Hello just wanted to thank you, I had no teachers at school nor took tuition for my Cambridge O level poetry and thanks to your videos I could understand and work the paper, I've been following you since the beginning of the year and I really appreciate your videos thank you very much for your kind work☺ I got Hawk Roosting😅
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m so glad my videos served as a guide for your O-levels 🌷 Hawk Roosting is one of my favourites! What was the question you got? 🌷 K
@EnglishwithKayleigh In what way did Hughes make this bird so powerful in Hawk Roosting? Thank you very much I got an A in O level literature in English all thanks to you, I had no teacher I only watched your videos for poetry, many here are impressed and I am recommending them your channel, thank you very much for your good work!
Hawk's nature basically represents human nature. All human's nature are authoritative, cruel, gaining power, and decision-making.Similarly, hawk also possess these characteristics. The poet tries to convey the violent nature of human through Hawk.
Can you please make a video on how to answer questions and give model answers please. I have no teacher to teaxh me these you are my only english litterature teacher please.😊
Hello! I’m planning on making a structure video to support revision soon. My top tip is: 5 paragraphs Introduction: Poem - collection - publication year. Brief summary about the poem Thesis statement (answer the question) 3 body paragraphs: Remember to include word and technique analysis. I always tell my pupils to include analysis on either form, meter, or rhyme in each paragraph also. Conclusion: Reiterate your thesis statement Explode Hughes’ wider message / themes he explores. I hope this helps! Keep your questions coming 🌸 K
@@EnglishwithKayleigh I took British Literature: post World war 2 and being from India most of the professors at UA-cam teach in Hindi so it's difficult for me to understand
What an interesting subject. Im so glad you got to study Ted Hughes - he’s so brilliant! If there are any other poems/videos you’d like to request, let me know! 🌷
The hawk has no human qualities but is being described to somehow have human qualities like “i sit”, “sophistry” and “my manners”. Can that possibly connote that the hawk is living in a world full of humans who thinks violence makes a person bad but actually violence is a part of life so it’s um.. mocking the way we look at violence?
Mocking is such a great way for the way the hawk views our responses to violence! But, of course, the hawk cannot reason like the human mind so there is also confusion on its part. 🌸
An amazing explanation of the poem Ma'am. I have a little different explanation of this poem like; if we take a human instead of the Hawk then the poem will be easy to relate to human life. Humans are the ruling creatures of the whole universe, we humans control each and everything in this universe created by the GOD. We are prideful and arrogant creatures, we kill another creator just for the sake of our benefit. In addition, the line in the last stanza "The Sun is Behind ME", symbolizes, the "SUN" the powerful creature that is under our control, So, what are the value of the little creatures like ants, wombs, butterflies and all other insects?
And your voice is really melodious. specifically when reading the poem ❤
Thank you!🌷

@@EnglishwithKayleigh Ohhh yes that also explains it, thank you~
If you had to write an essay on how the hawk is portrayed vividly how would you structure the three body paragraphs?
great explanation . very helpful❤

Thank you for your comment. I think this is a wonderful alternative analysis of the poem (given Hughes’ views on man in many of his poems). 👍 K
