  • The Fostering Lions program at Penn State is a support mentor program created to improve postsecondary outcomes for foster youths through support in four key areas: financial, academic and career planning, social and emotional needs, and logistics.
Education coordinator and program coach, Cheri McConnell focuses on supporting the whole person, not just getting them to graduation. Access to higher education is broader than financial aid, and the Fostering Lions program helps these students picture what success looks like and supports them in their journeys.
This is true for current Penn State York sophomore and Fostering Lions student, Charlie Keller-Golden. He shares his story of how Cheri and the Fostering Lions Program provide the support needed to focus on his ultimate goal.

What a wonderful program, and well-produced video. Didn't know programs such as this existed.
