Awesome comparison. One thing I like about Schoeps mics is that they are all pretty much voiced the same. For instance, my Mini CMIT sounds a LOT like my much smaller CMC-1, the difference mainly being in room tone as it relates to pickup pattern...the two of them absolutely cut together seamlessly though. Makes life much easier when all your dialogue mics on set sound the same.
Yup. Between their mics they sound rather close. It depends on their setting (such as high pass) but on general they sound close. I like their mic for the neutral true to life sound. Great for certain recordings.
@@ZPProductions I’m going to purchase one of these - can you explain how this high pass filter gives the larger Cmit an advantage ? Thanks for the videos
@@kazlepek6552 the switchable high pass allows you to choose either times that you don’t need the lows (example voice recording or to remove handling sound) or when you need full spectrum (instruments, foley, effects)
great video. I will use a camera and a microphone to record small concerts at live house. Which of the two is better if I use it for loud outdoor events?
@@wolf_lin The filter setting is dependent are you using say a wind/blimp and if you need full frequency. if voice only or using in a blimp and shifting around then a high pass will be good.
Great video - thanks! You answered what I needed to know. I use a blimp outdoors and flipping the high presence switch on the CMIT 5 would be easier than fiddling with the sound recorder settings or adjusting it in post - saves time and effort.
@@ZPProductions Thank you for your answer. I ordered a mini-cimit from Pinknoise in the UK. After thinking a lot, I decided to choose mini. As a hobby, I ordered ms setup with mini simit and ccm8 to record ambiance, but I'm not sure if I did well.

Excellent test
I have the mini and I’ve used it for high quality scratch audio paired with my DPA 6060 lavs and tentacle track E’s
They sound identical to me ! thanks for the comparison
yup. unless you need to have the ability to switch off the high pass like for effects, the minicmit maybe enough if not better.

If you record any form of music, I think the standard Cmit5u is better. You get full range
@@ZPProductions Thanks for your reply.
If I use it at live house or outdoor environment, how should I set the filter better?

@@ZPProductions maybe i guess, great vid btw mate.
probably in the spider-man movie (Ned Leeds)
got it bro, you look a lot a like sean does magic from tiktok
Mini cimit less noise.
If you in the high pass can be quite similar
@@ZPProductions If only one microphone was allowed, which would you choose from cmit5u mini simit?
@@byungsin-a-haha if you are just capturing voice , minicmit. Cmit5 u is more versatile
