Every blue moon, I do a stay-cation. I will stay in a hotel in my own hometown and just be by myself. No agenda, no shopping, no chatting with friends and family. Just me being low-key. I love it because I never run into anyone that I know (when grabbing breakfast in the hotel), and I don't have travel that far. It's like my mind, body, and soul just knows when it's time for me to find a nice hotel and just be.

I too have done the same for years Anna. I end up touring my own back yard, places I just won’t go to normally. Terrible experiences during the pandemic but starting back up now via an Airbnb. Nice to get away about 40 minutes from home.👏🏾

A friend of mine and I had covid at the same time. We kept each other company (via whatsapp) and she called it her "mom-caetion" she was a little sicker than me, but it sounded like she really appreciated the time off! Of course a hotel would be nicer 🙃 but our bodies and minds needed rest from this crazy pandemic and just the busyness of life.

    SELF SOOTHING
    1. Stretch your body for approximately 5 minutes upon waking. Touch toes, raise hands above your head, etc.
    2. Take a shower or bubble bath after a stressful day.
    3. Look at peaceful things - calming colors, pictures, quotes, scriptures,
or anything that makes you smile & be comfy like you are at home.
    4. Talk to yourself as you would a friend. Don’t say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t say to a friend.
Speak compassionately to yourself. Remind yourself everything is going to be OK.
    5. ‘Ground’ yourself - Wear your most comfy clothes, do activities to hit the ‘reset’ button. Change your environment to calm down. Go for a walk. Or turn your face to the sun. Listen to soothing music. Diffuse essential oils (Lavender, etc.). Have calming lights.
    6. Be mindful. Do one thing at a time. Do not ‘split’ your attention. Pay attention to where you are right now. Just live in this moment.
Be aware of where you are right now & just breathe.
Have your thoughts serve you well.
    7. Walk.
Even if it’s only 15 minutes.
    It lowers tension.
    8. If life has been hard - put on your robe - order in - watch a chick flick & cry.
Give yourself time to move out of it slowly.
    Let it out.
    Just don’t stay there.
    GIVE YOURSELF GRACE &
    SPACE TO FEE GOOD.

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! This is what I need. Thank you for this word! This is amazing!
I soothe myself by listening to encouraging people like yourself....yay!!! And I soothe myself with prayer throughout the day, meditation, and exercise.
I have a meditation space in my bedroom. It's beautiful with LED candles a fuzzy rug. plants, an essential oil diffuser and pillows and a pouf. That's my quiet space.
I like your parenting style and I love all your advice. I am going to relisten to this.LOL! You're looking vibrant and beautiful as always. Thank you for sharing! God bless you!

Thank you very much for this. I had a headache when I started listening to this. I'd just turned upside down on my bed and place my feet up on the windows, then pull my legs towards my head when you said number 1 is stretch. How amazing it sounded in the very moment I was doing just that. My headache is now gone at the end of your video.

God knew I needed to watch this video, specifically for the information on stretching exercises. My chiropractor, massage therapist, and physical therapist have told me to stretch so many times, but the explanation from your podiatrist puts a different spin on it. Speaking to myself is something I must try because I tend to be high strung myself…always anxious about something. And grounding sounds interesting 🤔. Thank you!

That way of handling a teenager who’s in meltdown mode may be a little hard IMO. Sometimes children take away the wrong message when parents appear too firm, that the parents don’t care. If this is what needs to be done to manage a difficult situation, I think parents should follow that up with gentle warmth later to let the child know that the parent wasn’t rejecting the child, rather teaching them how to handle their emotions. I can understand that it’s so tough being a parent, but it can make all the difference in the world in the life of the child.
