I live in the UK and go out at 4-5am on a Sunday morning in the summer, there are a few stretches of dual carriageway near me that you can do quick runs on.

@@armenantonian2370 No, it IS a GTI, FWD. The R32 and R are AWD Golfs. The VR6 may have been 6 cylinders, but in a small footprint engine layout, almost like a 4. It's a GTI alright.

That wasn't necessary with that Mercedes. There was traffic in front and he did speed up, so maybe he didn't expect you to be so fast which can happen. Not too much to blame. You could have at least flashed your lights or used your left blinker and give the man/woman a chance to do things the right way. Here you just overtook immediately even without the use of blinkers.

Flashing lights is WORSE here in Germany. The mercedes did see the GTI long time ago, he didnt move on purpose. But im wiht you, GTI did not right either.

@@PM-wt3ye it depends. Germans are quite ok with their flashing. Angry Slavs or Mediterraneans flash constantly without any reason. When the reasons are obvious it's quite effective when done in the right way. It alerts and can be noticed easily. I don't mind being honked or flashed at when not noticing something I should've.
@@AndrewSmith-sy7ws I suppose you wrote that to me? Driving is a serious business, especially when you want to do it fast. Then you have to be extra cautious. You can't be serious and alert enough when driving. Speed isn't the problem. Not using your lights and eyes in the right way is. To drive fast (180kph+)you have to show you are capable of doing everything you would have done at the speed of 100kph minding the speed difference in the process. If you can't then you shouldn't drive fast.
If that's crying for you, then you clearly don't have a driver's license or there is some other kind of problem with you and your driving.

259 kph = 161 mph, pretty darn fast. In North America, standard Golfs are electronically speed-limited to 200 kph (124 mph). Stock non-modified North American GTIs and Golf Rs are limited to 155 mph (249 kph).

@@Boysen2903 Dunno where you from, in Germany there is the rule, if nobody is overtaken, you have to choose the most right lane to give the lane free. In this case both drivers should been taken out but yeah, would the do same, overtaking on right.

It really is how incredible GTi cars have quickly become. I have the Golf Sportsvan 1.5 Turbo with 180 PS (tuned), automatic transmission and it is incredibly fast, at least for a family car ... ofcourse untill to 220 km..

Meine Erfahrung ist tatsache, dass es fast immer Sterne sind, die mit 180 die linke Spur blockieren. Sogar mal ein Rentner in seinem SL500, als ob er nicht schneller könnte. Man war das ne Schlange dahinter xD
@@MotoMario1 ich fahre aus Prinzip nie über 180, auch wenn ich links überhole. Und wenn auf der mittleren und Rechten Spur viele Autos sind fahre ich auch Mal mehrere Minuten lang mit "nur" 160-180. Wenn das andere stört ist das halt deren Pech. Gibt schließlich keine Mindestgeschwindigkeit auf der linken Spur... Und Zeitverlust gibt es dadurch auch kaum.
Es gibt mehrere Studien die belegen dass wenn durchsnittliche Langstrecken (also mit und ohne Geschwindigkeits Begrenzung, mit etwas Stau, Stadtverkehr, Landesstraßen und Bundesstraßen) mit 220-240 statt 160-180 gefahren werden, man im Endeffekt trotzdem nur wenige Sekunden bis wenige Minuten früher ankommt.
Selbst der, der auf ner 500 Kilometer Strecke auf der Autobahn nur 130 fuhr, kam lediglich eine halbe Stunde nach dem der 240 fuhr an. Hat dabei aber nur die Hälfte an Spritt verbraucht.

In Germany it's illegal to stay on the left lane. There isn't an official exact time how long you're allowed to stay on the left lane between two cars, but there have been court decisions saying 15 seconds are okay, everything above is not. So you're only allowed to drive on the left lafe if:
- you want to overtake
- it's free
That's why it's so safe to drive these speeds on german autobahn
@@technikhusky2054 i woulden´t go as far as calling them safe, i have had a few driving out in front when i came at high speed (sometimes people misjudge the speed or forget to look)
so the autobahn still have a risk..
but i doubt you have to drive slower then the car in the left lane in close trafic for example..
most countrys does allow passing on the inner side in some cases, or else the trafic would come to a standstill and people would have to change lanes all the time

If people don’t want to be undertaken they shouldn’t be in the wrong lane. Sometimes indicating serves no purpose especially if you are driving much faster than traffic.

Exactly the same top speed with my manual Octavia wagon RS230. Also the progression of speed increases and the shift point are similar. The golf is around 80kg lighter than mine Octavia so it's about the same thing of a passenger on board.
I would expect the Octavia to have a higher top speed with the sedan shape

Wenn es nur am überholen scheitern würde. Kaum auf der Landstraße filmt er seine erste deutliche Geschwindigkeitsübertretung, dann wird noch gedrängelt, rechts überholt und ausgebremst, weil das andere Fahrzeug auf auf die linke spur zieht. Ja es ist anstrengend, wenn Leute die linke Spur nicht freimachen aber ich find das Verhalten des Fahrers im Video deutlich schlimmer.
Man ist nicht alleine auf der Autobahn und sollte Rücksicht nehmen. Fahrer wie dieser hier haben mMn nichts im Straßenverkehr zu suchen.
Sage ich als jemand der auch gern mal 250 auf der Bahn fährt aber das kann man auch ohne ein Arsch zu sein und andere zu gefährden.

100-200 is very nice for stock GTI. My Octavia VRS mk2 has also 14secs but with Stage 2 upgrade) I have the similar video about top speed and could took 268km/h on my car)
its not correct because the time is by speedometer and the speedo is very imprecise. around 17 sec is real time.

How does your 2018 230 HP GTI go over 250 KM/H while my 2020 GTI PERFORMANCE 245 HP maxes at like 245 KM/H
They underreported the hp on the mk7 gtis. They say 230 at the crank but it’s more like 230 at the wheels. MK8 makes probably 10-15 more real hp on average, but there’s always a margin of error and also the gearing is likely different (much more important for top speed rather than hp)

E 60 Dein Diesel kommt lange nicht aus dem Quark die sind träge wie sonst was hatte doch selber einen 35d und der hat mich angekotzt da der nicht ging jeder scheiß GTI oder Passat Ultra mit 190 ps + ziehen dich unten rum weg dann habe ich meinen optimieren lassen und ja das war dann deutlich besser 60 ps+

E 60 dpf habe ich rausgeschnitten und auscodiert. Dann habe ich AGR auscodieren lassen und die Drallklappen entfernt bzw. Gegen Blindstopfen ausgetauscht

Car-vids-random there is an difference between an automatic which you drive in manual mode and a true manual... when you drive an automatic on manual it will upshift as soon as you hit the limiter. The manual on the other hand can’t shift up so it would hit the rev limiter and the car can’t do anything about it.

It really sounds like you have never driven on the German Autobahn. It's a motorway like everywhere else in the world with people doing their everyday commute and driving with a purpose - it's not just a racetrack for stupid people with powerful cars.
I'm not questioning that the Merc driver probably should have pulled over, but the driving by this guy here in the GTI is still a disgrace. Get on a racetrack if you want to drive like that, and otherwise drive like a sane person instead of this nonsense.
You got to teach those drivers a lesson. He wouldn't move for a long time even though the GTI would take 5-6 seconds to pass him and wouldn't even make him slow down. This is not a dangerous thing. It's just a thing to show him that he is an asshole and if he doesn't want to get passed on the right he should pay attention to the road.
I would say the dangerous thing here is the merc driver doing 200 and not paying attention at all...

But I drive it only one time to V-Max (261 km/h), and I don’t enjoy it. It’s to fast for me and to much work on German autobahn, where is always traffic.

4:40 Ciao Bremsen, wenn ihr alle wüsstet wie schnell selbst Hitzebeständige Metalle glühen und sich verformen, das macht er noch 3-4 mal und dann kommt er nicht mehr durch den TÜV
noch paar mal mehr und er segelt durch das nächste Auto ohne Bremsen
Kann man nicht pauschalisieren, kommt ja darauf an, wie die Bremse im Vergleich zum Gewicht dimensioniert ist. Ich bin mit meinem Bremsen oft schon deutlich flotter in die Abfahrt. Vibrationen im Lenkrad durch das Verformen der Bremsscheiben sind normal. Solange man danach nicht gleich an die Zapfsäule fährt, sondern die Bremse erstmal im Fahrbetrieb abkühlen lässt, passiert im Normalfall nichts. Wenn sie blau angelaufen ist wird sie eben gewechselt. Bei meinem A4 3.2 kosten Bremboscheiben in OEM Qualität vorne inkl. Belägen gerademal 220€. Und die haben das jetzt schon unzählige male mitgemacht.
jetzt mal im ernst das war absolut nix. Er hat nicht auf stillstand gebremst und somit kann die Bremse die Hitze sehr schnell abbauen, ungesund wird es nur wenn man von hoher Geschwindigkeit auf stillstand bremst und dann weiter fest auf der bremse bleibt.

Das gehört definitiv bestraft dieses Verhalten ist verkehrswidrig und gefährlich für andere. Er kann froh sein das der Mercedes ihn nach seinem kläglichen Überholvorgang auf der rechten Seite rein gelassen hat.

At this video your maximum speed was exactly at 259 km/h. Also, I want to say that the last left lane is only for overtaking and not for continuous driving on it.

There is no problem with that on the autobahn, as long as you won't stop people from overtaking others. You can drive on the left lane as long as you want.
