As someone who plays and sings at the same time with tracks, this seems like it was built for me but there’s one issue I have. The price is $1699 USD which is honestly way more than this should be. A price that large really keeps it out of the hands of people who would really enjoy it and get the most use out of it. EDIT: Thanks to everyone responding. My main issue with Fender here is their focus on making a profit instead of selling it at a reasonable price that working musicians can afford. The manufacturing cost of this has to be at least half of the sale price. I realistically could have just as good sound from a laptop and interface for less. The reason I would prefer the Fender unit over that is for the form factor. They could maintain build and software quality for a much cheaper price but choose profits instead. Not to mention their staff is overworked and underpaid so none of these profits are going to benefit the workers in any way.
Still rocking my Zoom G5n I got for $300 back in 2017. Digital effects definitely have their place. 95% of the tone as the real thing, but wayyy more convenient in so many ways.
I was using my Zoom G3X I got back in 2013 up until this year when I finally upgraded to a hx stomp. The zoom will forever hold a special place in my heart, had a lot of fun with that thing
Beautiful. Amazing. Imagining how technology, digital technology, signal processing has come a long way over the years. The decades. I am an electrical engineer (retired) who started in the days of floppy disks and basic electronics and controls. Imagining the days of Tom Scholz and the images in his mind when he built the cool things he did. Another great video of you getting excited and geeking out. Aloha!
@@yoshilikestrains - Well yeah, most of them popped up all at the same designated time this morning per Fender's instructions. That is how these things usually work. Yes and nobody will actually use this live or buy brand new on purpose. $1700? You could buy an Axe FX, Helix, Kemper or Quad Cortex, but instead buy a digital product from a brand known for ditching their digital products? Nah….lol.
I used to play electric guitar in a band with friends back in high school. I had bought a Line6 Pod Pro, their big pod with foot switches etc. It was similar to this (probably less good sounding tho, you could hear the "digital" aspect of it). Unfortunately, I haven't even touched my electric guitar in years. But watching this video really made me fall back into those memories of fiddling with my Pod pro for hours and hours. And I feel like I should pick my guitar up again. I'm sure it would be good for my spirit. In any case, great singing. I loved this moment of nostalgia and music you offered me!
I still have my line 6 pod and foot switch board. Honestly it's way better than people give it credit for considering how old it is. If you know what you're doing you can get some great sounds out of it
@@TomBedlammusic yeah it wasn't bad at all! In fact, it was already working like the product in this video. Minus the fancy screen. But you could already do so many things, it was impressive. And on mine, I also had an analog foot pedal to control things (like a wah, etc)
I just saw the ad for this in my email from Fender yesterday, and I also was blown away with this. I own a Fender Mustang GTX 100 amp, which has a lot of this technology built into my amp. But this is the next level and in a stand alone unit that you can take anywhere and plug into anthing, but still have all your effects, your amps, your mics, your cabs, tuner, and looper, anywhere. It's not cheap, but it is priced well below some of the other similar units by other manufacturers. I don't need this, but of course I want it! LOL
Mary, ignore the haters! Your review made me order the TMP and I couldn't have made a better decision. The UI is incredibly intuitive. I play in a acoustic cover band, using a Taylor 324ce and a D‘angelico Excel semi-hollow. With my old pedal board, changing guitars was a nuisance, as I had to to adjust settings on 3 pedals with every switch, some manually, some by footswitch. I use a L.R. Baggs VoicePrint that captures the acoustic sound of the Taylor, which had to be bypassed for the semi-hollow, a Strymon iridium pedal amp activated, volumes adjusted… Now the switch is simply a step on a footswitch and I was able to set up two perfect presets within an hour, without checking the manual! The VoicePrint is the only pedal I’m keeping, routed into loop1 in the Taylor preset and deactivated in the D'angelico preset. My Boss looper is in loop3 in both presets, as the TMP looper doesn't capture the xlr input, so I can‘t loop my cajon here. I hope Fender will fix that in the future. The TMP works like magic and the sounds are amazing! Cheers!
My brother in law rocks a Helix, I was blown away by the versatility… Looking forward to hearing what you come up with Mary. I’d buy an EP/album of Mary just noodling about on this new bit of kit.
Mary Spender you've sold me! As a songwriter and a creator of soundtracks for my own short films, I'm intrigued with the process of how a soundscape -- otherwordly, shifting, unexpected, intuitive -- can help shape and change the songwriting process, echoing back and opening doors right and left -- all inviting the artist into new rooms, new stanzas, bold characterizations, where mood and substance join in new dances. Artists are actors and actors create their best work by actually breathing in the worlds they are supposed to be living in. Immersion is everything, right? For me, not being lulled by patterns and the "expected" is where my best work is apt to come from, whether that be in finding moments of extreme dynamic and/or stylistic contrast within a song, or whatever it may be, and have my "being there" status help make it all work. Like you, I love analog, especially when married with new technologies. Take for example Page and Company's timeless projects like "Going to California" or "When the Levee Breaks." Though riddled with reverse compression, reverse reverb, and then some really wild pitch manipulations to fatten sound up -- for example, Page slowing the playback speed of the instrumentals in Levee from open G to the key of F. Still, those songs have an analog-like, organic integrity to them, though they emerge from highly manipulated spaces. Thanks for sharing your excitement. Sweetwater will be getting my order tomorrow. And I look forward to buying and listening to your albums!
I am using the mustang modeling amps and it seems this is built on the same tools. Because users can submit their patches I think the community with drive the need for legacy. Curious how this unit will interact with my modeling amps.
Let's face it, when it cones to gear you're better off working in a music shop where it's your job to demo gear so you'll never get caught out by obsolete. That's why you see a lot bearded wise men in music shops.
Well they’ve been supporting the Tonemaster concept for several years already and they’ve just made a huge investment even further into it so I’d count on it being around for a while.
Had a similar experience when I switched from my traditional pedalboard to an HX Effects. Yeah I mostly use a couple of sounds but when I'm working on a song and telling me "what if I put some spring reverb and some vintage-like vibrato" I don't have to run to a shop, I just browse the available effects, pick one I like and go with it. Something really cool also that I like to do is making a preset per song so that I don't have to think about what pedals should I turn on or off, which knobs to turn, etc. And for shows, I just put all the preset in the right order so I don't need to tape a setlist to the floor...
This seems like a perfect tool for the bedroom recording artist or someone who wants to tour out of a compact car. If the venue has a PA, you can literally walk in with a guitar over one shoulder and this in the other hand, plug in and start playing.
As long as they have a decent monitor system, then yup. I love these for recording - Tonex, Headrush myself - but live I'm too long in the tooth and too used to crap house sound engineers to take a chance 😂
I quit the modeler game a long time ago. I saved up and bough an original Neve pre/eq racked unit, built in the early 1970s. I never looked back for a millisecond. Every time I plug into it, I have instant ear-vana and then any processor in go into after it sounds awesome because THE SOURCE IS GOLD. I love the look on Guitarist’s face when they look at me and say in amazement, “where the tubes in that thing!” What I’m telling you kids is when you have an incredible microphone preamp as your guitar amplifier, you don’t even need a cabinet to sound like your favorite records. You can go direct from it and use any speaker as your guitar amplifier. Its that simple.
Pretty impressive and it looks like you've had it for a year, the way you were navigating through it. You are a truly unique and gifted artist. Much respect!
That's really a credit to Fender. They have made this thing so intuitive and simple that pretty much anyone will be able to instantly use it. This thing is ridiculously near perfect.
Thank you for demoing vocals with it. Haven't found anyone else doing that. Would love to hear more from that regard. I take it this could replace an audio interface for recording purposes?
I have no use for digital screens on the floor, or pedals that become dials, mainly because of positional vertigo (I'd stagger right off the stage making adjustments). To me, pedals are for feet. Tiny digital readouts are for people who can see at eye level. Even with glasses I'd have to get on my hands and knees to use these features. A good accessory for this pedal would be a companion iPad app that does all the visual and dial functions, that clips to a mic stand or dedicated stand.
I’d wait for it to be roadtested and objectively reviewed before shelling out $1600 on a new bit of tech. It’s really not all that different, functionally speaking, from a Cortex or Helix. You’d think for that much money that it’d come with an expression pedal, though.
I love your voice (smooth) and your guitar playing style. Your bass line playing and unique leads and chords intertwining together for a brilliant sound that is uniquely you! I will also check out this Fender Pedalboard to see what it can do. I too write and play music and have recently gone to digital DAW from analog recording. Big leap for me! It is definitely a rabbit hole of leaning... well, Keep playing, keep pumping out your original songs and keep pushing your level of comfort in order to learn and grow...
I just got mine today. The ProControl software was NOT able to connect to the TMP until I updated the firmware on the device. now it's working like a champ!
I gotta say, Mary if Fender bought me one of these too I'd probably be blown away also. UA-cam is exploding with this Fender toy, like Taylor Swift and Trever somebody exploded with social media. Thanks much for sharing your dream come true with us!
Impressive! I’ve used Line 6 gear for years from the original POD to the HX Stomp. Although the HX Stomp gives you control over all of your effects and amp parameters this looks a lot more intuitive and you have more information in front of you with the large touch screen and 10 foot switches that display what they are. Sadly, the price seems out of reach for me as a volunteer worship band guitarist. Nice video!
I bought an HX Stomp a little over a year ago. As someone who was a die hard analogue guy, it took some getting used to, but as a singer songwriter who plays solo a lot, I find myself wishing I had gotten the full Helix. Having a mic input is super nice.
Still using my Kemper Stage Profiler. I have tried the Tone Master, and it provides good options, but it is not very different from what I already have. For someone who doesn't have any of the other devices, the Tone Master is a great option if you can afford it. Thanks for a great review and performance with it.
You need to try the boss ME 90. So I'm thinking first of all playing outside at a gig, how much humidity moisture in the rain can that thing take. The boss mb90 is a little better for that
me too. I am comfortable with it and to be honest I don't need more frills. The ME 80 is a great tool and I love that I can creat a set of patches and store it on my laptop which means I can load a set for whatever I am doing that covers my needs. The fender is way out of my amateur league pricewise.
@@kevanhart6247 i agree. There’s so many things you can create with the ME-80 that the Fender is just more of a novelty. I mean I’m sure it’s great but the price point ends that for me.
It is a bit pricey, but from the videos I've watched, the quality of the sounds and the amount of features it has, it isn't prohibitively expensive, especially when compared to the price of a good quality valve combo. For a professional or semi-professional musician, it seems to be a no-brainer. One of the downsides of digital gear is that it will eventually become a paper weight, in that they depreciate VERY quickly as technology gets more advanced and cheaper, that said, buying older digital gear can be a way of getting a great sounding rig at a bargain price when compared to the price at the time of release. I've got a 20+ year old Eventide Ultra-Harmonizer in my guitar rig, and it sounds UBER lush.
I got to hear one in person today at our local music store. The representative from fender was there demonstrating it.. i told him I saw one he looked at me like how? They were just released today. ( Tuesday) I told him I saw the ad on a you tube channel...he said they had been working on it for 4 years. It's an amazing board.
Oh my. I got a Fender Tone Master Deluxe a few months back, and it immediately became my sole gigging amp for pedal steel and electric guitar. I took it to a jam with the pedal steel, and two guys who own real vintage Deluxes asked me if it was vintage or reissue. It’s that good. It’s the first digital amp I’ve ever played that not only sounds real, but FEELS real. So if this Pro can capture the sheer TOAN of the Tone Master Deluxe (and the Tone Master Twin, which is also excellent), and also give me a rich collection of effects… sooner or later, I’ll get one.
This is a great piece of gear , Fender did their homework good size ,good interface , sounds amazing , there’s room for it in the modelers market , thank you for demonstrating it with your songs Mary really showcased it,and I don’t think Fender will be abandoning it , this is the future and it’s not going away just like A.I 👽
It wasn't an attack on Mary - she's brilliant. More that paid for reviews are not reviews. A review would properly show you the flaws and failings of the product in the context of the rest of the market and not just a token wishy washy non-criticism. The instrument industry has understandably high-jacked influencers who see an easy £££ by selling their influence. It's important to remember that their comments are at best well intentioned but not reliable. Jon Cordy for example does it properly. Rabea's Neural stuff after launch was a good example. It's no different from a telly ad. The distinction is important.@@thebigsmooth99
The single most important feature of any piece of music equipment in my opinion: Intuitive user interface. If I HAVE to read a manual to know how to do basic stuff I immediately want to throw it away. I didn’t pay money to read a dry novel. It should not be more complicated than learning an analogue instrument. It should be easier and MORE organized and MORE useful than a collection of single feature foot pedals or it’s just a waste of everyone’s time.
The Tone Master Pro is a pretty impressive piece of gear. I appreciate the demo and insights, and no worries about being selfish. It has a lot of utility for what you do. Thank you!
I juat read the list of available amps and effects. I think for first release, it's pretty solid list. Have everything that guitarist need. They don't have more "exotic" amps yet, but I hope they add them later. I do hope they include all of their fender line pedals. Not just couple of them. They should be proud of their pedal lines. I love em all
I have other units but I still ordered a Tone Master Pro. I have been using a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb now for a few years, with the updates, it is great. However, Next update for Tone Master Pro: Please include a Ducking Delay as on the Boss DD-200. It's my favorite delay. You can do it. Supersonic 22 amp head is great too. Also the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb. MTG: LA Tube Distortion. '57 Custom Champ. Champ 25SE. Mesa Boogie Triple Crown Head. Roland Blues Cube Hot and Roland Blues Cube Hot British EL84 Modified. Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50. Boss Nextone Special. Two track RC-500 Looper. Boss OC-5. Boss OD-200 Metal preset. You can do it.
Hullo! I can understand your giddiness over a new piece of tech; my fave isn't 'new', although I finally snagged one about 5 years ago-- A pre-millennium DigiTech GSP-21 Legend! With 128 presets (64 are user-definable), with 21 effects, any 12 of which can be used at once, in any order, with their own unique settings!! [tried to do the maths on the possibilities: not possible without blowing a brain tube!!] -- With the tap of a footswitch I can go from Neil Schon to George Lynch to Tom Sholz to Bob Dylan!! Mind **officially** blown!! Still haven't really "pushed the limits" on her (yet), but looking forward to doing so! Keep on keepin' on, m'lady, and as always, Blessed Be, & Peace!! 🙏☮
Love what these manufacturers are doing these days! Used to be you had to haul a refrigerators worth of gear with you to get the tones/sounds you wanted!
One of the hardest things with sims is getting the amp sims to react the way a real amp does. Some people don't care, but some people like the blooming of frequencies as notes go up and down in volume, as well as how the gain reacts to your attack. I can only think of one company that models their sims with 100% accuracy, including the way one eq knob effects the other eq frequencies. Their noise floor is extremely low too on their units. I'm glad there is more competition out there now, because some companies tend to focus on marketing rather than improving their products, or rely on their past reputation to carry them.
Some of the best bits from tc electronic G Major and more modern touch screen devices. It will be interesting to see Fender support this with constant upgrades. Fender? Are you listening?
I have had a boss GT-100 for like 10 years. It's been my main practice rig forever. Sounds pretty good. Amp/effects modeling has only gotten better. I can't wait until these hardware processors have better support for plugins.
On that note; I’ve had all the big expensive modellers, and a month ago, an old mate played me some of his recordings. I asked him how he got that amazing sound. “It’s that GT100 you sold me a few years ago”…. As always, it’s how you use something, not what you’ve got. I sold my Quad Cortex and got a GT1000. Now I have amazing tones too. It works for me, not everyone will agree, I’m sure 👍
Thanks m'lady, love your dexterity and the thrilly use of this gear, but --- Ijust don't have dexterity to play either my Squier Strat or my Lefty Squier Sonic Strat, although they are great to look at! So I'll just have to sit here watching you in envy! Where can I go from here, even my voice is letting me down (croaky and flemmy!) I suppose I'll just have continue to sit here watching and listening to my favourites, enjoying the likes of you, Mary, brightening my life! Thanks again, you never fail to delight! Love and best for the future ~ Richard! 🥲 🎸
It's actually a heck of a deal. If you were to buy 20 individual pedals for an average of $100 each, that's $2000. This thing has way more than that to offer in pedals alone, much less cab simulators, touchscreen arrangement and studio workflow as well.. Along with the ability to download and upload full setups.

Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor after seeing the price tag! Great review.
Best thing about this video was the song at 3min mark. Beautiful phrasing.
Oh lovely but does it chug? Hello from a a fan from Finland✌️
Nice video!
They priced it wrong. It should have been under $1000 for sure. Already, some retailers are discounting them to 1,400.
Helix is still great.I only just got used to the updates. The UI on the Fender is awesome though.
Can't you get your imaginary friend to buy you one ?
You do not see every day that legendary strat come alive, thank you!!
I bought an HX Stomp a little over a year ago. As someone who was a die hard analogue guy, it took some getting used to, but as a singer songwriter who plays solo a lot, I find myself wishing I had gotten the full Helix.
Having a mic input is super nice.
Love the Fuzzy Floyd sound! would love to hear some more of that in your play style Mary, sounded great!
this is essentially the same program that's in the mustang amps. I use them all the time but, there is just something missing from the virtual pedals.
Sounds really good, but it has a very hefty price tag compared to the competition. I really doubt they'll be quaking in their boots.
Mary ... I love your videos... how lucky are we all to hear play and sing... and to see you, go girl... Tone Master is not bad too.
The boss mb90 is a little better for that
Still using my Boss me-80, the thing works for me.
I bought one and I'm very blown away by this. Great review!
Could listen to you all day, Mary. Love my TMP.
That version of Get Away Sun was pretty awesome! Fun!
Today Neural lowered the price of the Quad Cortex
Great review Mary but I'd like to have heard an electro acoustic through the Fender....just to see what might be possible...:-).
This is a great piece of gear , Fender did their homework good size ,good interface , sounds amazing , there’s room for it in the modelers market , thank you for demonstrating it with your songs Mary really showcased it,and I don’t think Fender will be abandoning it , this is the future and it’s not going away just like A.I 👽
How can this video be saved to one's "Favorites" list? Where's the "save" button? -- because this is definitely worth saving!
Very Cool ! Nice review Mary ! 🎸
Happy for you Mary. Have fun!
Love the matching blue & white polka-dots; but you needed another two degrees to the right so you didn't cut off the pillow. :-). Awesome playing.
Enjoy! Can’t wait to hear more of it.
Great review Mary. Would love to see you playing an acoustic through it to see if it’s useful in that mode.
It's not really a review is it. 'This video is brought to you by Fender.' It's an advert.
@@davidcjupp Okay, it shows me what the pedal can do. What’s your point?
It wasn't an attack on Mary - she's brilliant. More that paid for reviews are not reviews. A review would properly show you the flaws and failings of the product in the context of the rest of the market and not just a token wishy washy non-criticism. The instrument industry has understandably high-jacked influencers who see an easy £££ by selling their influence. It's important to remember that their comments are at best well intentioned but not reliable. Jon Cordy for example does it properly. Rabea's Neural stuff after launch was a good example. It's no different from a telly ad. The distinction is important.@@thebigsmooth99
Good to see you so incredibly happy and bubbly over the TmPro!
I don’t know anything about pedals, I was just happy to hear you play and sing.
Yay Mary slender upload weeeeeeeeeee
Beautiful voice, Mary!
Mary you sound superb
Wow, look at that. It looks just like the TC Helicon Voicelive3 with some LED upgrades.
100%. They also want to be NDSP QC.
I'm always amazed when someone totally goes fan on something. Too much fun!
The single most important feature of any piece of music equipment in my opinion:
Intuitive user interface.
Mary shares a great program. Her style is appreciated in the San Joaquin Valley California.
I love em all
Can’t wait to get mine, thanks for the review
Hi Mary - Would be nice to see a new video after 2 weeks of use to the TMP and your feedback and settings u like the most.
The ins and outs and multiple signal paths make this a worthwhile thing, I just can’t afford it at the moment. Nice presentation of it Mary
Cool!! I can hear your style and musical attitude maturing, since I started following you. Explore and stretch... good work.
What an amazing voice!
Love what these manufacturers are doing these days! Used to be you had to haul a refrigerators worth of gear with you to get the tones/sounds you wanted!
Tis the World of Digital. I've a LÂG HyVibe and a GTRS they are pretty wild. The HyVibe now has 4 layer looper.
Great singing! ❤❤❤
Great clip. Great demo. Very happy to see your progress.
Which company is that whose sims you favour?
@@peterwaterford9482 I’m pretty sure he’s referring to Fractal’s units.
Some of the best bits from tc electronic G Major and more modern touch screen devices. It will be interesting to see Fender support this with constant upgrades. Fender? Are you listening?
Loved this version of Getaway Sun the delay !!! Keep playing around to find other ways to perform your songs !!! from one of your 1000 true fans....
We love the Unit!! I use it everyday...
The gadget lust is real. I don't own/can't play a guitar and i still want one of those very bad...
It works for me, not everyone will agree, I’m sure 👍
great kit
Mary, You sound like you're in LOVE!!!
Thanks m'lady, love your dexterity and the thrilly use of this gear, but --- Ijust don't have dexterity to play either my Squier Strat or my Lefty Squier Sonic Strat, although they are great to look at!
So I'll just have to sit here watching you in envy!
Where can I go from here, even my voice is letting me down (croaky and flemmy!) I suppose I'll just have continue to sit here watching and listening to my favourites, enjoying the likes of you,
Mary, brightening my life!
Looks great, sounds great, just like you Mary!
Truly, Madly, Deeply, Mary!
Always a treat to hear your voice ❤
