The short story in the video description really adds perspective to the video and makes it all so much better knowing the situation not just seeing a moment and not understanding the context. Love ya guts guys keep inspiring us all
the fact that "dear Tom" adds pretty much every time "dear" and "sweet" to the names of his fellow musicians , friends ans so on , indicates the goodness of his soul ! bless you Tom , for that !
Tom, thanks for taking the time to fill the description with such great detail! Super cool that you documented this rare moment! The variance from pedal to pedal is really eye opening.
My main stratocaster has the initials of my 10-12 favorite guitarists/guitar heroes carved into the body with a soldering iron.😅 These two are both on it. Two of the greatest on the same session 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Man what a cool video and a great way to wake up and have your morning coffee to on a day off. KWS, Uncle Larry, 3 original Univibes in one room. How cool is that? Can't wait to hear that track.
Great opportunity to A/B/C a few great vibes. Uncle Larry here has been through more gear than anyone any of us knows. And many of us in town, myself included, now own fantastic pieces of gear that he decided to move. My main Les Paul is still a sweet old no-volute 69 Custom I got from Uncle Larry with the original rectangle case.
Saw KWS post the pic of the 3 vibes on Instagram and thought, “ I bet those sound cool. Wish I could hear them.” So I switch over to UA-cam and this is the first video to pop up on my feed. Man, sometimes the planets just align. Thanks for the bts look at the crazy world of guitar nerdery.
KWS knows his Uni-Vibes! I got mine for $150 in 1987 when no one cared about old pedals. Kenny is right...they are huge signal suckers. Mine doesn’t go anywhere near as fast as that one on the left, but I never use the fastest setting.
How are your thumbs Tom. All that description typing had to be murder on your thumbs bro. Thanks Kenny Wayne for being a special guest on vintage gear day in class. And the fact that Uncle Larry has a uni-vibe is not lost on me 😎
Load bloooown! KWS is a total badass, Slow Ride was such a killer song of his with the vibe! Uncle Larry this channel is pure fuckin' gold. The oldest one has a "chewier" vibe. So killer!
Big difference in sound and wonderfulness. Man, all the gear I have parted with over the decades. I still have a couple of Dallas and Maestro Fuzztones. I have a rack mount Deja Vibe from the 90s serial number 0002, Michael Landau has serial number 0001
So cool. Looking forward to hearing these tracks. She picked a Bad ass song! Cant wait to see what you guys did with it. Def right up KWS alley. (Not that anything isnt haha) I await its release, until then I sigh.
Cool! I'm totally immersed in Uni-Vibe lately. Trying out all different pedals. Nice to hear different originals and getting the backstory, as well. Nice work Uncle Larry
@@mattjoe1982 I love Josh Scott's vids and have a couple of cool pedals of his including Black Box. I am not always pro tap tempo. Things can be confusing when introducing it. I like tap tempo on my DD-8 but like to limit it to that
Thanks Kenny, Zack and Tom - All sound different. Even thru the phone tho that old one has a "thwwwap" sound when crossing over. So Cool - Thanks - I gotta tweek my Mobius digital representative of this sound - it doesn't even come close ha!
I thought that was Kenny! It's funny, the second he plugged in the oldest one, I thought - Yep that sounds WAY better... Then I thought - Do you just think that because they said it was old??? Then Kenny kept swapping around and it was a no-doubter... Luck of the draw I guess. Thanks again for sharing the nerdery that goes on behind the scenes.
bro!!!!!!! the search for the perfect univibe never ends. once you hear and feel that throbiness there aint no coming back. I've gone through some bad bad vintage ones (you know vintage doesn't always mean good). Sweets, Sabbadius, Kings, Sir Henry, etc.........finally found mine. For me it's the God Vibe
The God Vibe is absolutely incredible. I agree with you on that one. It’s probably the best vibe I’ve ever heard besides the originals. The originals seem to have this thing going on when you speed them up. I would hear Hendrix do it all the time. Step on that Uni-Vibe pedal and it would sound like going through a time warp.
Tom, in the manual for my Captain Coconut 2 (which has the best sounding Univibe clone I’ve personally heard), it says: CENTER - Controls the center of the sweep. You can dial in the exact amount of "off-center" wobble, which is something that makes this effect unique. On the original Uni-Vibe this parameter was available only as a trim pot located on the circuit board. This means that whatever setting it was left on would determine how the vibe sounded. Of course, this setting varied from unit to unit. One might sound bright, one might sound dark, and it was all due to that darned internal adjustment. Maybe your Univibe can be adjusted via the internal trimmer?
I dig vintage gear.... I'm not sure why my ear never took to the univibe ....trower and ya ..even jimi and jimmy I love those guys obviously but .. now if it was Dallas arbiter treble boosters ...I'd be drooling......so I'll just let yall enjoy your moment...cheers man
First gen Univibe is the one! Almost sounds like my DOD Envelope Filter 440. Those first gen pedals had to be tried because each one had a different sound, the components varied so much from unit to unit. I remember spending hours trying a whole batch of DOD and MXR pedals for the one with the perfect sound.
I got one of those from the 60’s. Seriously amazing pedal. I treat it like a valuable fragile antique. Got it from a guy who has a studio in his backyard. Would sell but only local - it’s too sweet to destroy by courier, lol.
Definitely ONLY for... Any Univibe pedal has its own personality. Like many Fuzz pedals. I still haven’t found the “one” (all mine have NOT been Vintage). Such a quirky effect?
Oh God Yess.... Ain't Nothin Like The Real Thing Babay.. The Late 60's into The Early 70's Units... There The F**king Holy Grail Man ☺☺😎💪💪👊💯💯💖 Thanks for This Amazing Upload My Good Brothas ☺☺😎💯💯 (And Yess Let's Go Back to The Good One.. Lol ☺☺😎)
..And The Pedal Speed Deal.. Different Potentiometer K Ohm Value... God.. I Would Love if You Could Share The Schematic on The (Good One..Lol) With Me... I'm Still Trying to Findout What The ECR's Were From The Mid/Late 60's Units to The Mid/Late 70's Units.. I Would Be So Greatly Appreciative My Good Brotha ☺☺😎💯💯💖
Mark Risch says "I worked for Robin as his tech in 2000 and 2001. He was a gentlemen and a phenomenal guitarist. Really cared about his tone. Bought him a '71 JMP 100 that ripped. 119 shows 10 feet away from him and i still couldn't figure out what he was doing..."
KWS was a key influence that got me hooked on guitar... many, many moons ago. Now you are showing me a new level musicianship that I didn’t think was possible on guitar. So cool to see you two in the same room. Thanks for sharing🙏
In terms of a career that requires a lot of crawling around on the floor, musicians probably rank second only to carpet installers. But this is way cooler than a retro rug.
My kind of party
Love your pedal demos Man.
I have owned 2 Univibes in the past & was fortunate to have Bob Sweet, RIP, to have him service & repair them.
Uncle Larry, KWS, 3 univibes and a vintage bassman = good times
“Let’s go back to the good one.”
Died laughing.
Omg I feel so privileged watching this. Coolest stuff I've seen in a while.

That old unit sounds perfect... the pinnacle...
Tom, thanks for taking the time to fill the description with such great detail! Super cool that you documented this rare moment! The variance from pedal to pedal is really eye opening.
Night and Day difference wow! Don't know how I missed this video, thank you.
Well it's f****** cool to have two of them in the same room.
Dustin Sears knows his Vibe!!!!!🙏🎸🙏🎸
I like how KWS sits on the floor and messes with stuff like I do. 😂
My band mates give me crap about it.
That's how you learn things about your pedal... You twist knobs!
I can feel the universal Univibe love in the air and am digging the vibe. Thanks as always.
Wow two of my favourite guitar players in one room, magic !!, the difference between those Univibes was incredible :)
Such a stunning difference ! I love those pedals can't afford an original one but my Deja vibe is doing a good job
My main stratocaster has the initials of my 10-12 favorite guitarists/guitar heroes carved into the body with a soldering iron.😅 These two are both on it. Two of the greatest on the same session 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Man... univibe heaven, that so awesome KW is a bad ass and so is our uncle Larry!
Kenny making a HomeSkoolin debut!!! Sweet!!!
As much of this as you can spare please. Very cool!
This is badass. Thanks Uncle Larry !
Very reconizable, sitting on the floor with friends lovingly talking about gear haha awesome, thanks.
Thanks for giving the mear mortals another insight. Jeezus this is great stuff, keep it coming pal. Respect and stay healthy all.
The eldest univibe has a real funky swamp sauce about it. love it
Definitely got to have the Tweed Bassman aimed right at you to get the Full Monty.
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah yeah yeah, but can you turn the bass UP plz? 🥰
This is like my class, we compare mics, preamps, etc. Good to see it never gets old!

Yep!
THIS is great stuff!
How fast did Uncle Larry open the Reverb app to look for an older model after this??
KWS knows his Uni-Vibes! I got mine for $150 in 1987 when no one cared about old pedals. Kenny is right...they are huge signal suckers. Mine doesn’t go anywhere near as fast as that one on the left, but I never use the fastest setting.

Kenny is a killer guitar slinger. Univibe heaven there, awesome. Thanks for sharing!
gnarly goodness! Love the oldie!
That old one on the left is magic.
Just uncle Larry and little Kenny Wayne playing wit their vibes...that’s a hell of a flex! Love it! 🤣
Two guitar heroes messing around with some premium vintage gear...who wants to watch that? Lol, thanks Tommy!
The oldest Univibe sounded like Jimi left some DNA in it !!
Indeed!!!! Best comment
Load bloooown! KWS is a total badass, Slow Ride was such a killer song of his with the vibe!
Uncle Larry this channel is pure fuckin' gold.
The oldest one has a "chewier" vibe. So killer!
That's full on wah wah, that song
yes im a gear head - YOUR BOY FROM CLE - love it!
Wow, how fun is that! Great sounds out of all of those really.
A ringside seat as a coupla masters talk Tools of the Trade. Yes, please.
Big difference in sound and wonderfulness. Man, all the gear I have parted with over the decades. I still have a couple of Dallas and Maestro Fuzztones. I have a rack mount Deja Vibe from the 90s serial number 0002, Michael Landau has serial number 0001

I own two vintage ones and many clones. Can‘t have enough of them 😅
Love gear and really miss my old big studio days. The older one kills!
So good! KWS & Tom messing with 3 vintage Univibes ! .. wonder what that song could be .. 🤔..😀
Crazy how different that low end comes across , wow!!!
KWS - one of my favorite artists! We’ve seen him live 4X!
What a duo...KWS and Uncle Larry...YES!
Cool! I'm totally immersed in Uni-Vibe lately. Trying out all different pedals.
Nice to hear different originals and getting the backstory, as well.
Nice work Uncle Larry
I ultimately chose the JHS Unicorn bc of the tap tempo.
Sounds great to.
@@mattjoe1982 I love Josh Scott's vids and have a couple of cool pedals of his including Black Box. I am not always pro tap tempo. Things can be confusing when introducing it. I like tap tempo on my DD-8 but like to limit it to that
So for all of us.
My thoughts exactly. 😂
Thanks Kenny, Zack and Tom - All sound different. Even thru the phone tho that old one has a "thwwwap" sound when crossing over. So Cool - Thanks - I gotta tweek my Mobius digital representative of this sound - it doesn't even come close ha!
Love this!
Whoaaaaaa 2 legends in the house! Love it

My mind has been Vibed. Thanks Guys...
I saw @kws s post on Instagram. Had no idea he was hanging with Uncle Larry. Very cool!
Paul Simon played through 8x10 Marshall Cabs? Never knew that.
Hahaaaaaaa
Gear geek out...love it. KWS said it, the internal component values can make a big difference in sound.
i want that 4 x 10 bassman. best amp ever made.

That second one had Juice !!!!!!!
Amazing UniVibe demo! The lush, swirling tones take me straight back to the '60s😎✌🏽. Do you find it more effective in a clean or overdriven setting?
That is awesome!
A great lesson in parts tolerances! Very cool!
Sweet! I was waiting for some Machine Gun, Band of Gypsys!
Thanks for the upload!
Two of my favs. Way to go Larry!
3 of those in one room - WOW

Man, wanna throw my Fulltone Deja Vibe in the lake after hearing that old unit!

Univibe lover here!
I hope that song is the one that I think it is, that's gonna be Awesome!
Greate vibes on that session. Field trip for the hostory class today.
That was amazing, but I suppose not that surprising for such old components and all the variances of the builds back then.

Hopefully you are referring to bridge of sighs and hopefully that's going to be on Ann's record.
Well, hell yes!

The Golden Fleece !!!! 🌊🌊🌊
Nice. Uni vibes and KWS!
Kenny is killer man
All I can do is Sigh at the thought of a great Bridge song!
The vibe. 👍
You know it's gonna be a good video when it starts with an Uncle Larry plumber crack shot!
always bringing the REAL my friend
Amazing.
I could do that shit the rest of my life, and never get bored.
Kenny with your signature strat
I felt an urge to connect the three in a cascade just because.

Its nice to know there are other people out there who are OCD about pedals and how they sound....I feel normal now.
