It’s 2023 now,..but I remember on SiriusXM Tom Petty Radio many people were calling in and leaving voicemail, tributes to Tom and what he meant to them. And there were countless people calling in to say that when their daughter got married, that they played wildflowers as the bride was coming down the aisle. The song ment alot to them. I grew up in the time that Hanson was the child bubble gum band of the moment. I picked on them just like every other 14 year old boy did. THIS just made me respect them SO VERY MUCH. Perfect rendition and beautiful words spoken. Rest in Peace Tom Petty.
It always makes me so happy reading comments like this :) Hanson did very much get lumped in with the "teenybopper gimmick" music acts of the late '90s because they were young kids with long blond hair, high voices, and a hit song with a funny name, but the truth is they've been the real deal from the beginning! It's not surprising that they've got loads of genuine talent and soul when you know that they've been working hard at honing their craft as musicians and singers since they were all between 6 and 11 years old :) And not only that, but they've always had such guts and integrity as a band as well: when the mainstream label they were on went to crap back in 2003 or so, they decided to go independent rather than selling out just to stay on the label- and that was before they days of youtube and other platforms that give indie bands a lot more chance for exposure! They just knew that they were in it for the music and not for the fame, and along with having always adored their music, I've always respected them so much for that. And yeah, Taylor has a knack for making beautiful speeches as well! RIP Tom.
