You are getting more confident and natural in front of camera day by day. I have been watching your video since the beginning of your channel. Best of luck Angelo :)
Hi Ahammed! Thanks for your support and I hope you are learning along the way. Yes, I improved my on-camera abilities from when I first started and that comes with progress and growth. It also means stepping out of your comfort zone in order to evolve. Take care!
Hi @AngeloMontilla. Thank you for great contents. It is a pleasure to follow your tutorials. I have a problem here. I create a scroll frame with the tutorial of yours in this video. But when i publish it online in5 features don't work. It's seen like just a preview of the first page. I can't manage to solve this problem. Can you help me please?
Thank you for the tutorial. I was wondering if there is a way to design the scrollbar and add the scrolling mechanism to it? And also while scrolling the next state is visible without having to click on it?
Dude, I have to say: I never have ever comment in anyone video of youtube, but your videos are amazing! and so inspiration! Thank you so much to share your knowldgment wiht us. (PS: I'm brazilian and my english its a suck I hope you can understand hahaha)
Dear Sir, if I have some photographes with 300 dpi and color mode CMYK in my document do I have to convert them to RGB and 72 dpi for digital publishing?
This is exactly what I need one question if I export this to a normal pdf and upload it into a system where a teacher can review the pdf will he or she be able to scroll aswell? thankss
No, it won't work for PDF. I'd recommend publishing it online with the option to download a PDF (Print). This way, your prof can view the interactions in the web browser, but still download a copy (not interactive) for marking. Hope that helps.
Hey Angelo, Hope you're doing well and thanks for all of your videos teaching amazing things... I already learn a lot! Lately I was searching for a post were I can see how to pre set a document to print, for example a flyer or a catalogue... But all of them are vague and don't have all the principle ones I need to know. Could u make a video explaining how to configurate documents to print? Sorry for bothering you with that but it would help me a lot, I love how clear you are while explaining... I'm starting in this world of design, I'm graduated in journalism but we have to be versatile soo... Btw srry if my English is not the best, love from Portugal :)
Hi Bebiana! Thanks for the question - and you're not bothering me. Are you looking to make a document print-ready? This could mean many things - from ensuring images are saved at TIFF format and CMYK output to setting proper bleed, crop marks, etc. Feel free to email me (angelo.montilla@outlook.com) and I can help you further. BTW, I am a journalism grad too! Spent 11 years in print media and that's where my love for design began. Take care.
Hi Angelo, I am here again. You video is So helpful. I am think how possible to have this fillable interactive function. When user fill the correct word into the fillable space, if it is correct word, an image will pops up. Thank you.
Hello Angelo, thank you very much for your amazing tutorials. I hope you can help me with this, when I scroll, the objects appear perfectly in the preview page, but when I publish them the hidden object dont, do you know how to fix this problem?
That's correct. If you publish as an HTML5 document with a free account, you'll get watermarks. However, the scrolling frames will still work for EPub (Fixed Layout) or InDesign's Publish Online.
Hi Angelo! I love your tutorials, but I have a question about handling images. I wonder if you recommend a best practice to handle the images in Indesign. My demo will be 1920 x 1080, my idea is to handle like a web site, putting the images exactly at the size and compress in jpg to the maximum possible without image degradation, but I can see that IN5 is handling the images at the export. For this reason I'm asking you for some light in this issue. Thanks.
Hey Alejandro! Yes you can resize the images to the specs you need and place in the layout. Also when publishing online there's an option in the Advanced tab that allows you to set the JPG quality and Resolution. Set them both to the highest. Thanks!
I created a table in InDesign 2020 without using the In5 plugin you mentioned, and made it scrollable by pasting it into a rectangle and utilizing the Overlays tool that has a "Scrollable Frame" option. However, when I export it to an interactive pdf, there is no scrolling option within the pdf that is created. Thoughts? I am trying to create this scrollable content without the use of any external plugins.
It is easier to make 4 groups with each image and its corresponding text and use just 1 Object States, but using 2 Object States, 1 for images and 1 for texts shows us the power of ID interactivity.
I'm trying to use same method as yours but in EPUB I do not see anything. Is there any problems with "Universal Scrolling Frames" and InDesing 17.0 compatibility? I was also trying to make same stuff in last 16.0 version. Same effect. I do not see any scroll bars.
After I've installed in5 to Indesign 2023 cc I'm going to Scrolling frames, and I keep getting this message "the Scrolling Frames panel is a separate install." I try to click on "Get the Scrolling Frames Panel" but it doesn't go any where from there. Do you know why this is happening?
You have to sign up for the newsletter to get the extension. Do that here (ajarproductions.com/scroll/?ref=blog), and you will get it in your email. You have to drop this extension in the Scripts folder within the InDesign application folder. You will get instructions on how to do it. But if you need help, follow up here.
Have you ever tried using the scrolling frames as object states? For example, when you click on the button in the top menu a scrolling frame pops up as the object at the bottom that is also scrollable.
@@AngeloMontilla Unfortunately I have only just come across this notion of scrolling frames thanks to your video but as soon as I get a chance I will give it a go. I'll let you know how it goes.
I tried following the tutorial but the scrollable text is not working on my end! no matter which device I use to view my work, it simply doesn't scroll at all! What could I be doing wrong? :(
In the opening statement you said you were going to use "Universal Scrolling Frame" (free) and then you proceeded to use IN5 (30$/mth). Did i miss something?
Hey Will. Maybe try checking your Junk mail for the scrolling bar plug-in email from in5. Often times it goes there. Not sure why you wouldn't get the email otherwise.
There's a similar solution without an extension: ua-cam.com/video/2MN98vuRB4Q/v-deo.html Sure, I guess in5 let's you explore HTML but I have concerns about the cleanliness of the code it spits out to be of any practical use. I don't mean to sound unappreciative 🙏 Thank you for making this video! I wouldn't go as far as to say that the other one is better, but for my purposes it solves the problem just as well without additional complexity (extensions).
Thanks for sharing Devo! However, it looks like that video is from the days Adobe still had Digital Publishing Solution (DPS), which it officially stopped supporting in 2019 or so. Those tools (Folio Overlay, etc.) are no longer available in the current versions of InDesign. The In5 extension - to my knowledge - is the only way of adding scrolling frames to an InDesign project. Unless you're running an old version of Id. Take care!

Dear Sir, if I have some photographes with 300 dpi and color mode CMYK in my document do I have to convert them to RGB and 72 dpi for digital publishing?
Hi Meryem! No you do not. As long as the Indd doc is set for web intent, it'll convert the color modes for you.
