I have a chance to purchase my first own.
@@motorinc Nissan Magnite XV. Did the PDI today. And you were right, our SR was so helpful. They even let the PDI person compare my car with the other cars present in the showroom for better detailing.
This podcast is literally the best solution for many people’s problems. Being in an automobile field for more than 7 years now, it has so much of knowledge to grasp. This podcast can calm a person, who is screaming in a showroom for his scratched bumper than a showroom guy 😂😂😂
Fantastic video as usual, guys. Humble request; Could you guys give us a tour of all the vehicles in your garages? That would be one heck of a video! Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work!! ❤
Yaar I tried asked enfield guys to give me a full tank of gas and they refused. Even after I said I'll pay for it they were like we aren't allowed to do so.

I have watched this video and taken notes. Thank you so much for doing this. I am getting a classic 350 tomorrow and this video just calmed me down so much. I will tell you more how it goes soon. God bless you and your team. All your videos are so truthful and direct.
I'm getting my first bike FZ V3 delivered this Sunday and i was searching for a video related to new bike delivery and I saw your video.... I'm just thankful to you guys...that was really helpful.
I can connect to your discussion and let it pour into my riding and knowledgehub so quickly,I am really getting tons of learning as I move forward with your videos.Thank You.
Sometimes problem is the salesmen at the dealership beacuse its job is just to sell anything and they will never accept their mistakes beacuse they work on Target basis and sometimes they charge you for car accessories which was already free with your vehicles. When you take dilevery of your car or bike check it completely before taking delivery and do not believe everything that salesman says because you are paying for it and you have to live with it. Its completely your responsibility.
I’m so like schumi on taking bike deliveries, KTM Gurgaon made sure that there was no drama, they just handed over the keys and a box of sweets and I was good to go
I’m gonna take the delivery of my Virtus GT next week, thanks a lot for clearing out a lot of doubts I had, all the while keeping it entertaining! You guys never disappoint, cheers!
I was seeing this video before my car’s delivery and surprised when Kartikeya named the same one I booked 😂😂 @ 30:18 . Now my purchase is even more exciting.
Emotional difference point, owner & dealer, fantastic 👍 great discussion. Topic suggestion - what annoys you most or deal breaker in new car Bike/Car. For me if test drive vehicle steering or handle is not aligned or rattles from a new vehicle or abstract thing like - steering feel in my hand etc.
Very informative, listened multiple times, points have been noted down on a notepad(as a hack to be used on that day). Now looking forward to a "Run-In Advance" podcast as promised in this episode. Hope to see soon. Thanks.
Hey guys, Good episode, this reminds me of my delivery experience when I picked up my RE Continental GT 535 back in 2017. I did do the basic checks but it turned out that the battery died within 10 months and the company didn’t replace it and asked me to buy a new one because they said that the battery serial number was incorrect 🤷🏻♂️ and didn’t match the bike (apparently someone replaced it before PDI). I eventually bought a new one without much discussion as I needed my bike back but it was something that I’m be careful about in future ✌🏽
Thank you both for this video. I'm going to pick-up my first car, Baleno from the dealer in a couple of hours and I saved this video to re-watch it today.
I'm in the market for a new car, our first one, and I've been thinking about how to handle all the drama, religious symbols and stuff too. I am irreligious as well, and when I envisioned my car delivery experience, it was exactly like Shumi described his, down to not having to go to the petrol pump. It's a great idea to make a list of Dos and Don'ts and deliver it beforehand to the dealership and I will be definitely following that, will try to update how it works out.
Dec,2021 took delivery of RE classic reborn. The main thing I did was my own pdi (dent, scatch check, all the lights, brake press , engine start) then I paid the rest of the amount to the dealership. And ya, just added the leg guard.
@@motorinc delivery experience was fine but not the dealer experience, they failed multiple commitments of delivery date. Even they mange messed up rto related stuff. Service experience avarage (2 fine,1 below avg . I find it heavily dependent on the service person) Bike experience: I am not amature, this is my first bike. Till now bike is very good to me , and happy with the purchase (thanks god they update the engine). The bike is now 4500km+. The bike easily go upto 80+, and very few time go over 100 (as it not safe ). I don't feel vibrations that much. And the only thing I would add reverse gear 😂😂😂, as the bike is pretty heavy and hard to back out on incline. At time of purchase I almost took honda cb350 hns , but the service availability is a big issue as it is very far. To me honda missed a big chance by launching it under big wing. I wish companies would give the bikes for 1h , 10min is nothing for noob like me to experience and understand the bike.
I recently booked a motorycle and will be taking the delivery of the same in a couple of days. The timing of this vlog for me is bang on! Absolutely love the content you guys have been putting out, especially on the ThisConnect series. 😊
I had a very bad experience in getting my first motorcycle. So it all started when I first went to see the bike. It was a Royal Enfield hunter 350. Seeing the bike up front I just knew that this is THE bike I need to get, I was like determined to get the interceptor but then it didn’t make sense to get such a heavy, expensive and powerful bike. The dealer was like pressurising us to make the full payment but we only did it in like instalments. The day was coming up and I couldn’t hold my eagerness to see my own bike. So we went to the dealer again and saw the bike. After that we returned home with a big smile on my face. But here’s where the problem begins,on the delivery day we had asked the guy one day earlier to keep everything ready by 10 in the morning, he gladly agreed and said he will do so. We even waited from the day of booking for 2 weeks or so for all the legal things to be ready, but during the delivery day the bike was just wiped not washed properly, no proper delivery celebration and all those stuff, at around 10:15 another guy comes and then tells that the guy who was handling us can’t make it because of the prep work for the bullet launch. They just opened the shutter, gave us the document and keys and we just got out from there because of anger and the fact that we had lost patience.
He's absolutely right, purchased a second hand X1 s-drive 7speed after the dealer quoted me a waiting period of effin 6- 8 months. I got so pissed after the meeting that day that I went to d guy's competition and purchased a pre-owned car. And to be frank, the car is just as fine as a new one.
If you get the vehicle as it is and if it has some issues, the warranty will fix only the main issue but you have to pay for consumables like gaskets, seals etc. from your pocket. And that's not covered under warranty. And even dealer doesn't wave off those charges. I am speaking from a personal experience with my first bike that I bought. It was Hero Honda Achiever 150. Also, I have observed in some cases that the dealership doesn't have a separate test vehicle. They will give customers bike which are yet to be delivered for a test ride. Additionally, the vehicle will have a record of rework done to it and that will impact the resale cost. Please guide us how to deal with such situations !
Yes. All true. Thankfully manufacturers cannot really afford to have vehicles that are constantly having warranty claims on them so statistically the % of them is quite low. The solution in all cases is that if the doubts are that many, you should move on to a better dealer.
All vehicles I've purchased till date (and there are quite a few) always had the insurance done before the vehicle left the showroom. Usually many states provide a temp registration number and it is LEGAL to drive with that temp number and insurance is also valid. I think only some states have the option of getting a permanent registration done before the car leaves the showroom.
This is really helpful for first time buyers. Dealers in big cities are generally great when it comes to the buying experience. The problem arises when we go to dealerships in small cities. Most defective vehicles are sold in such dealerships but the number of defective vehicles is very small. I think minimally updated vehicles like the NS 200, RS 200, Alto 800, Bullet 350 should be discussed in a future podcast, their relevance in the modern day and why they still sell in 2023 should be discussed. Belated Holi wishes to the entire team! ❤️
Regarding don’t drive without registration- many car dealers push you to take the delivery of the car before the number plate has come or before the vehicle is registered. May be they want to get rid of the inventory. This happens esp when you don’t want temporary registration
I'm not so sure about motorcycles but for cars you can do PDI before you pay full amount ie. before it goes to registration so if there are any mejor issues you can find out upfront and relax on the delivery day, make sure to note chasis number at the time of PDI and on registration document. Great podcast guys very tiny nits and bits discussed. Keep it up..❤
This is why Thisconnect is so darn amazing. The content motorinc has is so helpful and relatable. The only problem is the more i watch motorinc, the more i wanna buy another machine. Sadly no space in the garage, no money in the bank. But nevertheless we will keep watching and keep hustling for that JUST ONE MORE BIKE. ❤❤
The best advice I've ever gotten on a UA-cam channel, Thank you. Seriously I'll definitely ask the dealer to fill the fuel tank full from this day because what happened last time was I went with my friend fir delivery of their first car which was Hyundai venue , everything was great untill they went to the petrol pump and forgot to tell the guy to put petrol in it and he had already put in 3 litres of diesel in the tank. That was such a mood killer for the whole family cause they were waiting at home for the cars arrival and we were contacting the dealer get it fixed which they did graciously in a neat manner. We were late by 3 hours but the experience was a bit scary because it was their first car and it had to go through an entire tank cleaning proces in day one.
I'm getting ready to take delivery of my first car Tata Punch. This video was great with all the right stuff. Rightly said - it's an emotional purchase ❤
I took Apache in 2018. It came with a scratch on the silencer didn't see it in dealer showroom which made me feel bad . After some years I got used to it :) let's enjoy riding
Nowadays companies take extra care in shipping of the products. I recently visited a RE showroom for a test rode, I noticed an Interceptor perfectly wrapped in high quality material. Its exhausts were bubble wrapped, entire body wrapped in packing paper. They mentioned it was shipped to Mumbai from Chennai facility. It is a good response from brands in maintaining that premium delivery experience.
I feel first thing you do on delivery is check all tyre pressures. If there's one tyre with a substantially low tyre pressure, check for a rim puncture. Chances are the bike / car was driven with low pressure from stockyard to showroom and the rim has probably taken a beating. Has happened with me.
Getting the hunter 350 soon...so this is just the best help i could get....hope to catch the running in convo happens before i get mine lol ...much love to you guys
My only worry taking deliveries of past bikes was to ensure Odo reading is under 3 km and keep mind happy that bike is not demo unit . Regarding car delivery ,i would prefer taking delivery before RTO registration on temporary number. . if I locate scratch ,micro dent , workout body parts or any finishing issues I can ask them to change the vehicle and then start registration process ( happens in small town dealerships specially with mahindra ,tata vehicles) .
My Dzire 2020 within 3 days had a bad reverse gear, it wouldn't slot in one go, the dealer wanted to repair the gear box, I refused and after alot of nagging, he agreed to replace the Gear Box and offer some discount on accessories. It was all good after that.
I'd just booked a Brezza Zxi+ and Karthik's review of the car at Zigwheels brought me to this channel. You guys are giving such great value content to a newbie car buyer like me through this channel. Coming to this video, Its such a joy to sit back and absorb your insights as i'm preparing for my impending car delivery day ☺. Thankyou so much Shumi & Karthikeya
Great podcast!!! The one thing I missed or would want in another podcast is Initial bike/car care after taking the delivery. Like revving it or not, maintain certain level of fuel or speed or things like that. Cheers💯
Most dealerships that I have bought motorcycles from are keen to please and make your delivery day special. Some just do it better than others because they take time to understand you as a consumer. In my case, Infinity Ducati did that by simple gestures like giving me a full tank of fuel on the bike. Small gestures but they go a long long way for you to consider becoming a repeat customer of the OEM thanks to the dealer experience.
I'm all in for a hard break in, but you'll have to pay for the oil and filter, because the dealer will only go by factory recommends, so to most people a soft break in is easier. 2. a softer break in works better for me on a bike because I can take my time learning handling limits, for a car I'd prefer a hard break in.
Well 100% agree with what shumi said about being calm and solution oriented, I had booked an i 20 and decided to get a polo later and requested for the refund amount and i was told they'll refund only 60% of the booking amount. Waited for six months and got 100% refund and not one day did I raise my voice against the dealership and it was all on the email..
So I am getting 9 months old manufacturing car as new, I am not sure if I should be worried or not as 9 months is lot of time for metal to get rusted or some rubber wear and tear or bacteria build up in filters. Its just we have trip planned and the colour of our choice is of old manufacturing date which is of same year and generation/variant though, its just why 9 months old. By the way its Virtus GT plus in carbon steel grey.

Very nice Prabhat!
@@motorinc You win some. you lose some.
It’s changing rapidly. The temp plates will disappear.
I think they sorta covered that topic in the "small cars or bikes matter" episode.
Belated Holi wishes to you and the family too!
Thank you SL, or should that be LS?
@@motorinc haha you know it! LTT fans in the house??
great conversation! very informative, i learnt a lot from this. thank you both.
I am now incredibly curious about Shumi’s legendary KTM. Would love to see this bike that he loves this much and see what all has been done to it.
He has documented it heavily on his instagram.
Me too...
Go to his Instagram! (@ shu_mar)
Regarding don’t drive without registration- many car dealers push you to take the delivery of the car before the number plate has come or before the vehicle is registered. May be they want to get rid of the inventory. This happens esp when you don’t want temporary registration
Resist! 😊
I am going to get my classic 350 delivered by april so great timing guys !
Wish you and safe rides!
I had same situation for Front brake issue in honda highness which ran out in 400 kms only... I went out took ceramic pads instead of relying on honda
Oh no! That's waay too soon!
I believe this needs to be seen as much by consumers as by dealers and manufacturers.
Spread the word! Thanks!
Shumi and kartikeya are at it again......Making us better Riders/ Drivers, now making us better buyers..keepit up guys..waiting for much more...
😊
Thanks a ton you guys for the coverage on my query regarding coatings again (commented in the last video). Cheers to y'all 💯
Our pleasure!
Keep it up..❤
pre-booked the new himalayan and making notes of things to-do/not-to-do already. thank YOU for the rich conversation :)
Best of luck Ankur! We hope you get your delivery soon!
❤❤
It’ll happen! Just keep at it. ❤️
Consumers are very well protected today the thing is you want to avoid the hassle. Well said 😊
Excellent conversation, thanks for posting!
💯♥️
Oh boy! That would have been a dampener! But hopefully all good since!
@@motorinc everything has been great since then.
I'm getting ready to take delivery of my first car Tata Punch. This video was great with all the right stuff. Rightly said - it's an emotional purchase ❤
Congratulations!! 👏🏼
I took Apache in 2018. It came with a scratch on the silencer didn't see it in dealer showroom which made me feel bad . After some years I got used to it :) let's enjoy riding
🤜🏽🤛🏽
Nowadays companies take extra care in shipping of the products. I recently visited a RE showroom for a test rode, I noticed an Interceptor perfectly wrapped in high quality material. Its exhausts were bubble wrapped, entire body wrapped in packing paper. They mentioned it was shipped to Mumbai from Chennai facility. It is a good response from brands in maintaining that premium delivery experience.
We believe that's how it was always done for premium products @PR_6891! No? 🤔
the car and the bike diecast on the table look so freaking sick! Adorable! love it!
Right?!
I feel first thing you do on delivery is check all tyre pressures. If there's one tyre with a substantially low tyre pressure, check for a rim puncture. Chances are the bike / car was driven with low pressure from stockyard to showroom and the rim has probably taken a beating. Has happened with me.
Oh wow! That’s a strange one. What did you have to do then?
I was insisting my friend for PDI, now I will send him this video, my work is sorted!
Let us know how it goes!
The topics u r covering r very interesting, informational and relatable
You definitely deserve more subs and support
Thanks for being here!
Love this podcast. learnt more than I thought from these conversations from people who know and experience.
🤜🤛
Thanks for sharing your insights Vikas!
My Dzire 2020 within 3 days had a bad reverse gear, it wouldn't slot in one go, the dealer wanted to repair the gear box, I refused and after alot of nagging, he agreed to replace the Gear Box and offer some discount on accessories.
It was all good after that.
This a beautiful discussion and I appreciated every moment
I'd just booked a Brezza Zxi+ and Karthik's review of the car at Zigwheels brought me to this channel. You guys are giving such great value content to a newbie car buyer like me through this channel. Coming to this video, Its such a joy to sit back and absorb your insights as i'm preparing for my impending car delivery day ☺. Thankyou so much Shumi & Karthikeya
Thanks Akshaya! We hope you get your delivery soon!
Great podcast!!! The one thing I missed or would want in another podcast is Initial bike/car care after taking the delivery.
Like revving it or not, maintain certain level of fuel or speed or things like that.
Cheers💯
Working on that MI! Should be part of ThisConnect Season 02!
Awesome of you to give them a shoutout! Good turn! Thank you.
Man all these videos are so much fun 😇 what an absolute way to have fun
Glad you enjoy it!
loving these chats, such genuine and actionable advice. Keep these coming guys.
Ppf for my new safari is it needed??
The topic that everyone worries about. Priceless discussion.
Thank you!
