The frontier 12 is an awesome kayak for smaller lakes, ponds, and rivers. Especially for a big fella like myself.
Although slower to paddle, I purchased it for its incredible stability . I can drift at a great pace while fishing . Not too fast, not too slow. I also have a minkota bow mounted trolling motor with i-pilot, which is an absolute game changer! Even though i fish mostly on smaller bodies of water in upstate NY, fishing the finger lakes, Lake ontario, and the Saint lawrence River has not been an issue at all. I do tend to stay closer to the shoreline on the bigger bodies of water. The wind can pick up in a hurry on the bigger lakes.
I have a Flint with 360. Love that seat.
Wifey's Pelican we bought for $300 at Costco (thermo formed) came off the top of my camper shell going 25 mph, rocketed off a cliff and down through trees. I got it back on the road and it had one little scuff. No leaks.
Pelicans are built tough core sure
With a hull that tough please consider joining a
paid river tour at Snail Shell Cave in Tennessee.
I walked, waded, and swam it before taking that
paid adventure. I used an Ocean Kayak Frenzy
Model to go there and also see Nickajack Cave.
I have the NuCanoe Unlimited with a Minn Kota Ipilot. I fish and crab the Puget Sound with it. Also great for lakes. With the I Pilot, Fish Finder and a downrigger, it’s a fishing machine! Super stable!
That's right! you got a dream setup right there
I have an older Frontier 12. Paddle only bit duck hunt rivers in winter, small mouth in summer on class I and II rivers and even fish with my son in Chesapeake Bay. Its stable as heckler and great platform. Love open deck for fly fishing. Nice niche boat but dreaming of a PA14 for the bay.
I’m guessing you may be in the DMV right? I’m looking at this for the Shenandoah river and local lakes. Would you recommend?
I have a Frontier 12 Nucanoe, I use it for duck hunting. I have thought about the Fronteir 10, maybe it would be a bit faster to paddle. Think I could fit my decoys, do and me. I paddle on my kneew and dont use seats
I have two Nucanoes. An F12 with an Nk180s and a Flint as more of a throw and go paddle kayak. Both awesome and super stable.
See the comments no one owns the 10
As always, great video and great content.
Thanks next video should be epic too
I'd go with the catch. Isn't the catch two piece thermo formed? Which is actually very durable compared to blow molded?
That’s my opinion, David has a different view
Thermoformed is lighter, not as durable as roto molded. Neither of these kayaks is blow molded.
interesting, maybe you can do a video on the types of materials used on kayaks? which manufacturer use which?
100% maybe a factory walkthrough of each of the major companies, hobie, old town, Jackson and maybe pelican
@@AliexFolgueira but I thought back in the day Pelican was rotomold. It was even labeled on their kayaks. Supposedly they were one of the 1st to rotomold. Now they using ""blow mold"" ???
I had a fishing Pelican castaway 116 and that thing took plenty of abuse hate that I sold years ago. Guy I sold it too still using it. Its like over 12 yrs old. So now Pelican using a different mold? Very interesting
@@gabe428 pelicans were never rotomolded, they are thermoform
It's not my style of yak but if i had to pick its the nu canoe over the pelican for sure. Great vid Aliex
What’s up brother
@@AliexFolgueira not much, just waiting on some decent weather to go fishing again. Its been 15-20 mph winds every weekend or rain for over a month here in SC. I saw you got out the other day, I hope you caught some
@@EvansGoneFishing autopilot 120 beats 15-20 mph wind easy! Of course i caught fish you know me! Hahah but of course it was not what i wanted lol a lizard and a jack
@@AliexFolgueira I like the AP 120 but my outback is all I really need. I actually want the AP 120 but cant afford it lol. Its not so much kayaking in the wind but casting in the wind. It makes for a mess and more of an unpleasant time. Jacks are always a fun fight. I caught my first lizard fish last year I knew what it was but it surprised me haha
A kayak shop owber that doesnt know the difference between thermoformed and blow molding....
A Hobie dealer that doesnt know the Passport and Outback are made of the same material, polyethylene.
The reason Thermoformed kayaks are cheaper is the through put is much quicker.
Where is this shop at?
Great video bud! I like the traditional sit on top yak over this boatcanyak ha!
What’s your fav boat Blake? Say you got $10,000 and can only spend it on kayaks
It would have to be the Hobie PA12
I love the looks of it along with everything it comes with.
As usual, great job Aliex. Great content 👍
Thanks brother, what do you think of the titles lately ?
@@AliexFolgueira I like them. They definitely catch your attention!
@@noellaboy7980 thanks brother, if it gets too crazy let me now
@@AliexFolgueira I will 😂👍
One more question , can you take a pedal kyak and convert it to foot pedal
Like a paddle only kayak and put a drive on it ?
@@AliexFolgueira what kind of drive ?
I like my Nucanoe Frontier 12. I also own a pelican catch pwr 100.
Yes it seems like people prefer the 12 over the 10, do you like the 10?
Rotomolded kayaks can be very durable. My opinion, NuCanoe is the worst when it comes to the higher end kayaks. Grab a NuCanoe then grab ahold of a wilderness systems, or a Jackson or pretty much any other kayak in that range. Then tell me the NuCanoe feels as solid.
Love the Nucanoe
Still might visit Iron Street but when released from the city hospital
I was gifted with a pair of yellow kayaks. Absolutely nothing like Nu-
canoe. Both outfitted to share cave exploration inside your county
and British Columbia. Two because it is known I will cut up one of a
pair of hulls of the same model. To weld hull material over serious
impact damage. Like, rock fall or hull impalement on a stalagmite.
Have a nice day.
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Awesome stuff dude
Boom
You know it is awesome stuff even before you watch it 😌 we rock here
I don’t think David knows as much about Pelicans thermoformed kayaks as he thinks he does.
I have to side with Alex on this debate.
Truth. We have 4 rotomolded kayaks, and my goto and favorite is the thermoformed (NOT blowmolded!) Pelican Catch 120!
@@DEADorALIVEkayaking in all honesty, I’ve got a 2021 Hobie PA12, and a 2021 Pelican Catch110HD2, and I think the Pelican would take more abuse dragging it along things than the Hobie would.
@@fisheyeguy is the catch stabile enough to stand and cast?
@@thatdudeonyoutube I can stand, but I don’t like to. A lot of people do though. I couldn’t stand very long in my old Hobie Outback either though. I don’t have the best balance.
@@fisheyeguy good to know thanks for the help 🤙
I have the frontier 12 and I walk on it like on a boat they are very stable
frontier it is :)
Hey Aliex , where you been. Been waiting for new post glac to see you back
Hi Rick yeah I took some time off but I’m back even went fishing yesterday, 2-3 videos a week now for sure
@@AliexFolgueira cool
F10 is an amazing boat. My preferred kayak
You went in there looking for a scrap hahaha
What ?
@@AliexFolgueira I was just kidding lol. You were talking about the pelican and that guy was kind of insinuating the frontier was better quality. I think some people underestimate the durability of pelican kayaks.
Nice Aliex!! But wait...is it Fred proof??🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
i wanna test that, put alfred on it, trolling two chickens...see if fred shows up lol
Pelican kayaks are NOT blow molded. Here's the difference: ua-cam.com/video/rQWpxNRDxbs/v-deo.html
I was always told that most plastic is sourced out from the same places , just a different process of making roto and thermo...lol
Yup plastic is plastic welcome back
@@AliexFolgueira Have I subbed to you , not sure if I did or not , bin meaning to.
So technically it's a boat without a motor? Then why not just buy a aluminum boat?
Frontier 10 is a non starter. Anyone serious goes for the F12
great video! I like your channel. have you ever thought in making videos in spanish?
I did a few just don’t have enough time , day job family etc, maybe one day when I only do UA-cam
blow molded and thermoformed are two different manufacturing methods!. the plastic in hobie rotomolded kayaks is the fucking same in hobie thermoformed passports. tell that dealer to learn what the fuck he is talking about!
This. I was at my hobie dealer and he was shitting on the passport. He was telling me how and why the passport is fragile and wont last because of how it was made. So I plyed dumb and let him go on and on.
Eventually I had to tell him they are made from the sane Polyethylene. One is rotomolded and one is thermoformed. The passport has a minimum of .250". I went on to explain more. He asked what I did for a living. I then told him Im a mechanical engineer in manufacturing. He got quiet and walked away.
I love nucanoes.
Which one/?
@@AliexFolgueira I like all the models but the unlimited is my favorite.
Which boat is the one "nobody" likes?
the one we covered in the video
@@AliexFolgueira you bounced around lol
Alex don’t ever say that Canada is the same as USA
yeah lately they went nuts with covid restrictions
🤔
Tell me I’m getting better at titles! Hey I went fishing yesterday, I saw a school of them but THEY DIDNT BITE! can you believe this ??? They casted me out
NuCanoe is just higher quality, period. My first yak was a Pelican Tidewater 100x - they make the cheapest available functional stuff. That NuCanoe is solid.
Do you have a contract with pelican or something? You seem to be working hard to not be mean to pelican by telling the truth about the material/manufacturing differences and the quality of the final product. Pelicans have their value, but they do not belong in the same genre as a NuCanoe - NuCanoe is top of the line, proven for decades.
Your argument against rotomolding is basically "what about this 1 specific example?"
It's a higher quality end product.
The older guy knows his stuff
edit: figured I'd add this - I've been in a Radar 115 w/Helix drive for about 5 years now. Pelican made complete garbage prior to the Ride, which is actually not bad for a kid or someone who isn't really serious about fishing hard. For me, the $1,800 I spent on a pedal drive and super-stable kayak was justified. It depends on the individual what level of quality is worth spending for - you can catch fish off a piece of plywood with floats attached - just get, or make, what is best for your personal use scenario.
HAHA it was so funny to see him sh!t all over your plastic kayak talking about how they wear out! My aluminum boat doesnt wear out!
I’m gonna add a boat this year, it will be a plastic boat 😜
@@AliexFolgueira you have enough plastic boats... try a real one.
I own an F12 and I mainly use it for duck hunting. I can go to places that your aluminum crap can only dream of going
@@deadgoat3783 the only places your kayak can go that an aluminum boat can't is over a water fall, or the landfill. Air boat, mud dog, jet, or paddle, we can get there. Think before you type.
@@lowlife7453 You just talked to me about the big pile of crap compared to a kayak... Try to get through a beaver dam with your 16-foot aluminum boat all by yourself or do legal jump shooting with your boat. Dude, be serious for a moment- a kayak has way more advantages than a boat, even though I have both
Their old seats were terrible..very flimsy and uncomfortable.
Remember the og boat seats ?
@@AliexFolgueira that’s what I had! They would bend all the way back to the floor..
bro you look hella different
I do look like a different person depending how my hair or beard or had is lol
Teamfun
lets go!
💯😁👍
Good morning Victor!
🤘🏻🎣🎣🎣
How effective was the title my crypto brother ?
Well I was coming into the video thinking you was gonna point out why everyone hates kayaks and in fact you showed why everyone likes kayaks and their still booming better then ever. So I say it works great 👍🏻
Gotta be honest the click bait titles are getting a little old. Why not just call Nucanoe frontier 10 or something like that?
Because 3 people would watch it! Lol 😂 like why would you watch a movie say endgame… IRONMAN TRAVELS THRU TIME SNAPS FINGERS AND DIES …like why would you watch ?
@@AliexFolgueira Because people want what they want. I typed Nucanoe F10 into google along with other keywords to find videos of the F10. Of course, I scrolled and looked for a video that you may have done with the F10 and couldn't find one. That was last week. Today I thought, I'm going to go right into Aliex's channel and do a search and even then I wasn't sure if this video was about the F10 but then I saw the word F10 down in your description. So the question is: Are you trying and wanting to give people information that they want or are you just trying to get people to watch your videos whether they want to or not?🤷♂
