"They're not interesting characters" Well, Vocaloids were never given any 'official' personalities so that composers and music writers or whatever would have more freedom to do anything they wanted when writing songs for Vocaloids without caring if it would be 'Off-character'... So when they have to write dialogue for characters with no personality, well, you can see where I'm going with this...
Being a veteran vocaloid fan the fact that they tried to apply personalities to the vocaloids really upsets me. I believe that fans should be able to apply personalities freely, because different artists write them in songs differently. Ex. Miku can be monotone in one song and sweet and happy in the next.
Thanks everyone for watching and commenting! As some people have mentioned, and I also eventually discovered, you can win costumes in hard/extreme mode but only after completing easy or normal mode at least once for all the original songs first. Hope this tip is helpful for you all :)
+NihongoGamer I was iffy about the game because of that but now that you mention that once you beat the game you can pay hard/extreme... I am convinced! Thanks, Ive found your videos often at random but somehow I never thought to subscribe until now haha. Good job!
+TheJapanCode have you beaten the final medley by cosmo@暴走P aka HIBACHI of the game? I pass the normal gameplay but I can't get the sparkling clear in triple trouble (Of course I am talking about EXTREME level only)
+KnucklestheEcidna Yes, but it has always been a side feature. Now it's forced on the users, many of whom may never have been interested in it in the first place. =w=
Actually if you play further in to the story you can play hard and extreme to get costume. The event quest will start to throw hard and extreme at you when you progress the story.
The one single feature I want is for the audio to change when you pick a different vocaloid. Like if I picked Meiko for a Miku song it would be Meiko singing but I know that would be a lot of work to do all he different combinations and everything. But I can dream.
Wow. I was honestly just looking for opinions on this game since I've never gotten into the series yet but pleasantly found your video! I really love this casual style review. Feels like I'm just talking with a friend about a game almost. Checking out the rest of your videos for sure! Great Job with the Review!
That's just strange. It's strange that the Project Diva now has a story. I'm used to the game being that kind of arcade-ish DDR like game where you just play the songs and just that. Also, I don't like the fact that now they have this sort of human like personalities. It just turned me down for that point because I imagine the Vocaloid characters to be imaginative. It's like you can imagine them in different perspectives, especially in their music, these characters are not real, so like in their musics over the years, they are portrayed to any sort of who you want them to be like how you imagine yourself being some sort of character, let's say, a king, police, artist, etc.... The Vocaloids had unlimited and unknown personalities that people can just think of. But this game gave them fixed personalities that just felt wrong. Especially when their changing costumes, their just acting. Not like how before, when their in their costumes, their a different character, not themselves.
I'll just repeat a comment I made on another video about the changes in Project Diva (WARNING HUGE AMOUNTS OF TEXT AHEAD!) Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!! Finally, someone who agrees with me! You have no idea how happy this review made me as a long term Project Diva fan! I thought myself and a few others were the only people who saw problems with this game. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this! First...1:57 is priceless XD. your descriptions say it all. Second, I completely agree with everything you said about this game. I feel that this game was in such a rush to be made and it really hurt it badly. I'm not sure if they had a new game director that told them they had to do this game this way, but it really hurts as a long term fan. I have a main issue with the game, but I feel it also has way to many other issues: 1: The gameplay is kind of bad. I don't want to say it that way, but it just is. They added so much unnecessary stuff and took out the GOOD things. Not having a store option, having to grind for items/costumes(which are a pain to do since you have to be essentially lucky) and worse of all, adding a story mode, really hurt this game. I'll repeat this t'ill the day I die, but Hatsune Miku Project Diva will not, never, and did not need a STORY MODE. On a general level, the story mode is unnecessary and not cute/charming. It's just boring. I guess the developers didn't want to upset fans by having the Vocs have personalities that conflicted with their own headcanons, but it's just not endearing. The one reason why I fell in love with this franchise was because I could play it without the language barrier being a problem. But now, any new fans who want to buy the game in Japanese( who aren't Japanese and before the English release ) are gonna be hella confused. This ticks me off so much as a long term fan of Vocaloid because the whole point of Vocaloid was to be synonymous with the creator's wishes. So Miku or the other Vocaloids( can't forget to leave them out unlike this game) could be whatever YOU interpreted it to be. According to some theories by other players, a story mode was possibly added to be more in key with a mainstream audience since Miku is getting more attention outside of Japan. But even fans here and in other countries know what Vocaloid is about so it makes no sense to do that to gain a new audience. All this mode does is really feel like a kick to the fans face and it really pisses me off. Also, they added a rush button to game, in some songs it's fine but in others ( like the Ultimate Medley) it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to do the Rush Button(just look up other players trying to do it, you'll see what I mean). May I ask what was wrong with the big stars? They were perfectly fine. Obviously the developers of this game didn't hear the phrase, "If it don't broke, don't fix it". 2: The Vocaloids are treated with such disrespect in this game. If you love Miku( like me) you'll love the game's song options for her. What, you say, " I don't like Miku all the time and prefer Len/Rin Kagamine, Kaito, Meiko, Luka Megurine etc...?" Congratulations, this game completely screws you non- Miku fans over! Hooray( sarcastically). Literally, there are only 30 songs in this game and they include medley's involving Miku as the main star only. That is UNACCEPTABLE. I understand it was always HER game. But Project Diva 2nd had several songs separately for the Kagamines, Luka, Kaito and Meiko. Was it really that hard to, in 2016, give them some spotlight? Many people thought that the last game screwed over non-Miku fans but this takes the cake. Literally, the ONLY song Kaito has FOR HIMSELF is Coward Squadron Urodantor which not only does he share with MEIKO, but with Miku as well. WHAT KIND OF BULLS*** IS THIS?!! Don't tell me they didn't have time to add more songs, they could've taken out the story mode and replace it with more songs, but no, Kaito gets one( albeit awesome song) while Miku gets almost 20 to herself. How is a 1 to 20 ratio fair? Maybe 3 or 4 considering it's her game, but not 1 measly song. Even the Kagamines get the short end of the stick as in their own medley, Miku comes in and takes the lead singer HALFWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. It's like the game wants you to know that Miku is the only one you should care about. And even then, Miku gets the short end of the stick too. Now from what fans speculated, the general time cut for Miku songs are around 3:50 so our fingers don't fall off, but they cut songs so awkwardly such as Mrs. Pumpkin's Comical Dream and Babylon that it just sounds really off. And trust me, i'm not the only one whose noticed. It also doesn't make sense how the medley's can be over 4 minutes long(I get they want the best parts for the medleys but really? They had to make them so long?) but a song like the aforementioned Mrs. Pumpkin's Comical Dream, gets cut so badly. Once again, how is that fair? Oh wait. it isn't. 3. The song list is also...lame. As you said nothing stands out. The only songs I like is a couple out of what is given to me and....they really don't fit the rhythm game well. They're high quality. No one can deny that, but they don't work well as in terms of variety. However, that's not the game developers fault, the artists are the ones that cut their own songs anyways. The PVs though... they just suck. Before anyone attacks me, I don't hate the dance PVs as many other people do, but they are so pointless. I get they wanted a concert feel, but it doesn't feel like a concert. It feels like someone FORCED ME to go to one. NOT. EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. NEEDED. A. DANCE. PV. Story PV's made the game feel interesting, fresh, and separated Project Diva from other Rhythm games, but any potential for interesting PV's such as Lost One's Weeping and Love Trial was replaced with a disappointing dance PV. The Choreography is excellent. Don't get me wrong but after one dance PV you've pretty much seen it all. It's such a waste and I hope in the next game( if they're lucky enough to have one) they'll realize their mistake and bring them back. 4. And now, some nitpicks... - I hate how the songs are interrupted by getting a module. Was it really that bad to wait until the end of the song? -That Rush Note is kind of pointless and annoying at some times( cough* Ultimate Medley cough*) -Some of the costumes are meh. I like Babylon and Lover Trial's outfits, but Brain Revolution girl and Satisfactions outfits are pretty bad. They don't fit their assigned song and for a second time ever in a project diva game I changed their default outfits. -Apparently there are technical issues. I haven't tried this, but someone in their review tried to try using a different app with the Vita and it had to shut down the game to do so. I don't know why they had to do this when you can not do this for literally ANY OTHER GAME VITA GAME, but I'm too afraid of messing something up to try it out. My main point, this game was advertised as the 10 year installment of the game. Shouldn't it be a decent homage to the others games, as well as including new features as it wished? All this feels like is that the developers got lazy and felt they could put a lazy game out without noticing, but thankfully people did. Compared to the 100,000K sales of the first ever game had only 69K units of this game were sold. That's pretty low from what been told to me. Overall( Sorry for the gratuitous amounts of text, but I'm glad someone agrees with me about this game. I don't want to sound like an elitist S**head who hates change, but this game's formula was fine to begin with.) I don't want to not like this game as much as I've complained, but it's so mediocre I just can't recommend it to anyone. It's such a shame this game turned out to be a dud, I hope the next one( if they have one) is so much better.
I'm not familiar with your channel, so when I saw While Making Coffee I just brushed it off, and then I see you grinding coffee and in my head I was like "The f***? Is he really making coffee? 😂" An interesting thing to do haha, well pretty nice video!
I also noticed something; I was watching hisokee (youtuber plays Project Diva X; a skilled player) live stream of Project Diva X, I noticed that the costume also has a leveling system. The modules level up by voltage. The more you used it the higher the voltage they produce; The higher the level of module (Accessories included for more voltage) is the higher chances of getting a rare module; The rare module can either be the module of the song or a rare module of previous series. I just observe during his live stream. Also, you may probably get it ,since America will release the Project Diva X english vers. for Vita and Ps4 by fall. I also agree on the graphics; As much as I want realistic like appeal but it also has limits; I found the graphics on the Vita much better in future tone. Sometimes the future tone adds too much brightness; I can't see Miku's face. Hope this helps. :D
Hey Mr.Nihongo! Just wanted to say I'm loving this new review format, laid back gaming discussion with freshly ground coffee beans= perfect! (will have to pick up a thermometer and vacuum cup myself now!)
This is the first video of yours I've seen, you just got a new subscriber! I love the style of videos you do, they are funny yet informative. Not many people who talk about Project Diva on youtube do so in a semi-comedic fashion.
I saw more comments about the game and not the coffee and now I feel like I was the only one who was more interested in the coffee but I watched the video twice to know about the game too xD
Just discovered your channel, your videos are great. I bought this game on release day and while some of the changes are interesting, it feels like a money grab sometimes with paid unlocks and the whole random aspect to modules/accessories. I also didn't like that they removed the story/song based PVs that were present in previous games, it was rather disappointing. What bothered me the most was the fact that the other singers got snubbed, I mean I know the game is named after Miku but previous entries had at least 3-4 of the other singers songs and in F 2nd they added more through DLC. PDX is sorely lacking in extra songs through DLC and the two that are available are again, only Miku songs, its like the very first game all over again which only featured Miku, that is until the extra character DLC was released. There is only one, or two at best, songs for the other characters and some of them only get a duo or trio song like KAITO. This makes for some very weird and sometimes irritating instances, one example was I had an event where I could only use MEIKO but it forced me to play on one cloud that didn't even have the one MEIKO song, so it was rather weird hearing Miku singing but seeing MEIKO. Lastly, the lack of the other character song means you either have to play that same song to get their modules or have them play a Miku song which is just bizarre in my opinion. I still like the game but I'm really wishing SEGA hadn't messed with the formula so much, but at least the difficulty is easier than F 2nd which was freaking hard even on normal at times. LOL sorry for the long post, been wanting to vent about this game for months. :P
LOL yeah, I recently learned of that too, I'm very excited for it. I do agree with you on the designs though, the arcade version characters designs just aren't as good as the consoles ones for various reasons. :D
Crypton allways have been a little... "corny" is the word? about everything they make... one of those thing is vocaloid's personalities. We all love vocaloid for the variety of authors on the songs, that make them bright... Even at using the voicebank (I don't know why Crypton loves to use awful tunings, It's like they like to listen nails scratching blackboards, when other authors can make Miku sounds amazingly real). Also they love to make their male vocaloids all gayish xD It's so sad 'cause Kaito and Len dance all girly too (even more on the concerts). I love to see Kaito all girly, but not in all songs! Crypton should hire people specialized in those details... It's not like they don't have the money to do it (oh but they are big avaricious bastards haha!) Also it make me laugh a little you mention Raspberry Monster as your favorite song, I don't like it at all and think it get to be popular due the author decease. But, well, everybody has his likes I think haha What songs you didn't like? I'm courious!
Actually Raspberry*Monster is quite good imo. Well, i'm used to hate Raspberry*Monster but i keep listening to it. The one i don't like in this title is brain revolution girl.
Maybe that's what I need to do: Give it a second chance and listen it a few more times. Really you don't like it? I love the author! And of course that song. It's so funny how likes change so much in each person
You can actually play Hard and Extreme in Live Quest Mode! (the mode where you can unlock modules/costumes) I think you'll unlocked it after you finished all areas, or if you want to get modules and accessories easier you can pay for module keys from the PS Store (they have the one for all modules from every elements and you can also just buy one module key for a certain element, for example a key for the cute element modules will give you all the cute element's modules)
Another great view, I enjoy these more casual reviews! Question for ya NihongoGamer: Would you recommend this game for a newcomer to the series? If not which Project Diva/Miku game is the best in your opinion?
+Memo I have a Vita and 3ds. Mirai sounds like fun! Although I don't know about the Chibi artstyle... Oh yeah is there a song list for Mirai? And thanks for the help^^
A few comments about the review (it's nothing negative, but just trying to help): 1) I think the uninteresting personalities are trying to be as generic as possible so there is no canon personality (because they are ideally however you want them to be). This is further introduced when the personality changes depending what element module the character is wearing so they don't have a defining character trait. A beauty module will have them act stuck up while a chaos module have them act like a little kid. 2) The difference between a normal drop and a rare drop (besides how often you get it) is how good the skill attributes the module is. A normal module might have a skill that says it's a Rare Module Up Lv 1 where a module has a slightly higher chance of getting a rare module but normal modules will still drop more often. A rare module might have a higher skill then it's normal variant, in this case, Rare Module Up Lv 4 where rare modules are almost guaranteed to drop. More in reply
3) Hard and Extreme mode in Area Quest and Event Quests are unlocked after you've finished a certain part of the story. I think it's after you've unlocked all the songs and medleys (except the Ultimate Medley) they'll ask you to do another Special Live. Once you finished, she will say something that she's having fun but something is missing. You will then unlock Hard and Extreme mode for all the areas. You will also have to complete each area 7 times to truly complete the game. (In actuality, you just need to clear all the areas a second time and it will unlock the Ultimate Medley in Event Quest.) Anyways, the game seems fun. A bit different from the usual. However, tons more grindy. It seems English localization seems to be a bit more necessary. Saw a few twitch streamers stumbling around asking what to do because they couldn't unlock the 4th area, not knowing the game told them to do an Special Live Event. Other than that, just figuring out what gifts they're asking for I suppose.
When u completed all the areas, you get to play it in hard and extreme mode. I prefer the previous system because i get to unlock the costumes whenever i feel like it. Now i have to force myself to use other vocaloids if i want to unlock their costumes, which is not something i like
Once you play every song once, there will be a special live unlocked... Play it then everysingle song in the story mode will be unlocked in extreme, and there is also extra and extra extra extreme which add challenge item's for it!
I'm upset to find out that the edit mode is gone and replaced with the camera live editing mode thing... It really cuts the game's worth short. Now the songs are so much more limited.
i think some song in this title have wrong area xD like streaming heart should be in cool area, and raspberry*monster should be in chaos area i mean.. look at that streaming heart module, that song, that background :< it's cool
well after u clear all the area once u will have the chance to play those area with different quest like extreme mode or small target or double speed or target disappear half way
This is a pretty original way of making a review! I'll copy it and bring my reviews this way and I'll provide a link to your channel each video I make with a big ass link to it! do you agree?!
I'm not okay with the Edit mode ...though I mean live edit I hope they will update it with the piapro support. And the game was okay but I felt the same way as you.
Thank you, Jesus! They gave me the joystick! Not that it's typically a bother doing my screen, but songs like Electric Angel, having to do the doubles with both fingers, my touchscreen can just be a pain in the ass sometimes. Real nice to have that as an option now. So, when is the U.S. getting an import now?
You've always been able to you joystick on vita. You just had to switch to it on option. Also it's gonna be a while, coming in August 30th due to having to translate the quest story mode thingy.
You know, I was thinking I should have been able to as well, but I've looked. I've never seen that option. I'm gonna have to look again. Anyways, though, yeah, a bit of a wait, but I'm patient. I look forward to it.
DracoBane Gaming Damn, you're right. I didn't recall. It seems to me I tried on one and wasn't able to. Perhaps, F, but F 2nd does. Funny, cause the first one ain't overly bad, but there's some, particularly on Extreme that are just damn near impossible to do with the fingers alone. Already if feels slightly awkward, but I can already tell I will pass a lot more with a Perfect now that I've been struggling with. Thanks for causing me to double check myself.
There is just one thing, that imo SEGA has not think about: What happens if you already got 100% Modules, Accessoires & Room Items? Problem: Trophies. What's required? Maximum Happiness (? no idea how to call that tbf) Level for each characters. Means u still have to grind Quest mode. Bigger problem? 100% Clear and Clear+ before even reaching at least one Character to MAX Level. While the Quest Mode uses Voltages, it does not even matter how good you play: it will result in Clear or Not Clear, while the Free Play uses Highscore to save your best result. At least, they could have allowed to interact with present as well for the Free Play mode, so you can enjoy the Free Play mode as well...
I dont like how they did the rest of the vocas dirty. I only really like 2 songs: brain revolution girl and the ending medley. I don't think the game should have been like 30 dollars. I think it should have been half that. It feels incomplete.
I wanted this game, ever since I heard it get announced. I'm very disappointed with the song list, though. I don't think I'll be getting this one, sadly. I wish they would, at least, make a spinoff game, focused on some other characters, for once. OR... Here's a shocking suggestion... Give them more songs in the current game! I mean, Meiko and Kaito don't even have solo songs, anymore!
+CryBaby Porcelain Raspberry Monster has a very detailed stage but throughout the entire song the location does not change. It's just a very cool looking set :)
To be honest, after watching a bunch of videos, the concert setting has really grown on me. I'll miss the PVs, but the concert thing is cool. We'll always have the previous PVs, anyway! Also, just btw, why did it take me so long to find you omg, you're awesome!
Ok, some years late but, I don't know about the vita version, but in the ps4 version they let you play in hard or extreme in the "story" after you bet all the medleys in easy or normal. All except one.
Have you got all sparkling clear in area quest? I have so much trouble on the triple trouble quests, I need to do some of them using normal break in order to pass them.
I still have no clue what the deal was with Miku and Kaito in the Cute Area story. I saw Kaito (and I fangirled as usual) but I didn't really understand what the deal was. Len and Rin's problem was obvious: they were in an arguement. Luka, Meiko and Miku where talking about beauty. I still don't know what the deal was with that! ;-; Guess I'll find out when the ENG version releases!
+Kaitlyn Stahl haha yes they have some strange conversations sometimes. The Kaito story part is about Kaito having trouble with being the right amount of "cute". I think they resolve it by discussing the idea of smiling being the quintessential element of a good idol. Something like that :)
you raised alot of good point in your video. now I really don't know... oh who am I kidding I'm gonna buy it anyway lol but seriously no major reward for completing songs on hard or extreme?? and it really is disappointing to know you're gonna have to play all the songs on stages. the songs in the previous games that are performed on stage bore me tbh and it's a wasted opportunity for sick ass/hypeass/tear jerker MV.
+ODdm3 I discovered after making this video that you can win costumes in hard and extreme mode but you just have to complete all the songs in easy mode first :) The omission of the more complex music videos is a shame though yes
The game just honestly could have been better in my opinion. The songs were great, but im sad that they took the videos away and just turned them into concerts. And there should have been a lot more songs. It has room for improvement.
Man, if this is more story mode then its going to have more context and options to select......Would this be better off if I got the localized version instead?
#NihongoGamer So this is a non related question to the video but by any change do u know some website where u can learn japanese from scratch? Regardless of it's free or paid as long as it works. Beforehand, thanks.
I don't speak Japanese so is it worth buying now or should I just wait for the PS4 Western release? Its a shame it isnt as arcadey but I suppose it makes sense since its coming to PS4
Just wondering, about unlocking the costumes, is the costume being unlocked related to the song you played or can you play the same song and it will unlock different costume?
I've been a fan of the PD games since the PSP. But somehow I've began to grew tired of it. Dunno why, perhaps there's no songs in X that I really like. Or maybe because after playing Miracle Girls Festival I just couldn't go back to Vocaloid songs anymore. Speaking of which, I highly suggest you try MGF too NihongoGamer.
When you finish all the songs you need to play more the songs just play he game normaly and one time (i ma not shure i think it is random) tou will unlock the hard an extreme mode and have to colect cristals to unlock festival and special rare modules
I'm... huh? What? You have to play normal to unlock the costumes. That's BS I spend most of my time on extreme and because of that normal is soo slow that I sometimes fail by pressing too much or by ignoring notes.
Well, you have to go through all the songs in either normal or easy, after that, hard and extreme (or other gamemodes) are unlocked in the clouds you can still get modules there.
TheFlutterTree Yeah, after I got the game I now know, still annoying since i'm grinding costumes so i'm not playing free play, and I dunno who is missing what.
***** If you're trying to get all the modules from each of the songs, you can just look at the art covers. But you have to do a festival to get Hatsune Miku v3 which is the module for Love Song And for the Medleys, you have to earn each of the groups modules by their song requests they give you after you fill a cloud prism
TheFlutterTree Yeah, thats what i'm doing, but some people have modules which doesn't show on the art, like swimsuit or Kaito's Christmas module. So that only takes me so far, currently i'm grinding out cloud voltage to get the crystals, I think i'm on 4 crystals for everything.
"They're not interesting characters"
Well, Vocaloids were never given any 'official' personalities so that composers and music writers or whatever would have more freedom to do anything they wanted when writing songs for Vocaloids without caring if it would be 'Off-character'...
So when they have to write dialogue for characters with no personality, well, you can see where I'm going with this...
I love how he compares Miku and the others to the cast of Barney 😂
Being a veteran vocaloid fan the fact that they tried to apply personalities to the vocaloids really upsets me. I believe that fans should be able to apply personalities freely, because different artists write them in songs differently. Ex. Miku can be monotone in one song and sweet and happy in the next.
I don't understand your point:/
I pass the normal gameplay but I can't get the sparkling clear in triple trouble (Of course I am talking about EXTREME level only)
mcpy1212 I dont have the game yet so no I have not haha :p
Awesome video, and wow the video quality is amazing. I can see the pores on your skin :O. Which camera are you using?
Wait, all the PV's are Concert PVs?
Ohhh nooooo Sega. You goofed up.
+Meester Man it's a shame really. I like the concert stage style, but very much miss the music video style from before.
I was dissapointed, especially in AIDEE, AIDEE could've been a really cool pv...
A lot of Diva pvs are concert pvs, X just has that type.
Becoming friends with them has always been a feature.
+Buffy x indeed I think that would be a bit too much of an investment for Sega but who knows? It could be a cool feature for future games!
I think they'll do that for project diva future tone in the ps4. it has the properties of the arcade game so maybe?
Wow. I was honestly just looking for opinions on this game since I've never gotten into the series yet but pleasantly found your video! I really love this casual style review. Feels like I'm just talking with a friend about a game almost. Checking out the rest of your videos for sure! Great Job with the Review!
thanks!
Never played this series but it was recommended to me. Great review! Quite relaxing actually ☕️
I'll just repeat a comment I made on another video about the changes in Project Diva
(WARNING HUGE AMOUNTS OF TEXT AHEAD!)
Thank you.
I have a main issue with the game, but I feel it also has way to many other issues:
1: The gameplay is kind of bad.
What, you say, " I don't like Miku all the time and prefer Len/Rin Kagamine, Kaito, Meiko, Luka Megurine etc...?"
Congratulations, this game completely screws you non- Miku fans over!
-That Rush Note is kind of pointless and annoying at some times( cough* Ultimate Medley cough*)
-Some of the costumes are meh.
For some reason I like it when you're talking about a game and doing something else (like making coffee). I dunno I'm weird.
the song is "Raspberry Monster" The Module is "Raspberrism"
+Bono Fabian oh yeah. Got confused because the fan art I drew was for the module oops! Thanks for letting me know!
NihongoGamer My pleasure :)
I'm not familiar with your channel, so when I saw While Making Coffee I just brushed it off, and then I see you grinding coffee and in my head I was like "The f***? Is he really making coffee? 😂"
An interesting thing to do haha, well pretty nice video!
Sadly i's on twitch and time locations are against me.
I love it how you just review that game while making coffee xD
Hey Mr.Nihongo!
Just wanted to say I'm loving this new review format, laid back gaming discussion with freshly ground coffee beans= perfect! (will have to pick up a thermometer and vacuum cup myself now!)
This is the first video of yours I've seen, you just got a new subscriber! I love the style of videos you do, they are funny yet informative. Not many people who talk about Project Diva on youtube do so in a semi-comedic fashion.
boo~ removing PVs is just LAZY. i always watch PVs on Project Diva F and F 2nd.
i really like your review style
The song you said you liked is called Raspberry Monster, the module for Miku is Raspberrism
You... You are strangely mesmerizing
I really love this series of yours ^^ hope this game comes to the west! The project diva games are my favourite to play on vita 😊
I remember watching this video 5 years ago, wow
I find myself following the dripping of coffee over the game, it's fairly hypnotic :D
I saw more comments about the game and not the coffee and now I feel like I was the only one who was more interested in the coffee but I watched the video twice to know about the game too xD
to be honest a lot of these changes sound like a pain in the ass. I just enjoy playing songs on extreme, good video though.
wow your channel keeps getting better XD keep up the good work
so they moved the songs in to Brackets that' s pretty cool
I wish the Vita was successful... it was such an interesting device!
That's a pretty psVita you got there. Our only choice is the default black one over here
No, North America has new colours and the 1000 had Black and white. The 2000 has I think 6-7 colours, and some vitas come in special skins
Same goes for Europe, except I think the 2000 in EU only has 6 colours
vita is not region locked like nintendo. Just buy one from playasia
+Animeniac00
Fortunately we got future tone soon after and it was amazing :)
Also they love to make their male vocaloids all gayish xD
It's so sad 'cause Kaito and Len dance all girly too (even more on the concerts). I love to see Kaito all girly, but not in all songs!
Crypton should hire people specialized in those details... It's not like they don't have the money to do it (oh but they are big avaricious bastards haha!)
Also it make me laugh a little you mention Raspberry Monster as your favorite song, I don't like it at all and think it get to be popular due the author decease. But, well, everybody has his likes I think haha
What songs you didn't like? I'm courious!
+Lushifer II i love the Mitchie M medley but apart from that I find the medleys aren't well remixed which is a shame
It's so funny how likes change so much in each person
the medleys sound horrible and should have been regular songs. Agreed.
"All in one stage" so it's more of a concert
Working late at night, that coffee looks so good...
You have to complete the story, then you can also get missions which do effects like invisible notes, x2 speed, and such. I quite like it.
Another great view, I enjoy these more casual reviews!
Question for ya NihongoGamer: Would you recommend this game for a newcomer to the series? If not which Project Diva/Miku game is the best in your opinion?
+ChillaxPax I got the same question.
+Memo Even better than the Vita ones? What makes you recommend it?
+Memo I have a Vita and 3ds.
Mirai sounds like fun! Although I don't know about the Chibi artstyle... Oh yeah is there a song list for Mirai? And thanks for the help^^
+Memo No it didn't :c
Thanks anyways! You've made it clear to me. I really appreciate it!
A few comments about the review (it's nothing negative, but just trying to help):
1) I think the uninteresting personalities are trying to be as generic as possible so there is no canon personality (because they are ideally however you want them to be).

(In actuality, you just need to clear all the areas a second time and it will unlock the Ultimate Medley in Event Quest.)
Anyways, the game seems fun. A bit different from the usual. However, tons more grindy. It seems English localization seems to be a bit more necessary. Saw a few twitch streamers stumbling around asking what to do because they couldn't unlock the 4th area, not knowing the game told them to do an Special Live Event. Other than that, just figuring out what gifts they're asking for I suppose.
i like watching grinning the coffee ^^
When u completed all the areas, you get to play it in hard and extreme mode. I prefer the previous system because i get to unlock the costumes whenever i feel like it. Now i have to force myself to use other vocaloids if i want to unlock their costumes, which is not something i like
And I did the same thing as you , Play Hard and Extreme all the time xD
Once you play every song once, there will be a special live unlocked... Play it then everysingle song in the story mode will be unlocked in extreme, and there is also extra and extra extra extreme which add challenge item's for it!
Even for special quest 😂
very good points
subbed for grinding coffee XD
at some point in the game you'll get 2 special lives, once you complete those HARD and EXTREME unlock for area quest
that's mandailing man, mandailing
+Fajrul Emirullah Lol awesome I was wondering how it was written. Can't always trust the Japanese English version haha
I'm upset to find out that the edit mode is gone and replaced with the camera live editing mode thing... It really cuts the game's worth short. Now the songs are so much more limited.
121 likes and
Nice,I'm looking forward to the PS4 Version next month, see if anything got added or changed? As well as the VR Version I heard about?
i think some song in this title have wrong area xD
like streaming heart should be in cool area, and raspberry*monster should be in chaos area
i mean.. look at that streaming heart module, that song, that background :< it's cool
nah streaming heart is definitely a chaos song, going by its lyrics. though i agree with raspberry monster
well after u clear all the area once u will have the chance to play those area with different quest like extreme mode or small target or double speed or target disappear half way
This is a pretty original way of making a review! I'll copy it and bring my reviews this way and I'll provide a link to your channel each video I make with a big ass link to it! do you agree?!
you MUST play easy or normal to unlock in the live area and theres a list of modules
okay I am good , about the music video, thanks
I'm not okay with the Edit mode ...though I mean live edit I hope they will update it with the piapro support. And the game was okay but I felt the same way as you.
Coffee is the best!
I just couldn't believe you can't pet them anymore. Why!? That's one of the main reasons I spent time with each of them individually in their rooms!
Great video nihongo, I got a question do you think I should get a Nintendo 2ds or a new Nintendo 3ds
If your relatively careful and won't drop it get a new 3ds. I'd recommend the 2ds if u may easily break it. Plus new 3ds has faceplates ^3^
+McWhiters 9511 I think I'll get a new 3ds thanks so much :)
Wait, so have they done away with PVs altogether? Because the early trailer showed a Rasberry Monster PV and I was super hyper for that ono!!
I forgot about the game so missed out on the pre order so waiting for more limited edition to be stocked up so I can order it and import it
Hey have you ever considered livestreaming gameplay on twitch or something?
Great review man. Hey i was wondering something. What's your name?
I think the gameplay mechanic seems to be more of a choir. I'm a bit leaning to future tone now. I might side x though later.
Did you know project diva is a line of anthropomorphized instruments called voicedroids made by nintendo japan?
You can switch between touch or analogstick for stars in 2nd f too
Ok, some years late but, I don't know about the vita version, but in the ps4 version they let you play in hard or extreme in the "story" after you bet all the medleys in easy or normal.
All except one.
In project mirai they try to use Miku and the other vocaloids like a Tamagochi. That was a little bit stranger
Have you got all sparkling clear in area quest? I have so much trouble on the triple trouble quests, I need to do some of them using normal break in order to pass them.
Have you played project diva futur tone (ps4) ?
NihongoGamer Well...it is kinda hard for Kaito to be "cute" while he is "handsome" but I can see his problem XD
you raised alot of good point in your video. now I really don't know... oh who am I kidding I'm gonna buy it anyway lol but seriously no major reward for completing songs on hard or extreme?? and it really is disappointing to know you're gonna have to play all the songs on stages. the songs in the previous games that are performed on stage bore me tbh and it's a wasted opportunity for sick ass/hypeass/tear jerker MV.
+ODdm3 I discovered after making this video that you can win costumes in hard and extreme mode but you just have to complete all the songs in easy mode first :)
The omission of the more complex music videos is a shame though yes
Miku
while i work on my homework
You mistaken Raspberry Monster's Module raspberrism for the song name
The game just honestly could have been better in my opinion. The songs were great, but im sad that they took the videos away and just turned them into concerts. And there should have been a lot more songs. It has room for improvement.
does it have "overnight sensation" by Len and Rin?
Man, if this is more story mode then its going to have more context and options to select......Would this be better off if I got the localized version instead?
#NihongoGamer So this is a non related question to the video but by any change do u know some website where u can learn japanese from scratch? Regardless of it's free or paid as long as it works. Beforehand, thanks.
Try Lingualift, It's really good ^_^
can you play digimon next world order sometime ?
I don't speak Japanese so is it worth buying now or should I just wait for the PS4 Western release? Its a shame it isnt as arcadey but I suppose it makes sense since its coming to PS4
+sasuke270 13 Awesome thanks for that! ill wait then!
Just wondering, about unlocking the costumes, is the costume being unlocked related to the song you played or can you play the same song and it will unlock different costume?
+ShienXIII I think the costumes are random. At least that's what I've experienced so far :)
+ShienXIII some new costumes can only be unlocked by playing the related song costumes are random but the element may affect it
I've been a fan of the PD games since the PSP.
Ah ! THIS GAME FRUSTATES ME TRYING TO GET THE FINAL MELODY MODULES AND THE QUEST ONLY PV MODULES
The rare ones are the one for the songs in game.
"The games have objectives, systems, and RNG like a real game. The fuck is this?"- this guy, lol-kek
one question..do you know how to unlock the cute and beauty area?..because i can't get it to budge :(
Is it PS TV compatible at the moment?
Yep
Ayy, let's go.
But i would just use a ps vita, there is alot of random button inputouts.
When you finish all the songs you need to play more the songs just play he game normaly and one time (i ma not shure i think it is random) tou will unlock the hard an extreme mode and have to colect cristals to unlock festival and special rare modules
X is only my favorite game because it has basically all my favorite songs. I also found it easier to play than F2nd
How to change vocls(voice) to luka for some songs ?
The "who cares" though........cool
I'm... huh? What? You have to play normal to unlock the costumes. That's BS I spend most of my time on extreme and because of that normal is soo slow that I sometimes fail by pressing too much or by ignoring notes.
Well, you have to go through all the songs in either normal or easy, after that, hard and extreme (or other gamemodes) are unlocked in the clouds
you can still get modules there.
TheFlutterTree Yeah, after I got the game I now know, still annoying since i'm grinding costumes so i'm not playing free play, and I dunno who is missing what.
***** If you're trying to get all the modules from each of the songs, you can just look at the art covers. But you have to do a festival to get Hatsune Miku v3 which is the module for Love Song
And for the Medleys, you have to earn each of the groups modules by their song requests they give you after you fill a cloud prism
Ah I understand. Good luck ^^;
People are way too harsh on this game
It's good, people who say "Oh, but the pvs!!!! The PVS!!!!!!!" can shut up
Wait what? You said Indonesian Coffee :3
