It's great the way Lt. Columbo keeps showing up and pestering the murderers with "just one more thing I can't seem to figure out." Sometimes you kinda wish Columbo would move on to somebody else and leave the poor murderer alone in peace. Just when you think he's done talking, he shows up again with more of his pesky questions!🤣🤣🤣 Columbo and Monk are probably two of my favorite shows.

The context: The producer told his girlfriend that he was promoted to the NY office. She was so happy about their future in NY! But he says "Kate, I want you to stay here." He was breaking up with her. She looked crestfallen. For all of two seconds when she figured he was promoting her to run the LA operation. But he explains she's not ready for that yet. So he gives her a brand new car instead. She wants to kill him. And it's apparently for not promoting her because she was only disappointed about the break up for a few, seconds

As well as everything else good about this episode, It also shines light on the world of TV executives in the 70s and the world of 'made for TV movies' that were so lovingly made back then. The ones today seem so cheap and off the peg.
I remember a great American TV movie made in the 70s. It would have made for a great episode of 'Columbo': A revered New York actor eliminates his wife for cheating. The actor is also blind. He puts on a disguise and pretends to be a person who can see as he travels to a hotel where his wife is to do his business. No one he interacts with on his journey there and back make him as a blind man.
I saw it in the 80s as a kid here in the UK. can't remember the name of it though and for a time I misremembered it as an episode of 'Columbo'

@José Elias It could be a combination of both, but I think it was more because of the fact that she wouldn't be moving to New York or getting Mark's job.I think she was just using him to get ahead on the TV Network.

@@bonghunezhou5051 They do not talk about the her relationship with Mark until Columbo finds out(when he gets her jacket from the cleaners),so apparently it was a secret in the workplace,I do believe they were using each other,Mark using Kay for her beauty, and Kay using Mark thinking she can get ahead on her career with his help. This is why I don't think she was upset about the end of their relationship, she got upset because Mark was getting promoted and even transferred to New York, and she was getting nothing out of this, not even his job.

I watched it again hours ago; Columbo himself seemed to think the job angle alone is not enough of a motive for murder.
