  • In this video, I use my track "Stupid Kid" to show you how to make mid-tempo music like Rezz! This started out as a song just for this tutorial but turned into a release! Really happy with how this came out. Let me know what you think about it too.
    Stream Stupid Kid: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/non...
    Download the project file and samples: marketplace.tunebat.com/produ...
    Hope you learn something new or simply enjoy the music. Have a great day 😀
    The videos I make are me doing my best to teach what I’ve learned. I am by no means an expert at music production, so if I make mistakes or give misinformation please tell me! Still trying to learn and improve so I can be a more effective content creator and teacher. Cheers!

    Really creative track here - I appreciate the attention to little details and intentionality of the track’s mix ! My mind was blown after the drums were created, i rewatched their creation a couple times just to really understand it in full. Keep it up NW Music!

    Hey man, this is some great stuff. I'm just getting into midtempo from a mostly techno/dnb background and the way you present information concisely really helps. If you have the time, I do have a question: when you're automating the volume envelope for the kick, you seem to be doing the inverse of what's usually done; instead of starting the gain high and tapering it off, you're starting low and then ramping it up. Normally this would lose your transient, but it doesn't seem like you have that problem here. Is there something in particular about midtempo bass/kick design that makes this the preferred choice? Thanks a lot.

    • @nonweary
      @nonweary  11 місяців тому +1

      Appreciate the kind words. Are you talking about the volume automation at 2:00?

    • @traviskelly8678
      @traviskelly8678 11 місяців тому

      @@nonweary No problem! I mean the kick volume automation at 6:41 . Normally I would be applying that sort of envelope to the bass sample to duck it out of the way of the kick transient, and then apply the inverse envelope (start high taper off volume) to my kick, in order to preserve the transient but taper off the tail to make room for the bass. You're doing that low to high fade on your kick, but somehow you aren't losing your transient. I'm guessing that there might be a strong transient in the bass that's making up for it, or something else? It's a big project so I'm certain I must have missed something. Thanks for your time, appreciate the reply.

    • @nonweary
      @nonweary  11 місяців тому +2

      @@traviskelly8678 Ah, I see what you're talking about. I'm using that utility on the kick track just so I can reference and match the envelope exactly. I showed around 6:54 that I cut the utility and pasted it on the SC group. I can see why it would look weird though, cutting all the transients of the kick.

    • @traviskelly8678
      @traviskelly8678 11 місяців тому

      @@nonweary Oh yeah! I see exactly what you mean now. Actually that's an incredibly good idea and I hadn't thought to reference the kick that way. Definitely going to be doing it that way from now on. Thanks a lot, I think you'll go far man.

    What sample packs do you suggest for mid tempo

    • @nonweary
      @nonweary  Рік тому +1

      Even though it's a bass house pack, KURA's "holy grail sample series'' has a lot of dark, industrial drum hits and bass sounds. I would use those to start off

      @@nonweary Hey boss, just your eq cut is little agressiv 48db/oct is so much, I think for keep more musicality you need to cut 12db/oct to 24db/oct but is a little detail and your production tips is really good !
