Thank you Russell! It's all just 'exercise' for this less than optimum voice of mine. And now having been through this particular book, I have all the more respect for those that do this kind of thing professionally.

It had been a number of years since I'd read this book, and I definitely enjoyed reading through it again. Do you know if Zane Grey wrote any other books that were based in agriculture? I think of him most of the time as a writer of westerns. I've only read a handful of his books, but defiitely tried this one because it was about one of my favorite subjects: wheat farming. Thank you for your kind comments once more! 🙂

@@PAplowboy I'm not sure just when I learned he had a farm-related book. I don't remember for sure, but it was probably one of the first of his books that I read, as that caught my interest. I really enjoy its farm scenes, but it's much more than that. It's an interesting picture of where our country was during World War I.

The DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) was a country in Central Europe from its formation on 7 October 1949 until its reunification with West Germany on 3 October 1990. Until 1989, it was generally viewed as a communist state and described itself as a socialist "workers' and peasants' state"

Thank you! I remember when the reunification took place back in the day, right in conjunction with the collapse of the Soviet Union. I'm trying to remember my history - was the DDR an independent country, or was it a state included with the USSR?

@@AK-FS Independent but it was controlled by the USSR up untill November 1989. I remember watching the citizens on the news tearing down the wall with anything they could find

@@Cornholio I saw some of that news footage as well. It was truly a historic moment.
