I had one you can actually heat the water in the bottom WITHOUT the top and agitator in place on the stove. It could be used in conjunction with a wood stove to heat the water too. At 90 watts probably easily used off grid.
I'm looking for one that has the drain on the bottom, so that I can rig up a drain pump to it. Ill use that for smaller loads since the HE washer isn't good with small loads. I was surprised at how dirty the water was considering those towels were supposed to be clean!
Well aint that something !! I am in awe of this little machine like a puppy. I am so going to look one up even though am in Canada am on the hunt for a good old Vintage Washing Machine. By the way never hear of or seen these before so am happy I came accross your video. thank you very much for this and do not forget to post when you repaint them.
I live in Egypt,I just bought one,its german French version220 volts,I was looking for something about it until I found your video, the time at the heavy duty mark doesn't stop on its own ,don't know why. Where is the video of the inner parts?
it died in September last year. It was replaced with a 2017 speed queen the last of the good ones! eventually I'd like to get a 1987 whirlpool direct drive and an old Maytag that has the suds return feature. this is the exact machine the cabrio replaced: ua-cam.com/video/4AX_uODaE7M/v-deo.html I'd like to find another one some day.
Is there somewhere I can acquire a manual? I just purchased a Nesco model with a thermoplastic tub and agitator with the drain plug. I am thinking these different models are all pretty similar. BTW this is a great thorough video.
@@GarageDoorGuy89 Thanks for the feedback, and thanks again for the extremely informative video. it seems like the wringer worked quite well. when you say you might additionally get an "extractor", Chinese or otherwise, what type, make and model extractor strikes you as best?
@@RoryWhite I never did buy an extractor to use with these. If I still was, I’d likely look for a vintage one. If I couldn’t find one and had to buy a new one, I look mostly at reviews to see how good/reliable the product is. Panda brand has good reviews and I’d likely buy one.
@@GarageDoorGuy89 thanks again for your generous feedback! i'm looking at two different units and can only afford to buy one of them. they each have their ups and downs. the Handyhot Washer i rather prefer has rollers that show age a bit more pronounced than the other. first use of them after many years shows a bit of crumbly "crackalura" (an art term i think) coming off, just a flake or two. If i hadn't seen the other slightly better one, i wouldn't have worried. I would have just used it for a while and if flakes came off, try sanding down the rollers as it seems i'd quickly, within less than 1/8th inch, get to more solid material. Any feedback?
@@RoryWhite I think the rollers are supposed to be rubber. I’m not sure if if they could be sanded down or what effect that would have on the functionality.

Wow, those are SO cool!!! I agree, I would just set one up for wash and the other for rinse.

Do you still have the Whirlpool Cabrio washer? Hopefully you can replace it with a used Whirlpool or Kenmore Direct Drive washing machine.

I have an owners manual for these machines. Give me a few hours, I’ll scan it and upload it to my website, you should be able to download it for free.
The manual is under the miscellaneous section. I'd recommend following the lubrication part of the manual before using it.

I have the Kenmore brand, it works great however my timer doesn't move when I turn it on. Any tips on how to fix it?
To be honest I’m not sure if the timer on these is able to be opened up, it’s been a while since I had one of these apart for maintenance.
I wanted one of these small washers! No longer on sale on eBay.
I'm using mine now.
That is somthing!
Do you know the capacity in terms of lbs.? I saw on a later model made with plastic it said 1.5 lbs. 1 1/2 lbs.
I don’t remember ever seeing a marked capacity, but I’d think it would be about the same 1.5lb capacity on these older models.
