Great vid. Context to my question, I bought a 1975 gl1000. It's been sitting for at least 20 years. The frame is good but it's rusting away. Can't wait to start the build. Guess I should have specified that the sitting bike is in rough shape, but still good enough to still build.
Haha I hear you. Form follows function though. I loved the can gauges but they were a unreliable. I broke 4 different tachometers and the speedo was 15% off - an entire 10mph wrong on the highway. Gauges are useless unless their accurate. Had to switch. And the new look is growing on me 😁
@@brod478 this is an Acewell. The round ones seemed cool but I didn’t like how they delivered the information. I really like how I have a mechanical tach on one side, then the other I always have speed, gear position and oil temp, then can rotate what I want for the other spot (like odometer, voltage, etc). The circular gauges work differently. At the end of the day, I wasn’t willing to compromise function to fit a certain look. It’s just a gauge, and is pretty hidden now with the fly screen.

Shout out to sohc4!
Couldn’t have done it without them!
Why are all brakes hydraulics yet clutches are mostly cables? I snap my cables too frequently, so I'm looking to change mine.
just come in to say: F your new screen and gauge. hehehehe. looks baaaad just because ruins the vintage vibe.

@@JacobBaldry but why not keep the vintage look,.. with a daytona or a acewell?!
