As someone who has been podcasting for 9+ years...everything that was said in this video is 100% true. My podcast was a moonlight hobby that I did after my day job which later created work opportunities as well as invitations to different events, etc.

    100% worth it.
You're totally right about connections. It's the personal 1-to-1 relationships at scale. Sure, some listeners have become customers of my products over the years. But more have simply recommended my products to many of their people, because they know and trust me. Or they invite me to speak at their conference. Or it's a lot easier for me to find and hire great talent. Or connect with amazing advisors who feel compelled to help me and offer advice because they're invested in what I share.
    Also it's super fun.

VERY worth it. BEYOND worth it. I've been a part of many podcasts. Each one changed my life in a different way. I met my former business partner and we started a podcast about personal finance when I was broke. I got to interview money experts and it made me much better with money. I also met my current best friend through that show. He was someone I interviewed. In fact, I met a lot of personal friends through that show after meeting up with them in real life. After that, I started a few more podcasts. Not only did I get to meet more people and make friends, but I also connected with my audience in a way that blogging, youtubing, and social media could never do.

Matt! I should also mention that my being on YOUR PODCAST unlocked a lot of growth for Transistor: some people were listening and became key partners for us!

Starting a podcast has been one of the most rewarding things I ever did. Not only is it literally paying my bills, it has introduced me to so many new friends -both as listeners and as guests- that changed teh way I viewed the world. Connecting with the right people has been such an enabling force in my life. It has led to so many opportunities, I highly recommend it. Even if it's slow -and it likely will be in the start- it's a massive investment into your future reach, impact, and legacy. Just like Justin said: there is serendipity in them there hills.

I often say that I would still podcast, even if no one was listening! Podcasting helped me gain confidence, learn from experts, follow my curiosity, explore my creativity, clarify my thinking, and learn more about myself.

On the technical side, it's also a great way to learn audio editing, video editing, visual tools, dabble in AI, and start to learn about UA-cam. Some may have no interest in doing these things long-term, but for those who do, starting a podcast for creative people is sort of the equivalent of making your first todo list app as a programmer.

Great video! It's wonderful to see how Product People lead to so many opportunities! Podcasting is absolutely worth it as long as you're podcasting about something you care about! You want to increase your luck surface area near the things you want to do and the people you want to meet.

Great video, Justin! Podcasting has certainly changed my life too. I wouldn't have met the people that I've met and I wouldn't have been able to leave my job to live the life I do now.

If you have a USB audio interface with multiple XLR inputs, you could use a couple of Samson Q2U mics (or, if you have more money, a couple of Shure MV7s)

I launched my podcast this year, and my only regret is not starting 6 months earlier. My podcast is hosted with Transistor. 🙂
