    Great vid again, interesting snippets of a variety of fish and weather! Haven't seen much nasty weather on your channel before it looked like it was flat calm 24/7! :)
    You grow the Occies big up there too!
    Hope you get some calm seas soon enough, all the best from South Australia!

      Cheers Shane. Not gonna lie, we tend to be fair weather fishermen. We do get to rolling around some days though, having the stabilizer poles sure come in handy then.

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry D. Your info is incorrect. State fisheries are managed by Areas and Districts. There are no closures in our area. Kodiak's rockfish fishery is very healthy and extremely well managed. If we were fishing illegally the Troopers would be all over us.

    Commercial fisherman my entire life up in the northeast (North Atlantic) from North Carolina up to the western passage US/ Canadian border.. over the past year I have permanently moved to Los Angeles in Southern California and believe I am going to go into the same line of work. These days I am trying to decide or determine what specie is most lucrative to the commercial fisherman here in Southern California...for the last32 years my Capacity on the vessel was captain most of my years of the ocean have been owner operator for me however I did work for a couple of large North Atlantic Seafood companies In New Bedford Massachusetts as well as Portland Maine

    • @EISAlaska

      If I had to guess for black rockfish probably around 7 or 8 lbs. Some Yelloweye get pretty big, upwards of 13 lbs or so.

      Hi Albie, thanks for the comment. We don't keep them very often, but when we do usually we toss them in the hold into the slush ice and gut later. I learned a trick recently to poke them between the eyes, severs the brain to dispatch them quickly, so I'll try that next time we keep one.
