M. Night tried to defend the characters' names pronunciations as trying to be more "culturally accurate." To which Dante Basco, Zuko's voice actor from the original series, responded with "Then why are the characters white?!"
And them trying to say the names culturally accurate, just ended up making the fans annoyed when the cartoon didn't make the culture mad
Lmaaoo gotta love Dante’s response 🤷🏻♀️
But tbh whether they made them white here or accurate asian in natla, people always have complains. Atla has become the most challenging and toxic mainly bec of fans. Never pleased
@@samlung2724 because as a south asian myself, he pronounciations ARE wrong.
I’ve read the reason they’re white is that one of the producers is the Katara actress’ grandfather and made sure she was casted so they did the brother casting to make sense. Meanwhile, to balance the inexperienced actress they hired Dev Patel and had the fire nation casted the same race so it was a bunch of dumb and flawed decisions where they didn’t think ahead
meesh, you will go down in history as the only human to see this film twice
😂😂😂😂😂
in my defense, i went a second time IN THEATER to see if i could change my mind on it…. wrong
It's only a right of passage that every reaction channel checking out the Avatar series checks out this horror show of movie
I am now fully baptized 😂🙏🏼
-D
For my head cannon, we had to go through this movie to get Seychelle Gabriel as the voice of Asami.
The only positive thing about this movie!
She got her redemption as Asami
@@Menno0183 Im glad Sokka got his redemption by leaving the avatar world to become Jasper the vampire from twilight 🤣🤣 every single person in this movie from the production team the director the actors every single person WAS FREAKIN AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!! but ya good on her for becoming asami lol. she did great there
@@Menno0183 Fun cross-dimensional theory: live action Princess Yue was reincarnated into animation Asami; similar to the Avatar, the Moon spirit can reincarnate. Originating in the Water Tribe, now it finds itself in the presence of an Earth Nation woman named Asami. XD
@@miyomi-chan that’s a good one! 😂
Princess Yuie is the best casting in the entire so-called movie
Katara's actress (Nicola Peltz) was cast in this role at the insistence of her father, who was a producer on the film.
It came to light that Nicola Peltz was cast as a favor to her billionaire father, Nelson Peltz. And Jackson Rathbone (Twilight)) was subsequently hired to match her appearance.💀
A nepo baby that wants to be an actress, so daddy buys her a career. ^^
@@mori1bund Still acted better than Sokka and "Ong" 💀
She gonna inherit billions. If i was her i wld just chill. Like ong😂
@@NoReply28 no the fk she didnt. and besides every single actor sucked. lol whos ur dealer? cos i want 5 of whatever ur smoking. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Im glad ive never come across her face ever again in my tv screen since this film. absolutely horrendous!
Didn’t azula from the new one get casted because of her dad too?
You guys have made my morning😂 couldn't stop laughin with you.
The guy who played Zuko even apologized publicly for the movie😂😭 cause he is truly a good actor this movie confused him as well😂
I actually felt bad for the actors, even when the movie first came out. Because of this Aangs actor stopped acting
@@samlung2724 True felt bad for Aang's child actor! 💔 They set them all up for failure! Cause that kid was a professional child martial artist NOT an actor. They mostly cast him for the former and should have focused on his acting skills.
HOWEVER!😂 Back then it was admitted (and obvious) that Katara's actress (Nicola Peltz) *was cast in this role at the insistence of her father, who was a producer on the film.*
She was cast as a favor to her father; and Jackson Rathbone was subsequently hired to match her appearance. Upset me so much
So glad we could all laugh & cry together during this horrendous movie 😂😂😂 thanks for watching along! 🙏🏽❤️
@@daniellaaa24 she looks nothing like katara
I love how they made an entire movie of the ember island cast.
You are officially part of the avatar community! Watching that atrocity is the initiation
❤️❤️❤️
I’m already laughing and I haven’t even fully started the video yet 🤭🤭
😂😂❤️❤️
"Why's her face like that?"
"Sh'just... she just bended"
😂😂😂😂
The original creators were involved in both production only for the beginning until they left because of creative differences. Both of the times that there has been a live action of the show that creators have been ousted because their vision isn't being released
i cant believe they made firebenders need a source out of boy, until Iroh has the big revelation like "Look how strong I am NOBODY can do this. Im the only one who can just manufacture fire"
I find it insane that M. Night directs a movie like The Sixth Sense and then doesn't see what's wrong with this one at all.
😂😂
Oh boy, I was about to have my coffee but I better switch it out for vodka 😂
This movie was so bad 😂😂
Idk why we didnt fill our drinks with tequila before starting 😂😂
M.Night was doing an interview and said he though firebenders bending from nothing wasn't realistic. Thst let me know he didn't know the lore of the world...firebenders draw in heat from the sun raising their body temperature focusing that heat to a single point abd ignite the dust particles in the air M. Night!!😢😢😢
I still remember in the row in front of me at the theaters, this little girl halfway through the movie turned to her dad and asked "...can we leave?" This movie was just heartbreaking....
17:55 "Aaaahhhaahhh !! 🤪🔥" = literally that guy while "firebending" 🤣for me it's the best part of the whole mess 😅
Seychelle Gabriel is just *chef's kiss* and one of the only good parts of this.
It's always the writing that drags this movie down. It could have been a "decent but not what I wanted" kind of movie, but instead it has no redeeming qualities.
My sincere condolences to any excited Avatar fan that went to see this in theaters 😔
OMG, you must add Slumdog Millionaire to watch list!!!
32:44 they were initially involved but they left due to creative differences. M. Night wasn't taking their input
I can vividly remember the night I watched this, I’d finished ATLA and Korra and knew this was the last step I had to take, I was already sick and then watching this movie on top of it, what an experience. I think I had the same reaction as you guys at the end “I’m never going to get those hours of my life back” 🤣
Neverrr 😂😂😂😭😭
The one thing I thought could have gone right with this movie was Summer Bishil as Azula. She was ICONIC as Margot in "The Magicians" TV show and I think she could have done Azula justice if she was given the chance, despite already being too old for the role.
The Nostalgia Critic said it best during the Earthbenders prison camp. Why the heck are they captives when they are surrounded by earth, whilst in the show, they're oppressed because they're on a metal boat with little to no earth to bend. Then also, why the heck does it take a group of them to bend a small rock, when a single Earthbender can flip a Fire nation tank.
This amongst so many issues with this adaptation.
The name drop of Hama in the southern Watetribe is the only thing this movie does right...
💯!!
Shyamalan even managed to make the iconic intro look naturally boring. How do you mess up that bad?
😂😂
I feel the biggest thing that kills this movie's action is M. Night trying to do so many one-takes where he's doing all these pans and you constantly see actors getting into next position and trying to time things on beat that everything ranges from slow to borishly predictable. There's never any street fight frenzy to the action. It's certainly possible to do one-takes correctly (e.g. Daredevil hallway fight), but M. Night's attempt just held everything back.
aw y’all the cutest couple on UA-cam but watching this was tough lolol
We feel your pain 😂🙏🏼 thanks for watching with us though! ❤️
I just watched your reaction vid of all eps of Netflix ATLA few wks ago but wasnt able to comment so doing it now. I loved it! One of the best RV of Natla for me. The one closest to my feedback. I loved how you were objective yet not like those toxic fans coz in the end, many enjoyed the series by old and new fans but were just lowkey coz the toxic ones are loud. LOL. Btw as for this one, i know you tried so thanks for trying😂😂😂
Exactly!! We thank you for watching along with us 🥹❤️🙏🏽 glad to know we also have similar feels about Netflix’s ATLA and can’t wait to see Season 2!!
@@MeeshDeeReacts Same here! I know next season maybe 1-2yrs from now but I'm already seated for your RV no matter how many episodes they're gonna be. You're on top of my list for sure! More power to you!
TYSM for the love!!! 🥹❤️✌🏼
I think it's really saying something that this is the most positive reaction I've seen to this movie. Congrats on the engagement btw!
You forced her into watching it? That's kind of evil ngl 😂
So evil right?! 😂😂
why does Meesh always remove Dee's hand when shes touching her 😭😭😭😭
Lmaaaoo she hates me 😂😂😂 -D
@@MeeshDeeReacts I know ur saying it as a joke but it rlly looks like that in the videos it makes my heart break 😭😭🥺🥺
LOL!! Omg no she’s not being serious. She just doesn’t want me to be PDA or affectionate while we’re in the middle of filming a reaction 😂🙂↕️ it’s all love tho 🥰 -D
@@MeeshDeeReacts ohhh okayy haha
Awesome! You've shared the trauma of sitting through that mess! In theaters we were mostly just sitting there in disbelief. Shyamalan had made a lot of statements about how he corrected many of the cultural elements he felt the cartoon got wrong including the pronunciations of things...and it just turned the film into a huge insult to fans and the original show.
Oh man, I remember tagging along with my friends who were fans of the show at the time to see this movie in theaters (I’ve never seen it until recently) and we walked out like not even half way through and we hopped into another theater to see something else 😂
I'm not sure it's true, but I recall reading or hearing somewhere that either M. Night or whoever was in charge of casting owed the father of the girl playing Katara a favor, which was paid by casting her, then everyone else in the water tribe had to be cast based on making her fit in.
42:12 This, I think, is part of why in the show, Azula has an entire subplot added in the Netflix series (beyond child labour laws limiting how much Team Avatar could film); in this film Summer Bishil was cast as one of the biggest villains of the franchise (if we consider that Zuko isn't really a villain in Book 2 until the end then she is _the_ most prominent villain), and gets two scenes and a single line of dialouge and because of the fact that the sequel never happened, that was it, that's all she got. I imagine that will have been a huge dissapointment. As it wasn't until after the first season aired that the second and third were greenlit, so they didn't want to run the risk of putting Elizabeth Yu throught the same thing.
Oh that’s why
Yesss needed this today!!
Princess Yue is the best part of the movie.
1000!!🔥
I read an article that said originally M Nights script got the original creators approval but then the production company began slowly icing them out. Not sure what happened after that
Enjoy your vacation at Lake Laogai
🫨🫨
The earth king humbly requests your presence at lake laogai 🥴🥴
I think I need another trip down to Lake Laogai after seeing the “Earth Pebblebenders” again
Shyamalan takes complete writing credit (and direction, production). This is his baby. The original writers advised M. Night initially but completely got frozen out of the process very early on - and I think they were happy to be rid of it. They are on record as disliking the end product (though they usually don't talk about it when it comes up). They had to be given credit as executive producers though since it was derived from the original show.
The one rock scene takes me out every time😂
Meesh & Dee Awesome Video Reaction Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
congratulations, i'm so happy for the two of you! i only see you on here, but from what i can tell you two are like, perfect for each other :) And now to engage in the only joy this terrible movie can inspire: inflicting it on others, like a prank you fall for and can only feel better about when you get someone else with it
Thank you so much!! You are so sweet! 🥹❤️🙏🏽
42:51 All those dancing earth benders wasn't the one bending that one tiny rock. It was the one dude that the camera panned to that was bending the rock. Those dancing earth benders were the one that put up the giant wall to protects the other dude. Still a bad scene though LOL...
I agree with Dee, I also think the Yue in this movie is the cutest 🥰
❤️❤️❤️
I’m pretty sure the original creators bowed out of this one as well.
I also love that Dev Patel actually hates this movie. Hahaha there was a video of him signing autographs somewhere and someone brought this movies poster in and he said “this movie was pretty shit. Sorry about that”
Hahaha you may now be knighted as a real ATLA fan 🤣🤣🤣🤣.... I remember waiting for the DVD to rent and being so annoyed after watching it. Wanted to throw the disc out the window. 🤣🤣
I hope everyone drank plenty of liquor while watching this.
I had to look this up. LOK came out in 2012. So two years after this monster. Asami’s va probably sounds a little different.
I gotta take a break from this and go watch the Netflix one… omg
Best Avatar parody movie ever 🤡
The best part of this movie is small rock dance group.
after watching this, Netflix's Avatar looks like a masterpiece 👍
I thought you said the best part was the beginning both of you were like this looks cool lol
I remember watching this in theaters had to pay more cause it was in three d and fell asleep in the first viewing so they got double my money cause I had to see it again and was like I'm not falling asleep this time cause I wanted to see it all cause loved the show initially was mixed cause everyone hated it I didn't but I can see what everyone is saying its basically the same story lol has funny moments lol
Did you notice that, in the intro's background, for some reason they swapped the Japanese kanji with ... Random scribbles
Lol, it was technically Roku in the iceberg, Meesh.
You've been jumped into the Gaang, Dee.
Here's a like for suffering through this alone.
You know i actually want to see a s2 and 3 of this horror show for just became
Oh.. oh no... how did we end up here.
Edit: DAMN the Roku edit was too funny
Hey Avatar Meesh and Avatar Dee how you two have been. I hope you two weekend is going well. Lol at you two facial expression on the thumbnail sums up what you two think of the movie 😂🤣 But anyway I hope you two day is enjoyable. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.
Hahah thanks for watching this horrible movie with us Rob!! ❤️😂
I do like the acting from Zuko and Eeeroh. And I like the giant wave that Ong created at the end. And the arrow tattoos. That’s about it
I swear i thought yall reacted to this already lol
Oh my god! How cruel and unusual! 😰
Well done, Meesh 😈
You def gotta remeber this was made in the time everyone tried to be inclusive
Fun fact: the actress plays Yue in this also voices Asami in Korra
Do y’all think these two noticed princess Yue’s wig at 29:34? 🤭🤭
My head's aching! Why??? Just why??😅😂
My name is ong and I am the avatar 😂😂😂 omg that's was so funny and hey beautiful ladies pls react to kobra Kai thank you ❤❤❤❤
Having watched some background scenes they really made Aangs actor hella stiff and serious. He acts more like Aang in the behind the scenes being playful and a prankster 😭😭
22:39 I thought she didn’t watch the movie before ??
Oh, God girls good luck you sacrificed yourself 😂
😂😂😂
18:19 is exactly what I came here for
Can you please react to the Saban’s Power Rangers 2017 Movie!!! You may look at the name and think it is childish and cheesy. But it is hilarious and shows the growth of friendship and trustworthy. I swear it is a must watch!! Also, has some tearjerkers
Dee- “I do not know how the original writers green lit this whole thing” exactly my thoughts 😅 that’s as bad as J K Rawlings green lighting The Cursed Child 🙈🙉🙊. Loved this reaction!! Sorry not sorry 😂 felicidades 🙌
Exactly!!😂🙏🏽
I watched with my expectations so low that they were next to dinosaur bones and I was still disappointed. Each time they mispronounced the names felt like a physical blow.
This film is soooo disrespectful. I remember I went full critic on this and I was a MIDDLE SCHOOLER!!!
Which is worse comments, this or dragon ball evolution?😂😂 Both are terrible in there own right.
I just love watching the pain of someone experiencing this movie for the first time.
I think my breaking point was 'we are going to secure a bunch of Earth benders in a... quarry.'
Dude. If you couldn't afford the iron ship prison set, just skip it. jesus.
Can y’all react to the avatar chibi shorts ?
*fire lord is Māori 😂😂
The weddings off! For real though how could you do this to her?
Appa looks like a goddamn monster. They did our big cute fluffy boy wrong. 😬😔
If they made this movie a Comedy to make fun of Avatar The Last AirBender the movie would’ve been more successful.
It is impossibly to like that movie - if you have seen the animated series.
Oh nooooo. I saw the title of this vid and almost cried myself Lolol. I saw this movie on opening night with my friend…and it…was something. The whitewashing, the destroyed plot, the “fighting” amongst other things…😭😭😭😂☠️ It was the first time I witnessed such a huge negative reaction in real time in a theatre. But imma watch the reaction for y’all. 😭🙏
😂❤️❤️✌🏼
M. Night is a director who tries, no matter how ridiculous the story, but he failed spectacularly here because his talent as a filmmaker was eclipsed by the quality of the source material.
Worst part: I own ATLA on blu-ray and the interviews and commentary have the cast and crew reference this new movie coming out from a major director. Poor souls were so excited for this thing.
Avatar is easily one of the best works of fiction humanity has ever created.. and this movie is by far the worst piece of media I've ever seen in my whole life. It takes special skill to mess up this badly, I don't think many directors could've done a worse job, lol.
I cringed so hard that I couldn’t finish the video.
Oof, that's cruel...well...you always hurt the ones you love💔
Why oh why would you do such a thing to her!! LOL!!!
My name is ong
I’ve yet to start this video, yet I’m commenting to provide my condolences for your inevitable loss of brain cells and patience which is unavoidable when watching this for the first time
😂😂🙏🏼
Great reaction to this movie. We all know the storyline & directing was👎🏼 but hey I’ve enjoyed you both reactions to this movie.💯💯🍻💯😋😁🤭
Pretty sure it counts as domestic abuse
It's not Aang, its AAAHHHng lol
There is no live action Last Airbender movie in Ba Sing Sa
OH NO
tbh i think they made this movie out of spite 😭😭😭😭
I literally skipped to the end for your review cuz I just couldn't sit thru watching that again lol. I went to see this in theaters 🤢The bigger screen makes it look even more lame. I feel sorry for all the actors in this, they were not given good dialog and that's something I feel M.Night has struggled with in many of his movies. He was not the right choice for this movie, he had only been doing smaller scale horror suspense movies before this and he likely took this big budget action movie because it's a big paycheck & the studio offered it. I know he says his daughter was a fan but he clearly wasn't one or respected the source material. They needed to go for a director that could pull off a big martial arts action movie but maintain a childlike sense of adventure while being respectful to the serious themes. I don't know a lot of directors but they need a Chris Columbus type (he did the first 2 Harry Potter movies and was a really good child actor or new to acting mentor on those. Many of the cast spoke highly of him) or even a Spielberg (he would've likely given a cameo like Dante Bosco as they worked on the movie Hook together).
