I wrote my own from scratch. It made me organized and I discovered my weak areas. I feel it is the rite of passage as a CFI.

"Hey Clayton, loved your video! Currently working on saving up for my CFI. Considering buying lesson plans like Backseat Pilot to streamline my studying process. It's been helpful to use their notes as a foundation for creating my own concise PowerPoint summaries. Keep up the great work with your videos, proud of you!"

Did you print the condensed version (400 ish pages) or the entire layout (800 ish) for your binder? Must have been a lot of trees either way 😂

I actually had 2 whole binders! One was all the ground material, and the other had all the maneuvers. It was definitely a lot 😅

First of Clayton great video I love the teaching videos as well they are phenomenal!
For your lesson plans should it include this: the basic outline which shows the objective, equipment, elements, instructors action, students action, and then the completion standard. After this should my notes start that I have for that lesson?
Do I get to reference the notes if I get stuck on something or just the first page of the lesson plan?
I heard mixed stories that you can only use your lesson plan as a guide and then I have seen where other people not only have their lesson plan but also have a lot of notes pertaining to that lesson which they tend to use. So just a bit confused on this and I tried looking this up everywhere but so far did not find anything....

Thanks so much for the kind words!
On the checkride you can absolutely reference your notes while you're teaching. What the DPE doesn't want to see though, is you reading your notes for the entire lesson. So if you forget one or two things, and need a quick reference, you can absolutely peak at your notes.
It's 100% at the DPE's discretion, but most will allow you to reference your notes to keep you on track. Again, just don't straight up read your notes. A friend of mine actually had the DPE close his notes and say "ok, now teach me based on what you KNOW." Use the notes as a guide, not a crutch!
