I'm here cuz JelloApocalypse publicly bitched about how he hated adapting this anime into English because of how "problematic" it is.
None of his work ended up in the dub so he just looks like an idiot lol.

For what it's worth, the guy was just making stuff up and none of his "changes" even made it into the final product, so rest assured, the whole thing isn't as bad as he or other people are making it out to be.

I just watched this anime for the first time this week and kinda thought the dub had a lot of modern slang in it but didnt really think anything of it only to find out this anime just got dubbed super recently. Kinda crazy an almost 20 year old anime thats not super popular just now got a dub.

To reassure everyone the dub is being faithful I’ve compared this scene with the subs and it’s been spot on, though I feel amber lee connors could be a bit more animated but that’s my opinion, honestly after watching the clip so many times I got used to it.

@nicodemusmaxwell1624 yeah buuuuuuut the down side is that the dub is very subpar. It's because it was made on a low budget. Bur besides that the voices of amber lee conners and Howard wang don't sound all that great to me.
Buuuuuut good news the subs are a OK so yeah. You have to buy the blu ray so I'd search the internet for the english dub to decide if you actually like it enough to buy it.
My opinion the English dub reminds me of a fan dub put out by an official company, but that's just me.

@nicodemusmaxwell1624 it is, contrary to what certain people have said or what blaber has said this is a regular dub just that it's english script is sub par and so is the voice acting.
I have the dub but still it's all my own opinion.

U dont know how long ive waited for this. I dont care for subs. I watched this many years ago. Never thought it ever get a dub

One of the people who worked on the dub script posted about how they hate this anime, about how they hate Risa, and even bragged about how they made the story better because they are the only one in the world that knows how to write actually good romance.
Not even kidding. It's so depressing to have waited all this time, and this is the result.
Gonna give the dub a shot, since the guy I'm talking about wasn't the only person who worked on it, so it might be good in spite of his presence, but I'm not super hopeful. 😮💨

Watched the sub a while ago and enjoyed it, despite liking dubs okay. That was three years ago, having found out it aired in 2007, I actually thought it'd never get a dub nevermind get one that indirectly led to some e-celeb nuking his career.

I don't get what everyone online is talking about. Apparently someone 'butchered' the dub, but it seems fine to me. Also there were mentions of the original script being problematic. I watched this as a teenager like 14-15 years ago, so I don't really remember too much of it, but I don't remember anything problematic. Can anyone give me specifics, please?
The guy that was doing the English dub for this show, JelloApocalypse, went on a tirade about how the original show’s script sucked and how much better his version was. I haven’t seen the dub or the original so I can’t speak for the quality, but his attitude was incredibly unprofessional and arrogant.
It doesn’t seem terrible but id definitely prefer the Japanese version over this,
maybe I’ll watch both to see if i can notice some changes,
but people don’t mind if you change the script to make it sound more natural in English people only have a problem when you hate the show and change it for some political bias
I think maybe its about that trans girl who had a crush on otoni but even then the show made a point of treating her with respect and just showed what could happen if you have a crush on someone who isnt used to trans people being a thing but who isn't a bad person?
I think the dude was just trying to find something to justify his hate becuase his tirade went against risa and rise is clearly a wonderful character. though apparently its been confirmed that the 'changes' he's so proud of didn't actually stick and got taken out of the script so maybe he's actually but hurt they didn't like his changes?
The dub seems fine but I thnk the issue is the dude who worked on it looked down on the show and trashed it/clearly hated it and acted like he 'fixed it'.
he gave off the energy of the guy who hated superman who worked on teh man of steel

So, it’s a shojo anime so it might remind you of other shojo romantic comedies (like Kimi No Todoke, and His and Her Circumstances.) Also, it was animated by Studio Toei so it might have reminded you of other Toei anime, like Sailor Moon and Ojamajo Doremi.
Does anyone figure out the ancestry of the English voices of the six main characters of this anime show?

You never know this and Kimi ni Todoke getting dubs after so long makes it feel hopeful for any other anime. Especially since there really wasn't any high demand for this one.

I loved the dub! I thought for the most part it was awesome! Just a couple moments I thought were a bit cringy with too much modern slang but overall def glad it exists! Good job

personally the dub still sounds kinda meh to me compared to how i remember the sub, but that was a while back.
