- If anyone tells you that this ins't NMIXX then I don't know anymore! What else do you want!!!??? Now I might come to regret this ranking but on a first impression, "Run For Roses" is IT for me, then surprisingly "Sonar" and then only "DASH"! The reason behind "DASH" being ranked last even though I LOVED it is simply because the change up part was not holding its own in my opinion. The rest of the song is just so superiorly great that it almost made the change up part insignificant; I couldn't remember how it sounded! Though, visual wise it was the most impactful part of the MV for me! It really reminded me of O.O in a sense. So I would say this comeback is them going back to their roots if you want and I am here for it! I said I hoped for JYP to solidify their musical identity (and that regardless of whether I enjoy the songs or not) and they did! The vocals are perfection, the soulful/hip hop vibes are immaculate! And even though that's the forte or the song it also became its achilles heel almost because it is SO good that it overpowered the change up segment of the song! I know I'll get used to it eventually but still! I also noticed, there's no real rap verse this time which makes the song really really short unfortunately! Another reason why this is ranking last out of the three releases as of now!

nmixx really establishing their own sound now like woah. they're really a breath of fresh air and giving us something new. been into kpop since 2nd gen and really haven't heard anything similar to the songs they released this comeback
fr i love how they're just doing their own thing instead of trying to follow whatever the latest trend is
Their whole discography is such a fresh breath, every song is unique and they try new genres instead of just sticking to what can give them numbers, I hope more people give them love, they work hard and deserve appreciation at least

I feel like they had no idea what direction NMIXX should go when they debuted. But if this is the route they wanna take in the future, I'm all here for it! It sounds way more structured while still not losing their "MixxPop" style. It just feels like there's finally a plan behind it!

@@iqrafatima9375its just sad that people always expect nmixx’s songs to be “bad” because of O.O which isn’t even that bad. The group have released so many good songs since then, people just don’t know because they never gave them a chance after debut. Hopefully this would change in the future.

I think NMIXX future is really bright. Whether we think their song is bad, good, a grower, or a bop, I think its safe to say that theyre doing such an incredible job at defining and mastering their own unique identity. In my opinion theyre one of the groups (if not, the the only group) right now whos shaping their own genre, not genre whos shaping them. I mean yes mixpop is a genre but NMIXX is shaping that genre in its finest to point where we can say "Thats an NMIXX genre". They never invented mixpop but oh God Mixxpop has never been this goooood! Nmixx holds a great power in terms of music because their genre is basically limitless.
Nmixx has a solid identity and concept. People just got to keep up with them, they never went out of their way to please the public and that’s what I love sm about them.
Also, The confusion comes from prejudices about them and the fact that their sound is very different !

Dash was their best attempt at Mixxpop yet. They actually sounded amazing on the song when they were singing, especially Kyujin, Bae and Haewon

This groovy vocal heavy upbeat vibe works well for NMIXX. Now that we’ve gotten a few songs that push that vibe I hope that helps them solidify this as their base sound. They can certainly mix it up, but it’s clear this is their strength so I hope they lean into it.
All in all, a very successful, high quality mini album all around for NMIXX.
NMIXX are in my top always.

Dash sounds like what someone who's so experienced in the industry like Boa who doesn't need to conform to public taste and just wanna showcase their musicality would release. It somehow reminds me so much of better?
NMIXX Dash Just has a different impact on the international charts because it's something about the beat and choreography that you're seeing more than anything

im so glad bae got to shine in these songs! shes generally considered the weakest vocalist and while it may be true, shes still main vocalist material for her tone alone. she EATS up the hiphop tone and her low voice absolutely shapes these two songs, squ4d is finally utilizing her potential properly and it pays off so fucking well
No shade to Jiwoo but I always thought she was the weakest because her only really “vocally” challenging parts I remember her getting are:
Party o’clock post chorus
Passionfruit last chorus
Cool post chorus
Dash really is like a fine-tuned version of their Mixxpop concept. O.O or Tank was all over the place for the sake of wow factor but it was overwhelming. Dash actually feels like a natural progression of their sound identity, there's still mix of sounds in different sections of the song but there's cohesiveness to it and it transitions better. What I pioe most is their vocals are showcased more here.
As for Run for Roses it's quiet a different song for kpop in general, so it's interesting.

The changeup part was the smallest (25 sec) out of all the releases... Not too long to feel disjointed from part one. I think jyp figured out, keep the switch up short.
i recommend checking out one of the live-fancams of 'Run for roses' from their concerts.
I been listening to those live-cams for months and i think the live feel makes the song even better than studio

not a big fan of 'DASH' but HOLY MOLY THEIIIR B-SIDES ARE INSAAAAANE
Dash MV cool as F w the captive prisoner motif, zebra suit inspired fashion (even put in an actual zebra!) and "I wanna dash" chorus with motive to break the hell out. The final sign showing "Hey you bastards I'm still here" taken from movie "Papillon" when Steve McQueen finally escapes from Devils Island penal colony after many years of an unjust imprisonment. Highly recommend that movie even though it is a bit old it is a classic.

Hey, this is my stan :) I'm really happy to see they are back and to listen to their amazing works. Thank you a lot for your review. I agree with your opinion (Dash is shorter than ... ) but I also understand JPYE's producers' and management's stance. It is critical timing for NMIXX to build up a large fandom in the bloody competitions among 4 gen girl groups. They should give up something. BTW, please listen to the other songs. Those are also killers.
I think i've replayed run for roses like a bajillion times so far😅. What's even funnier is i didn't like it on the 1st listen but now i'm obsessed. Lilly's vocals are the best. Dash is alright too but i think i like run for roses a lil more between the 2. I originally didn't like the sound Nmixx started out with when they were sampling and trying things out and stuff but i think they've immensely improved on their "nmixxy-sound" and it sounds a lot more balanced and not all over the place anymore. Plus i feel that the new album sounds like 2009-2010 vibes like beat musical wise idk. My fav part is the dum dum ladidi part. Run for roses almost gives me a mixture of Bratz and Tangled vibes with mid 2000s sound if you get me. I love it. This group has had some serious character development since the first awful 0.0 song. I've grown to love this group as they keep getting better. Lily has gotta be my fav girl her vocals are real good. I can kinda see the pirate western vibes you were talking about too.
