Traded my HD road king for an MT10 and my insurance went down. 😂

About time! Genuinely one of the BEST all-around motorcycles ever made. I don’t think I’ll ever sell my SP.

I think so as well. I’ve ridden a street fighter V4 and while it’s clearly faster, it’s so expensive to purchase and maintain. I have a 2023 MT-10 SP full bolt ons, tune, upgraded the master cylinder, and a few other things and I loooove it.

You can display a variety of system information including the fuel gage on the MT09 SP. If it's not being displayed it's needs to be selected through the wheel options of the desired info indicator.

I had a 23 MT10 not the SP and I absolutely loved that bike! It was my dream bike and I would love to get another one again.

I rode these bike back to back at a demo day. Liked the MT10 so much more. Think it mostly came down to engine character. Can't seem to jive with triples, but the cross plane 4 moves my soul. Also, the MT09 seemed to need a little bar pressure to hold it down in a corner where the MT10 stayed on line like a sport bike, neutral. (Went in expecting to like the MT-09 more, that's why we test ride I guess.)

Brake lever free play might be by design if it's common across all Yamaha bikes

Yamaha specifically installs weak brake pads. Replacing the brake pads with better ones will solve the problem!

Why do they use weak brake pads?

I am happy you liked it, I got the 2024 SP version and practice U turns like you preach, it's a nimble bike and enough power to weight ratio. I believe the difficulty for tight turns in the beginning is the fear of dropping a brand new bike 😅. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and reviews. God bless 🙏

I've demoed one back when they were called the FZ-10. Any change to the rider triangle from the MT-10 to the SP version? Knowing you've ridden the BMW R1250RT, how much more crouched is the MT-10 SP? These are hard as hell to find where I am, so I haven't been able to even sit on one. This would be a fun bike to have as a 2nd (hooligan) bike for my stable!

I ride a '24 Road Glide and I'm looking at getting something more sporty as a supplemental bike... Something that compliments the Road Glide well. I've been riding for 25 years, and have had plenty of fast stuff. Although they are very different bikes, it's kind of between the MT-10 and the Hayabusa. Either would be new.

the mt09 gen 3 does have a fuel gauge, you just need to add it to the screen

You have reviewed so many great bikes.
But my opinion always changes whenever you brake test near your GS.

The M is 15000 more thats the thing with the SP you get a hell of bike for what I consider a budget and the SP has adjustable engine braking

Very nice review, thank you. I rode an MY 10 at a Yamaha riding event last year, it’s kinda like a gorilla that wants to tear your arms out of their sockets.

My 06 VTX 1300 doesn't have a fuel gauge. I've never even run out of fuel, just had to flip to reserve a few times. I'm never buying a bike without a fuel gauge again. Tracking miles on the odometer isn't reliable enough because it doesn't account for how I ride on a given day. Flipping to reserve is not fun, ESPECIALLY in busy traffic, and it would be way too easy to forget to flip back and run all the way out the next time. I don't need the extra anxiety.

Swap out the pads, get a midpipe, and 2wdw ECU flash and the bike will feel like an absolute dream.

Ha!!! Interesting, I finally prefer the MT 10s headlight arrangement to the MT 09 and MT 07 headlights. Also the break thing maybe it's a Yamaha principle.

Is the $10k price difference for the M1000R worth it? Yamaha and BMW are close in reliability too.. Considering an upgrade from my MT-07.

Yamaha puts poor stock brake pads on their bikes. Swap them out with some EBC HH pads, it will make a huge difference.

Hey is there any way I can get more information about your Sunday classes? Just got back from hanging out in a parking lot by myself. It was a good ride in the rain but it'd be great if I knew no one would be there. It's probably on your website but I haven't found it.

I hate when a bike has two headlights but only one is on if you're not using high beams, and when you flip it to high, the two lights don't look the same. Just make bikes that have two identical headlights that each have a high beam like a car! 🤦‍♂

I cannot figure which one is uglier. Yamaha design team took too much shrooms and decided to build an oversized praying mantis with an engine attached to it.

Never even considered that the brake line might need to be purged. Never even considered that you can put an aftermarket wind screen on it.
