  • The campers were looking for an alternative source of light and a quick way to boil some water for evening coffee! So we decided to construct a Swedish Torch.

Those things would be great mounted on 8 foot poles as well. Great for insect repellent and camp lighting. Plus if anything comes around that is harry and scary, it's an instant aggression subduer. Thanks for sharing guys. That is a great skill to learn.

Nice video. Great to use for boiling in a small container on top once it is established. Makes a great "personal" heater and keeps a fairly low profile. Nothing like a camp fire you can pick up and move if you have to :) Take care...

Just used it last two weekends :) Only difference is that I always start the fire on top. Just a small one is sufficient and you'll have a nice stove in 2 minutes :)

Hey my Brother.. It depends on the wood you use.. I would assume that this log would have burned a few hours being it was still damp. The fire inside isn't near as large as in a fire pit.. so it would be a good time

Swedish torch instructions: light and blow on it till you pass out. LOL

It depends.. You can probably move it... how safe it is when lit is a judgement call

Thanks for your question. At this point in life (I'm almost 66), I just wanted to spend time with my beloved Tam. I decided a few years ago to move more into art... and Tam enjoys tinkering in her flower gardens. Thanks for asking

Can you safely pick it up and move it?
