Many thanks for that walk round of one of the new exhibits at Beamish. One thing in particular caught my eye - the crocodile fire tongs sitting on the sideboard. I have the identical item sitting not two feet from me on my hearth tiles as I write these words. My crocodile used to sit on the hearth in my nana & grandad’s house in Fulwell and after they passed away it found its way to me. ‘Tis many years since I left Sunderland, but that crocodile, and a few other treasured things, are concrete links to a happy time long ago.
Love this video 😊 I can imagine a retired miner and his wife, enjoying their retirement in these cottages. X

Love beamish, will have to go back for the 100th time 😂😂
i must have missed the miners homes . was there last week and did not see them
They are quite hidden away to the left of the council houses so I nearly missed them too!
Similar cottages still in use in Boldon Colliery.
Allover the northeast as well.
Great video I'm new to your channel
enjoyed the video, but not the irritating music, so i just turned the volume down to zero.
