A true master shows that it doesn't take ear-splitting volume to bring the house down. A gentle Stratocaster and some genuine soul do the job just fine.
and a musical thief..though he called it borrowing..."never ending love song" wasn't written by him..it was stolen by him...yeah he could sing..whoopee...
I never tire of hearing this song and so wish he and Bonnie would have been able to make their relationship last. Imagine what music could have been like if those two had stayed in the business together for the past couple decades. This song says it all--the highs and lows of fame.l I am sorry his voice is now stilled..............
This song raises the age old question- is the joy of reaching the top worth the pain of being discarded (as is so standard in the entertainment world), or is it better to have never known either the highs or lows? Delaney was (and is) a musical genius. He candidly admitted that his own poor decisions are what shot down the Delaney and Bonnie star. Greatness is a funny thing, though, especially in the internet era. Even if it goes under-appreciated in its own time, it doesn't stay down forever.
And he's now the singer in that blues band up in Heaven. So for now the rest of us back on Earth no longer have a voice. Delaney, the pain was too great for you to bear so we will bear it for you. Miss you so much.
THis is so great ...thanks for posting. I am a recent Delaney and Bonnie fan , What is he doing now....? THis is so heartfelt...........its how you image music was before......well before progress.
The only white guy I know that could match the soul of a black man in his vocals. What an unbelievable musical legacy and it's amazing how many people have never heard of him or his influence on pop music. RIP...too bad, so sad.
very underrated super talent - never got his due - 4 some1 who taught other greats he should hav been more revered he was EXCELLENT super talented family - delaney, bonnie & bekka
you know there are reasons why he will never get into the hall..maybe you should look those up...how many hit songs did they have? he "claims" to have written all the songs on Layla with Eric..strange how Bobby Whitlock's name is there with Eric...might be one of the reasons...
@@mikeadams2351 It' s educational to note that Delaney was very adept at hoarding other musicians ideas and capitalizing on them in the process. I think he was a terrific singer and performer but I don't trust the presence of his name on songwriting credits.
Agreed. They are doing it on purpose I'm sure. Like Todd Rundgren & Peter Frampton. I met Delaney in 1978 and he invited me to watch him work in the recording studio over several days. He said, "Let me show you how the big boys do it". I listened and learned from a man who showed George Harrison how to slide. I am grateful for the time he gave me. Truly a good hearted country man. I didn't get famous but I still play with some guys in Nashville. Just for fun.
look the guy played with some famous people..THAT'S it...sure he stole some songs but does that make him ready for the hall? they were NEVER that popular..hell mention their name and nobody knows who you're talking about...quick name their BIG hit...do I hear crickets?

Very nice. I'm just kind of checking through UA-cam seeing what kind of competition my granddaughter's up against with her new music video. It's obvious there are a lot of talented people out here.
If you keep looking at the competition instead of perfecting your skills, you might as well hang it up because all you got is a loser's mentality. Come on, you can do better. 11/22/2020
@zbestwun2001 the guitar in question was Duane's at one time which he sold and Delaney ended up with it and then Duane wanted it back but he said; "no way" and it was a Les Paul Jr.
If indeed that's Duane's guitar, trust me Delaney did not MAKE him give it to him, anymore than he MADE, Harrison give him his Strat. They gifted D with them.
I believe it's on Delaney and Bonnie's first record on the Stax label - Home. I think it's been re-release. Fantastic record. I've only become aware of it recently. I think it was released by Stax during this crazy promotion that Al Bell put together in 69 or 70 in which they released something like 27 records at the same time...no wonder this one never got any traction.
Thank you for the information. I’m going to try and find it. Pontotoc is my hometown and I can’t believe I waited this long in life to learn about him.
I'm trying to figure out where I have seen the female back up vocalist. the best i can come up with is JJ Cale's rhythm guitarist of many years but i don't think so. Very familiar looking though. anyone ?

Delaney Bramlett. What more can you say. It makes a sentence.
fabulous blues/rock talent, just like his wife & daughter. he's still w/us in bekka.
Still brings me to tears ten years after.
Every time I see this clip the tears come.
Miss you Delaney.
❤️ Chad Watson!! Delaney Bramlett had soul, deep soul
Delaney and Janice Waldrop were voted most cute as seniors at Randolph High School.
This clip never fails to bring me to tears.
Tears of grief at the loss of this deep soul.
I will never forget you Delaney.

Incredible talent. He deserves sooo much more recognition than he has. Such an inspiring musician.
That voice has always brought a smile to my mouth and tears to my eyes.
Wow. Hearing this for the first time. I've listened 4 times. Wow! What voices.
Thanks for the post. Loving the memories. Thanks Delaney. My heart pours to your family and loved ones.

Some of these posts are 10 years old and still no Delaney and Bonnie induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. SAD

Fame is overrated. Fun with good friends is priceless and forever. A comment under Linda Ronstadt's version brought me here. What a lovely detour!

I believe they were Chad Watson and Essra Mohawk.
The instrumentation is so sparse, yet the arrangement is incredibly powerful. True to the soul music tradition.
I just discovered him. I am from Pontotoc also. I can’t believe I’m just discovering him. Which album is this song on? I want to buy it now!!!

Essra Mohawk ... I though the bass player looked a bit like Tim Drummond but apparently it's Chad Watson.

michael mcdonald was pretty soulful for a white guy too. maybe not quite as much as mr. bramlett though.
