Can any VR nerds explain to me how Zen's 3D room works without being in VR?
Sounds like using vive trackers or similar, probably running in the Unity engine or similiar with a custom scene as a 3d room. Those trackers are used in applications for more then just VR chat, even used in the movie industry attached to cameras and other things.
She explained it rather succintly, she has a programmer on payroll that's working on setting this stuff up without needing a VR headset. Effectively it's just recreating what already exists in a new way. Just iterating on the process and paving new ground where needed. The foundation was laid long ago so even if this is all coded from scratch, there's a blueprint to look at.
What WE see is not what she sees, though. Our point of view is basically what would be the headset lens in other VR programs. Her movements are all traced using ordinary trackers, which are part of the core function of VR gear, and I guess the camera is/has its own tracker so she can fling it around. She cant see the VR world she's interacting with though, unless she also puts on a headset, but she can see the effects via whatever program she's using, I would assume.
My guess is that when that project is finished, the 3D room will be identical to her RL room, so she wont need a headset. I've been wanting to do something similar myself, turn my whole apartment into a VR space. I'm hoping the program is not gonna be exclusive, maytbe she or her programmer will be selling it.

@@Miesha88 afaik you can already track yourself outside of vrchat without a headset with Virtual Motion Capture and place yourself into a room with VSeeFace, But im really confused how are you as a streamer will be able to control your surroundings without a headset

You know how meta this type of programme could be? Imagine watching a live feed of her stream on a computer in that room while were watching the stream. Or she could put us in front of the telly and she'll work on other shit cause shes a good grandmother.

I would love to try that shit out myself, but in addition to a generic room, I'd include a studio, lounge, in-home bar, a pristine environment in the back, a low key cyberpunkish environment outside the front & a slipgate hub.
