I once admired my senior in highschool. Actually ahead siya sa'kin ng 2 years. He was a good friend from what I observed, matalino, masipag, mabait, God-centered, family-oriented basta role model na student. Inaabangan ko sya lagi pag flag ceremony, recess pero madalas sa corridor and masaya na ako kahit masulyapan lang siya. Nakwento ko sa bespren ko yung about dun sa gusto kong boy and she was supportive. Saktong nagkaron ng leadership training sa school for days and destined pa kaming maging groupmates. We've had our moments, memorable ones. Hindi ko alam kung pano nangyari pero my bespren and him became closer to the point na mapapasanaol ka nalang. Napakaganda ng bespren ko and he's too good for me na everytime na napapatugtog to, naaalala kong hanggang pangarap ko nalang talaga siya. Lalo pa nung sinabi ng bespren ko na nagugustuhan nya na rin si boy, right at that moment I rejected myself, I accepted the truth that I'll never have a chance. Acceptance yung kinailangan ko para makaahon sa kanya. And when I was finally over him, he confessed. He liked me for years. back when we are still in junior highschool, i dedicated this song to my situation when i fell in love with this girl who is way out of my league. She’s smart, pretty, and she truly care for the people she loves. I had a crush on her for the longest time but i never had the courage to tell her about my feelings. I just went and do things for her that i normally do for other people. My friends know what i feel about her but they say that i have no chance, because she prioritize studies and stuff like that. The hardest part is that as much i wanted to confess to her, i can’t. Because im a girl. And it was so hard for me cross that line because I too was afraid of judgement. I just keep quiet whenever someone’s trying to ask her out on a date or when her friends keeps teasing her about this guy in our class.
But as of now, i am confident about who i am and i probably can confess to her properly, but the fact that i havent seen her for 2 years already is another obstacle.

The girl isn't just conservative, she's chinese and it's in her family tradition to not marry anyone of different race.. so just goes to show why she's hesitant to even act upon her feelings, since she can't even have him in the first place. Not only that, she's expected to marry someone who has status or money, bottom line is that guy should be a well to do chinese merchant..nothing else. It might be simple to you or anyone outside of the chinese community, but it's synonymous to the middle eastern tradition of arranged marriage or marrying your cousins. It's ingrained and if you go against it you risk being disowned by your family or ridiculed by the chinese community. I experienced this first hand because I'm from a chinese family strictly practicing this tradition. Even if the guy is rich, as long as he is not chinese, it doesn't matter.. and going against it is like banging your head against a concrete wall. A lot of us now do try to resist this tradition but it still persist regardless. So consider yourself lucky you don't experience this out of date tradition, and quit judging people coz you totally missed the point of the video coz it surely takes more than just "COMMON SENSE" to brave through such a situation.
