Yea these transmissions on the GMTK2XX platform aren’t known for reliability. At around 100k miles they fail. This suburban has just had a new transmission put in and is at 136k miles. To my knowledge the previous gen 6 speeds were better but I have heard of some faults
I know that everyone has different opinions, but I think the speedometer with the analog gauges is better. So I mean this with Fuel, Temperature and stuff! 😊☺️
Transmission issues?? The first to second seemed hesitant and a bit rough, sounds great though! I wonder if it’s ever had a transmission flush, newer vehicles seem to like more frequent fluid changes
@@charlesrodriguez7984Right, exactly. Might even be worse than the 4l60e from back in the day. Two of my trucks have over 200k miles with the original 4l60e transmission and still shifts smooth as butter. The main problem is the owners don’t treat them right and also don’t use tow/haul with heavier loads. I think with these newer transmissions it’s a factory defect. As you said, typical GM!!
GM’s transmissions are so iffy. Especially the 8 speed. This has quite the ratios too. First to second 40 mph second to third at 70 quite different compared to the earlier 6 speeds.
Very true. The GMT900 platform with 6 speeds that I know of reached about 60 mph just while shifting to 3rd gear. This 2017 however is different like you said, and it’s on its second transmission
i know this is old but think about its not bad for such a heavy vehicle my 2020 jeep compass does 0 to 60 in 12.81 seconds with my 2.4 tiger shark engine
It does okay 0-60 but the reason I put “bad” in the title was because the transmission was reluctant to shift and vibrated the vehicle really bad. Also that jeep compass must be pretty heavy! My equinox 2.4 does about a 10 second 0-60 but obviously not near as nice as your jeep. Thanks for commenting
@southwestohiodashcam6838 it's only 33 hundred pounds with the 4wd and the 9 speed auto so it'd not too bad and it's not my forever truck I'm just paying it off to build my car credit score
@@southwestohiodashcam6838honestly you’re better off buying a used Toyota sequoia or a used Lexus GX460/470 because those seem to have better transmissions and generally last longer than these newer Tahoes/suburbans/ Yukons/escalades. The newer ford Expedition would be ok too but idk if the EcoBoost is a good choice.
@@charlesrodriguez7984 I wanted to just take a ride in a newer gen suburban to see how it would feel. Reliability won me over and I kept looking for the older gen like I have been for years. But I’m satisfied now with my suburban I just hope I am lucky with the afm and transmission
Those shifts are pretty rough.

My friend has a 2016 Suburban LTZ and he had to get a new transmission put in it at around 194K miles.

Definitely

I am the same way. My 2012 equinox has a digital speedo and I never have it set to that. Instead, I use instantaneous fuel economy
Nice Suburban, and Nice Southwest Ohio update but where's the Equinox Update?
The suburban was nice but it ended up having too much wrong with it. As for southwest the equinox just needs too much work to be added yet
Still appears faster than my 2022 Ram 1500 with Hemi 5.7 L V8 and “eTorque”

Its not made for that in its defense , what could be bad about it
Pay attention to the 1-2 shift. The whole truck vibrates and rpm is indecisive.
All the new trucks tahoes and suburbans transmissions are so bad. Fluid will be black and burnt by 60-80k miles
