dude, its closer than you think. Im so excited about this but... go up there, search for BeamNG, enter their youtube channel and vola... the greatest damage model in history! its still in development but once they finish it, in few years or less as it looks so good already..its gonna be so sweet to crash in games.
I can't believe this. EA really messed up. Instead of allowing the devs to take their time and create a masterpiece they rush this out the door? This had HUGE potential. This is the only attempt at creating a realistic racer with realistic crashing! I've wanted this for years. EA had this in the bag, all they had to do was let the devs make it good... damn you EA. Forza and GT are great because "it's done when it's done". This could have been a classic if allowed to develop properly.
I think what sets them apart is that the game isn't trying that hard to be an all-out sim racer, so you don't get so bothered by the unrealistic aspects... While with Shift 2, it feels like it tried, and failed MISERABLY. I really shouldn't be giving inanimate objects personalities... Should I be getting mental help? :P
Thank you, I'm glad you recognize there are good reasons to both use consoles and PCs for gaming. They're just different ways to meet the same need, and there are good reasons for both. Such is the way many other things in life are like, and that's the way it should be.
The crashes in this game are terrible. The games driving is good and the cars feel like they have realistic weight to them. But then when you crash it's like the cars turn into toy hot wheels cars and just become the lightest thing ever with terrible damage models and indestructible windows.
***** there's nothing to see lol, if you wanna be a youtuber, first release some videos and do not beg for views or subs, they'll come after they know you do good stuff. 1. good quality 2. good sound 3. custom thumbs 4. proper tagging and titles 5. proper description of video ..etc don't just post nonsense in people's comments saying "watch my videos" lol
you on utube apparently you haven't seen "real race crashes" they even more over the top and spectacular . shift 2 is pretty close too the real thing in crashes . "oh wait , you thought gt6, and forza has the most real crashes" lol
boogiedown 6 I gotta agree, the roll overs are quite real in this game, maybe little bit over reacted, but if in a real you go sideways into the heavy sand @ 300km/h, your car will flip like crazy. What i don't like, is the damage itself, cars should crush a bit more, i know race cars have heavy frames in cockpit, but still it's far from real damage.
I know they can be insane in real life. But these crashes look purely scripted to roll and makes it look completely unrealistic. If the cars weren't scripted to roll o every crash then yes it would look dam good.
So the Crash and physics engine with crashes looks absolutely unrealistic but its soo unbelievably hilarious to see them fly like like they would be some light plastic shit or sth
ive never played it before too, but in this it feels like the car is almost stuck to the ground if it rolls unrealisticly and also all the parts fly of like they where badly glued on or something
Either EA made the off-track surfaces WAY to grippy when sliding, or the cars too easy to tip in this game. Or both... Plus, look at the way the car INSTANTLY loses momentum in rollover accidents (which seem to be nearly the only type of wrecks that occur in Shift 2) - there's no sliding down the track & careening into walls & other cars, just instantaneous stops. Plus, the cars just seem to instantly get damaged when you flip; no crumpling/progressive damage at at all. I could rant all day...
SlightlyMadStudios(shift series developers) is working on a sim called projectC.A.R.S. using the SHIFT 2 engine. Looks fantastic though you might not like sim racers...you might want to check out GRID 2 arcade racer....no cockpit view though, i'd wait till GRID 3 or the next release to see if they remember how to make a great game codemasters is falling apart at the seams since DIRT 2.
There should be a danger rating for each crash from 1 to 10 based on how dangerous the crash looked. (I would appreciate it if the owner of this video did this in another crash video.)
you know, I realize that these are just Shift-created pixels on a computer screen, but for some reason it still makes me cringe when the Bugatti's, Lamborghini's and Porshe's crash.
do you get a smooth drive when you race? it feels like half the time, i flip because my springs are stiff as shit, or my tires have too much understeer.
See, this is an example of why most PC/console gamers don't get along. Instead of respecting I've got my own good reasons for my choices, you just call me a greedy idiot. Great way to win a convert, huh? Like I said, I've tried both PC and console. I liked the PC customization too (and I see why you like it), but the simplicity of consoles means more to me. What's better for each person is all about priorities and tastes. tartupets seems to realize this. I think you should too.
It used to be different... NFS started dying in 2005/2006 - try out the old NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 on either GameCube, original Xbox, or PC; that's still one of my favorite games out there. (For some reason the PS2 version has entirely different physics, and feels and acts completely different in nearly every way...)
If the rolls didn't look so scripted then it'd be a really good game. Part of the reason why I like NFS and Forza games more than Gran Turismo is because of the crashes. Shift 2 and GT are the two peaks of game crashes lol. In GT, it's really hard to do any realistic damage to your car. But in Shift 2, it's way too overdramatic to look good.
This game I pretty good. It sounds good and looks good. Love the cars and love the vid. The only down side I the rolling... Other than hat, nice vid nice game nice cars
I love this game too but they announched the game as a ''Real racing'' but it isn't in terms of ''only crashing'' NOT DRIVING!!!. combine with Dirt - Grid - Shift2 will be great & I pay more for this game. (this is my opinion) We hope Shift 3 comes soon...
The physics engine they use on the PC is downright disgusting. The cars look like their being held by string and being thrown around and held back at the same time when they crash, It's extremely unreal. It's weird though, because on the console, it doesn't look nearly as bad :L? And yeah, it isn't the computers fault, It's the games shitty engine.
I played a lot of racing games, from c-64 to actual modern pc simulations (but never shift 2). So from this vid I can notice a pair of things: 1) The violence of the crash probably is the most badass violence in pc racing sim; 2) the chance of bad crash during a race are really high, near the real life racing. 3) The physic is obscene.. cmon damn! with all that great badass crash effects and you go to use these ugly and irrealistic physic??? :(( 4) the static graphic is really good.
Well, the racing is supposed to be realistic. I love the idea of a realistic racer with realistic damage. I've wanted that for so long. But this damage doesn't seem realistic.. the wheels especially seem to come off the car way too easily. Come on EA, you have a potential megahit here.
2:05 what type of lamboghini is this? it looks like a lamborghini reventon, but i'm not shure. oh yea, you realy need to do more wreckes from the cockpit view or hood view
i guess the crash effects you are seeing is of low quality because the uploader has changed the graphics settings... otherwise shift2 is one of the most realistic race simulations i've ever played...(remember "one of the" not "the best" coz it depends)
It doesn't feel so great when you're playing... Everything loses momentum too fast, and there's too much resistance on most surfaces. Plus, cars roll FAR too easily.
@sethioz you sure you had visual damage on? theres option in the options to choose to take it off, cars still get damaged but visually they remain untouched.... i wasnt actually even talking about visual damage. Thats not the best possible in iracing but the damage engine is....it has nothing to do with visual damage, but car internal. They said if they are making a realistic visual damage to the game too...not sure tho. :P
Yes, GT5's AI isn't very good, but my issue is the way that EA displaces the performance of the AI cars. I wasn't comparing the games on JUST their AI. And Forza 4 allows you to roll while skidding; my friend did it on accident on the Indy Speedway in some NASCAR. By physics do you mean handling or crash physics? I think GRID has better crash physics BY FAR, so I'm assuming that you're talking about handling. To me it seems like one can always be served better with something other than Shift 2.
I like Shift 2 because of the crash physics and the overall depiction of the violence that takes place in motorsport
Fuck the physics, all i like is crashes and this is awesome
2:32 bro just has done 2 takedowns
1:06 the Lancia learned to two wheel in its rally days
6:26 - Maserati "No!!!!" Lamborghini "High five, bro."
0:59 now this will be the best part
1:50 look how the damage just randomly pops up
lol
Lowkey1JZ lol
Gorgeously assorted moments and that being matched dot in dot! I'm quite far from being a little babe, but I madly love watching it!
0:59
That was too awesome.
06:20 McLaren F1:DAMMIT! Pagani Huayra:HIGH-FIVE! Me:DAT PAGANI
Hahah
LUL
its amazing how everything flys off the cars but the windows stay put...
dude, its closer than you think. Im so excited about this but...
go up there, search for BeamNG, enter their youtube channel and vola... the greatest damage model in history! its still in development but once they finish it, in few years or less as it looks so good already..its gonna be so sweet to crash in games.
thank you very much!
i love how almost all the cars land on their wheels !
I love the damage in this game!
I can't believe this. EA really messed up. Instead of allowing the devs to take their time and create a masterpiece they rush this out the door? This had HUGE potential. well in real, cars CAN flip like that past 100km/h crashes, but yeah, in Shift 2 its over reacted.
***** there's nothing to see lol, if you wanna be a youtuber, first release some videos and do not beg for views or subs, they'll come after they know you do good stuff.

Woaahh... The crash physics are... "Overpowered"....
It was at this moment, when EA knew they fucked up.
When the cars roll , WEEEEEEEEE
YEEEESSSS! finaly someone who TALKS SOME SENSE!!!
Ohhhhhhh okay! I might have to watch that
1:51 ... realistic... 'car fine' - 0.05s later - 'car fully damaged'
R.i.p r32
1:51
GRID: Yeah I was talking about handling physics
So the Crash and physics engine with crashes looks absolutely unrealistic but its soo unbelievably hilarious to see them fly like like they would be some light plastic shit or sth
ive never played it before too, but in this it feels like the car is almost stuck to the ground if it rolls unrealisticly and also all the parts fly of like they where badly glued on or something
well at least this is better than those Need for Burnout games.
Either EA made the off-track surfaces WAY to grippy when sliding, or the cars too easy to tip in this game. Or both... 6:55 tho. That noise
In (possibly) NFS:S 3, they should probably use an engine made by Rigs of Rods (Like CryEngine 3) to make the crashes more spectacular!
did you catch that some cars had just a flat bottom and some had a detailed bottom
Bing! "You have reached your Destination!"
There should be a danger rating for each crash from 1 to 10 based on how dangerous the crash looked. (I would appreciate it if the owner of this video did this in another crash video.)
That guy completely dead 4:48
you know, I realize that these are just Shift-created pixels on a computer screen, but for some reason it still makes me cringe when the Bugatti's, Lamborghini's and Porshe's crash.
Wow! Really great physics!
I hope that the next need for speed will have first person driving like showing your hands on the wheel. now that would be awesome!!!
i wonder of what material are those windows made of?
0:06 such a good looking car...0:10 that car got FUCKED up
That's like having an FPS without guns, or a racing game without vehicles.
do you get a smooth drive when you race? it feels like half the time, i flip because my springs are stiff as shit, or my tires have too much understeer.
5:08 - GREAT crash physics, I'm def. buying this game. (lol) From what I've seen, it has too much gravity, cars are "cuffed" to the ground.
The NFS makers need to make some good realistic damage, just like on NFS Pro Street on the Xbox 360.
do they always do an over exaggerated rollover when they hit the dirt?
The cars just need to... you know, fly abit more?
See, this is an example of why most PC/console gamers don't get along. Instead of respecting I've got my own good reasons for my choices, you just call me a greedy idiot. Great way to win a convert, huh?

Oh how I love lightweight physics in this game.
PAUSE AT 6:28 AND SEE THE FIRE
1:52 Magneto shows his power!!!!
(last one) saved it like a boss
Wow physics went out the fucking window when they made this game XD
go watch real race crashes and then comment
Wow physics went out the fucking window when they made this world XD happy bitch?
2:22 listen to the rx8, im pretty sure cars dont sound like that
It used to be different... NFS started dying in 2005/2006 - try out the old NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 on either GameCube, original Xbox, or PC; that's still one of my favorite games out there. (For some reason the PS2 version has entirely different physics, and feels and acts completely different in nearly every way...)
now we need this in Gran Turismo 5!!
That was Epic
1:51 was like the car imploded.
It is called BUG, and it doesn't happen everytime. I have the game and it's awesome.
2:03 wtf. Still looks like a nice game tho. I am hesitating whether to buy it or not
As far as damage goes, shift 2 has nothing on grid.
wow, i've never flipped with my car.. feels almost impossible to do so
If the rolls didn't look so scripted then it'd be a really good game. Part of the reason why I like NFS and Forza games more than Gran Turismo is because of the crashes. Forza? Good Crashes? HA!
0:43 biggest crash in the video
for a game that the publisher declared as realistic, the crashes and the way the cars fly around looks quite embarrassing ... :D .. if you ask me
What engine is this game using?! It's fucking spectacular! Shits flying everywhere!
Man, Shift 2 physics are weird!
This game I pretty good. It sounds good and looks good. Love the cars and love the vid. The only down side I the rolling... Other than hat, nice vid nice game nice cars
Most of them r intentionaly made... but its nice.. still needed some explotions
1:49 Most Realistic Crash Lol :D
1:49*
sadly underated game
Poor wheels! Always getting torn away!
1:51
turned on right side, left side and all car damaged immediately
I love this game too but they announched the game as a ''Real racing'' but it isn't in terms of ''only crashing'' NOT DRIVING!!!. combine with Dirt - Grid - Shift2 will be great & I pay more for this game. (this is my opinion)
We hope Shift 3 comes soon...
the Aston Martin rollover reminds me of james bond
The crashes only look this shitty cuz its a pc ..looks way more real on xbox & ps3
The physics engine they use on the PC is downright disgusting. The cars look like their being held by string and being thrown around and held back at the same time when they crash, It's extremely unreal. 1:51 the car just gets damaged instantly wtf
You don't like destruction on collisions? :)
i guess the crash effects you are seeing is of low quality because the uploader has changed the graphics settings... otherwise shift2 is one of the most realistic race simulations i've ever played...(remember "one of the" not "the best" coz it depends)
good job ea what a realistic game too...
i frickin love this
what platform and what did you use to edit ?
in this game its like „ u lift off ground u dead“
1:52 It looks like the car exploded or something -_-
***** That was the latest reply I've ever seen. Like seriously 2 yrs later...
1:02 Looks like burnout
5:08 to 5:13 LMFAO XD love that one, crazy revving sound makes it even funnier..what a loony looking crash
It doesn't feel so great when you're playing... Everything loses momentum too fast, and there's too much resistance on most surfaces. Plus, cars roll FAR too easily.

@sethioz true true. i dnt like the lag either.
What the car with green hood on 1:38
whats wrong with you, it's Skyline .. everyone knows Skyline!
Skyline r32 gtr
2:31 - 2:36 killer corvette
No way of ranting negative debates over this point, it's just a matter of one's taste and mind set.
Yes, GT5's AI isn't very good, but my issue is the way that EA displaces the performance of the AI cars. I wasn't comparing the games on JUST their AI. there is a lot of carsex clips in this vid.
He wasn't talking about graphics, and as sethioz stated, it isn't an iPad game.
