      @@AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist Thank you!! THere are SOO many different things that can be done with it and so many awesome tutorials on YT, lol, it's kind of overwhelming! It's the main reason I havent tried 'junk journaling', lol, I just dont know where to start because there is so much and I love the bigger, really cool ones, but that's prob not a good start, lol! Same with shadow boxes...some paper/mixed media type projects are so new to me, that I just get overwhelmed and never start, lol, then get bored bc I feel like Im always doing the same things (which is mostly upcyled old thrift 70s/80s decor to "new" farmhouse/primitive decor). I know I have to start SOMEWHERE though! Lol! But, thanks for responding! =)

      Hi Kathy, thanks so much for your comment. I'm still quite new to this and so learning as I go. Unfortunately I didn't take note of my music choices.. I just chose what I liked and what I felt fitted, however, I aim to do better!! I always use the same type of music and so from the next video I will be sure to list song choices and products used. Many thanks. Ali

    Lovely work! Do u have to add a medium or something to the modelling paste or do u spread it directly on the canvas?

  • @daveymichael6891

    What is the most suitable thickness for a stencil to get a good depth for the modelling paste? Some of the most common stencils are 190 micron which is really thin so I assume wouldn't give a very good effect. I would like to cut my own stencil using a heat pen tool but don't know what thickness of stencil to buy. I hope you can give some advise 😀

      Hi Davey, I used these and cut out with a craft knife. They’re 6mm. I found them on Amazon and they worked great.

    How did you seal that did you varnish that? That’s beautiful I’ve been working the opposite way I like the stencil thing better

    • @AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist
      @AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist  Рік тому +1

      Hi, I didn’t seal this particular one and quite liked the raw tooth type finish that it had, however, I was commissioned to create 4 more very similar pieces and I sealed those with Galeria Matt medium which gave a very slight shine to the finish. I liked both finishes but felt the sealed pieces were more protected.

    When doing the initial background painting did you do it all wet on wet, or did you allow the layers to dry before adding more paint?

      Initially I worked wet on wet and then as the layers built up I allowed the layers to dry before adding more paint.

      I apply gesso first through the stencil, allow to dry thoroughly and then add acrylic through the stencil to add colour.

    I am using itsy bitsy sculpture paste and stencils for painting but everytime after applying paste over stencils, I'm trying to remove stencils immediately after this process , then the whole paste came out with stencils and couldn't get the pattern over MS boards,,, can u suggest some tips? Should I have to wait till paste dry and then to remove the stencils and Ms board? I'm so confused, i couldn't figure it out what to do 🥺🥺

    • @AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist
      @AliImperialeMixedMediaArtist  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, it sounds as though the sculpture paste that you are using is not thick enough to hold.. if you can maybe use modelling paste or gesso. I use Galeria Modelling Paste and I remove the stencil slowly and carefully immediately after I finish and find it holds very well. Good luck! 😊

    Hi, I'm from the UK and wondered what thickness of mylar stencil you use. Most of the companies here cut mylar on a vinyl cutting machine and can only offer 190micron which apparently is too thin to use with modelling paste as you wont be able to see the true effect when stencil is removed. Someone suggested a hot pen tool and cut my own stencils but I'm worried about breathing in the fumes from hot plastic. Can you suggest a good thickness of mylar and maybe I can find another way to get some stencil cut with it.
