Any advice for freshman? I’m a freshman myself and I’m being forced to audition. 😭
what is the model of the your flute?
How long did it take you to practice to record it?
That's a little hard to answer! I first learned this for TMEA in 2006-2007, and I have revisited and taught this a few times since. After the etudes were announced on Monday, I spent a couple of hours over a few days relearning and cleaning before recording everything.
@@brianallredflute wow okay
Very nice
Do have any tips for this particular etude?
Go slowly and work through small chunks initially (3-7 notes or 1/2 beat up to a beat plus one note). Pay close attention to your key signature and accidentals throughout - it's certainly much harder to have to fix notes later in the learning process. Try to observe patterns (like when it's chromatic or if there is a sequence). As this gets more under your fingers, flexibility will also be a challenge. I like practicing music like this with flutter tongue to keep the air moving even with all of the big leaps.
I'm thinking about making a practice video for the etudes (possibly one for each) with a slow run with metronome and more suggestions. Would this be helpful?
@@brianallredflute I'd really appreciate the practice videos! Especially since this year's music seems more demanding than last year
I've just posted some practice videos for each etude, too. The videos for etudes 1 and 3 include slow runs and some other practice strategies. Hope they help!
what flute do you have
I'm an Altus artist, and my flute is the 1707, made from 99.7% silver. I've recently been revisiting this 14k Haynes headjoint after not using it for 4 years or so.
