The France Vacation Model Railroad Layout in HO scale - A Masterpiece of Railway Modelling

- Some model railway layouts are so authentically built, so we believe that we are in a real world. The model railroad layout, which is called “Saint Tourbière”, is one of these miniature worlds. This masterpiece of model railroading was constructed by Wim Wijnhoud, a railway modeller from the Netherlands. During discovering this model landscape in HO scale, it feels like we are on holiday in France. This beautiful layout takes 10.5 meters in length and 2.5 meters in width.
The landscape is based on a single-track railway line through the Cévennes - a range of mountains in south-central France. The village of Saint Tourbière is a picturesque town, with an old church and with a nice market square. On the market square, there are some bars, restaurants and shops. Down in the valley, the railway station of Saint Tourbière is located. The station has two platforms, a freight yard and a small locomotive depot including a turntable. Model trains arriving and departing at the station, which is located between the mountains, have to cross bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Magnificent modelling on every level - rolling stock, scenery, everything ! And the musical interludes help to divert attention from the unnecessary visitor chatter ! A cab-ride might have been an exciting bonus, were it possible ... but, a great video nonetheless. Thank you, Pilentum.

A dutch making a modelling of Ardèche, this si quite normal. Half of the Netherlands is there and in the neighbour département of Drôme in summer.😁
Joke aside it is stunning, realistic, and very reminiscent of the 70's southern France landscape.
Dutch peoples have really many talented guys in modelling.

Wirklich ein schöner Arbeit. man spürt diese typische Süd Frankreich Atmosphäre Ich glaube dass du Pilentum sprichts auch französich, ich folge beim persönliche Geschichte nach.
L'Ardèche, que de souvenirs pour moi, je suis descendu souvent cette rivière en kayak. Mes parents m'ont même conçu lors de vacances en Ardèche.
J'ai appris la langue française à l'école. Nous pouvons également écrire en italien, espagnol, anglais, etc.
Mes félicitations, tu te débrouilles très bien.
Décor magnifique : pour peu, on se croirait en vacances ! Par contre, pourquoi les convois roulent-ils si lentement? Cela me rappelle un incident survenu en 1978, lorsque je rejoignais ma caserne en Allemagne : pour une raison inconnue, l'express Bruxelles - Cologne a été détourné après Liège via Maastricht et la traction électrique a été remplacée par une malheureuse loco diesel, qui peinait tant dans les côtes que certains voyageurs sautaient du train en marche, couraient à côté des wagons et réussissaient même à remonter dans le wagon précédent...

Cette scène représente une vie ardéchoise dans les années 70. Aujourd'hui, plus de train de marchandises ne passe sur ces voies uniques, les trains de voyageurs ne sont plus les mêmes, et il y en a beaucoup moins. En revanche, la limitation de vitesse est encore plus basse de nos jours, car les voies ne sont plus entretenues (rentabilité oblige). Ha, et puis une petite remarque, à l'approche des tunnels, le conducteur klaxonne pour prévenir d'éventuels cheminots de son arrivée. Idem en sortie de tunnel. Juste histoire de faire encore plus réaliste !

Oui, bien trop lent...
voir ma réponse à Robert Beadle. Il n'est pas rare que la vitesse maximum ne soit que de 30-50 km/h quand bien même il serait possible d'aller deux fois plus vite.
