Subscribed, love your video's. About the border station: what we noticed when we rode the passes between Chile and Argentina is that each country would put their border station well below the actual geographical border, because the actual border would be really high up in the mountains. So it makes no sense for the border patrol guards to drive up there everyday. I do wonder why this one was abandoned though, probably because, as you noted, there is absolutely no one using this road. I think the Chilean sign says something about that this is the only border post on the pass, so also for Chile, and that they aided in providing the infrastructure needed for the station. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Awesome - thanks so much! That certainly makes sense. The reason we had such a dramatic reaction to stumbling across the border station, was that we cannot legally bring the motorcycle back into Chile. Amazing vídeo! I was there at the beginning of the year riding my motorcycle. "inexplicable" defines how beautiful the landscapes of Argentina and Chile are. If I can give you a tip, take the road between "Tafí del valle", to "Cafayate" and "Salta", at route 40 and 68, head north to a village called Iruya, it's beautiful. In Argentina and Chile there are numerous money exchange stations called "Western Union", it is the best option to exchange money(at least for now). As they say in Argentina: Buenas rutas
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets My plan was to cross the entire continent, from east to west, only to dip my feet in the pacific ocean and come back hahahahaha , and I did so. I left the south of Brazil, passed through the entire north of Argentina, visited beautiful places like Tafi del Vale, Cafayate, Salta, Tilcara, Huamauaca, Iruya, came back and crossed to Chile through Paso de Jama, stayed for a few days in San Pedro de Atacama to discover the tatio geyseres, valley of the moon, some salt water lagoons, as well as the salt flats of argentina and bolivia. The final destination was the mano del desierto (desert hand) near Antofagasta, Chile. To return, I came via Paso San Francisco, it is a beautiful road with breathtaking landscapes, however, the bike needs to have a range of at least 470km, of which 470km, 110km are not paved, so you need to be a little careful on this one. If you come to Brazil again, send me a dm on Instagram, it will be a pleasure to welcome you and have a real Brazilian barbecue.
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Fun fact: the people of Argentina are very religious. u've probably seen some small red houses (shrines) on the side of the road, these shrines are dedicated to a man called "gauchito gil" today he is a saint and protects travelers. Some people leave cigarettes, redd flags and drinks as offerings in exchange for protection. Long story short: during the 60s-70s in the triple alliance war (Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay joined together against Paraguay) Gauchito Gil was forced to serve the Argentine army. he deserted and was persecuted by the Argentine army because deserting was a serious crime. Gauchito Gil was captured and executed. His last words were trying to justify his desertion, claiming that his son was very sick(dying) and needed help. Knowing that this would be of no use, Gauchito Gil asked the people around him to pray for him after his death, so that only then could his sick son be saved. And so it was done. miraculously Gauchito Gil's son was cured of the terrible disease after some weeks and after that, Gauchito Gil began to be considered a saint. There are several versions of this story and each region of Argentina tells a different story. If you go south, near Ushuaia, you will see small shrines in the name of another saint, called "Difunta correa", This is another interesting story, but that's for another time haha

Wow, first all Happy New Year to you both, get drunk and get naked. Wow now this is my kind of video, you knocked it out of the park with this one, only wish I was there as well, and that border crossing, what was up with that and why have an outpost there, you both are like me, I’d pilfer all I could around there and try every door, the more remote a place is the more I love it, and that cool campground you were at, what a great place to explore all, can’t wait for next video, maybe you’ll give more details on that abandon border crossing. Take care you two, watch each others back. Rob U.S.

The app is called Star Tracker. 🌟

Welcome! Greetings from Guyana! 🍻
amazing adventure
It was indeed!
The two of you and your gear how many pounds do you figure the motorcycle was carrying
To be perfectly honest, we haven't the faintest idea (only because we don't want to know). 😳 😁😁
Hi, i'm from indonesia. this is my first time wacthing this channel. the view is nice on the way, if i may give a suggestion, the video has indonesian substitles so that many viewers from indonesia will see and like your channel. i like adventure and i wacth a lot of adventure videos. thank you for your video and infomation you provided during your adventure, i hope you are always healthy and safe on your trip. wellcome to the adventure.
Thank you, and welcome to the channel! Yes, we just started subtitling our videos in Indonesian as well!! 👍
Que maravilla de ruta!!......amazing route and video....thanks for sharing
Do you have the tracks for this route?
I was trying to find it on Google Earth but I coudn't and I would like to make this route as soon as posible, since I live in Santiago and is not so far away
Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I don't use a GPS for navigation, so unfortunately, no tracks... However, you should be able to use the embedded maps along with the coordinates from my InReach. I added shots from various camps and POI with elevations & coordinates! 👍
Rob U.S.
Well, for starters I am drunk and naked, which makes this conversation a bit awkward... 😳
And yes, we do try every door... so stay tuned! And as far as the campsites, well you haven't seen anything yet!! 😁
Thank you for supporting the channel!!
Have an awesome New Year and we'll see you again in 2024!! 🍻💪
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets same to you both my brother
this is perfect camping area
Not bad, eh??
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets 😂😂 yesssss
I like it, I'm was already here...
You crossed the border at Pircas Negras? Was the station open?? 😑
It was closed in 26 december 2023, I liked your videos..
I will follow you here, I from Brazil. 👍🏻👍🏻🤝🏻🤝🏻
Ride safe always maam and sir..im from philippines
Thank you! You too!
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets god bless
02:18 “..nearly worthless..” hurts.
I know... the inflation is horrible. The fact that the Argentinian people have managed to survive is a testiment to how resilient they are. I just hope things improve soon!! 😐
How many miles on your Africa twin now?
Miles... 🤔 I suppose around 50k or so...
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Nice, I'm thinking of getting one, they seem very durable and have good longevity and reliability.
I love mine, especially 2-up. Solo I ride a CB500x.
She sure can be a smartass! Hahaha “There’s no one out here. Yeah I noticed that!”
Ha ha! I'm not sure if she was being a smart-ass or if she was genuinely concerned... 😅
Is it a good motorcycle, is it worth buying? Africa Twin 1100
Yes! But I've always been a Honda guy, so I'm biased. BUT... Hondas have taken me to some very remote places and have never let me down!!
Thank you very much for answering
🤩😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
🍻
amazing
Is that water?
I dunno.....you wanna taste it?
That's one way to find out!
It will be great if we can hear the bike's exhaust sound instead of music.
Noted - thank you for the feedback! 💪
I hope someday we can meet on indonesia street sir....
We are looking forward to exploring Indo some day! 👍
My first video - I am spellbound.
Ha ha - right on!! Welcome to the channel... 🍻

Hi there , is that a BMW motorcycle?
That lady is really Cute .
Nope... Honda Afric Twin...
Yup... she is really cute... 🖤

We're busy editing now!! 👍
Viele grüße aus Berlin 😊
Cheers from Suriname! 🍻
Класная музыка в начале )))❤ кто это ?)
Thank you! I'm not sure about the artist. It is from a music licensing service called Epidemic Sound... 🍻
be careful with land mines at the border.
Thank you - luckily, we didn't come across any!!
@7:13 i can imagine the amount of load on your shoulders bro, Love your content keep it up #isubscribed
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel 🍻
Those lakes and ponds are full of ARSNIC...DO NOT DRINK the water in the Altiplano! Hope this isn't too late for you.
Yeah, turns out that water is no bueno!! Luckily, we didn't up drinking any of it, as it was too damn salty!
❤👍😊
🍻
I'm going to invest in an armadillo fuel bladder and a cuctus water bladder, for just those reasons
Yup, neither you nor the bike will get far without fuel and water! We carry both Fuel and water bladders, but didn't bother filling the water bladder because "there's plenty of water in them thar hills".
As it turns out, there was plenty of water, we just couldn't drink it... 😬
The lady at the BANK told him where to exchange currency at a clothing store
Reminds me when we went everywhere in a town in Baja Mexico looking for milk
Well it's at the bakery only, well stupid me running to all those grocery stores
Yup....sometimes that's just how things work. Might not make a whole lot of sense to us, but at the end of the day, I guess it doesn't have to... 😅
maybe google maps can be good on the normal roads, but i think Osmand could be better then google maps...
We use Maps.Me on occasion. Haven't tried OsmAnd yet... 🤔
Dont drink that water from green bottle!
Don't worry, we didn't! 😃
The music put me off watching.
Sorry to hear that...
Mystery juice
Never did figure out what it was... 🤔
Why you Moto you tubers insist on traveling these third world undeveloped sketchy countries is beside me. 😂 You guys deserve everything you get 😂
Agreed - I'll take it as a compliment! I've been exploring South America for 20 years now. Long before I laid tread on the continent, I was living and running a business here. So, my definition of "sketchy" probably differs a bit from yours... 😉
Come to Iraq
Looking forward to it!
I hate this efects in this video, I'm an autist. But liked!
Well... thank you for the like... 👍
If you have unwanted chilean pesos and need worthless argentinian pesos... maybe you shouldn't be there.
Awww... you found something to be offended by - congratulations! 🍨
So annoying with subtitles bruh
A couple people have mentioned that. In that case, we're happy to ditch them. Less work on our part...
Thanks for the feedback!
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets I can't see video... subtitles are takings almost half the screen 😇😇😇
Don't like your music choices..........
I'm sorry...
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets…don’t be. It’s great. I use similar on some of my videos as well.
@wingandhog ha ha... thanks! You can never please everyone... 😊
