- Many people have been asking me to do a comparison, and here it is! I try to stay un-biased and use some "scientific" evidence to explain the difference between the two--and it's not a huge difference! Let me know down below what you think and which you'd rather pick up.

I've stopped using sandingsticks and other files almost completely since I got my Raser. Yeah it was expensive but it works like a dream. Only wish there were narrower versions available for those hard to reach places.
I wound up getting one purely as a wishful purchase and I'm honestly content with it. it's been great tbh
This has been my only issue as well. I picked up a Godhand Kamaboko file for those small pieces and tight spaces - but that's another expensive file.
the way you explaining 'technical' aspect in the most laymen possible is simply brilliant. not only it doesn't stops there, you went ahead to translate what does it simply meant at the end of the day.

Glad that I could help! In my personal opinion, I would just get the Raser/Raser+ by itself instead of the whole set. The Balancer blocks are pretty cheap on their own as well, or you could use any nail buffing block as a substitute. But I hardly find the denim sheets useful, so save the money where you can!

I have the Gunprimer gate remover set, and I lOVE it! If I make a mistake with the file, the polishing stick that it comes with, erases my mistakes easily.
I love it too! The only thing I don’t really find a use for is the denim patches… plus, I have plenty of old jeans I could repurpose!
I have the cheap one, and with some melanine sponge and hobby knife the results are really nice! Price is a huge factor for me, as I live in Brazil, where the taxes (when applied) are over 60% the price of a product + shipping.
If the cheaper one works for you, that's a good thing! More money for Gunpla!

@Augusto Souza imagina! mas assim, eu acho que o conteúdo gringo ainda acaba sendo melhor, por eles terem mais acesso aos kits que a gente, então eu acabo sempre acompanhando eles. O que o Febre Gundam fala de uma forma mais relevante é sobre importação e tals.

I have the glass file and works pretty fine. Sometimes I dip it in water and works super fine indeed...
If the regular glass file works for you, then that’s good, you get to spend that extra money on more kits then! 😂

I genuinely love my cheap glass files. The "mild" cutting action leaves more room for my ADHD self, AND I can modify them to a softer/safer cutting action and surface without feeling guilty. For example, sometimes i'll accidentally round corners due to overhang, so to prevent that have 3 that are sealed up with super glue but have a thin nub-sized strip left on an edge or dead-center. This lets me cut the nub without having to worry about damaging the rest of the part due to misperception or me just being an idiot in a rush. I'll probably buy the raser when i get into MG kits, but i suspect by then i will have little use.
Funny enough, I've been using the one glass file that doesn't count in this review for almost a year now. Sounds like I've been going about it wrong and could use the upgrade.
If it works, it works! Ultimately the Raser, in my opinion, is a little bit more of a timesaver. If you’re cranking out kits, it might be worth your while, but that’s if time is important to you when building
Hey! I actually had the same complaint about not being able to see through the RASER, but it turns out the top is just a sticker. Peel that off and it’s crystal clear!
But it's so comfy as a grip! Lol, I happen to have 2 Raser+'s now, so maybe I'll try it someday

whats the point when you can still see the nubmark afterwards?
I sand it down with 1k , 1.5k, 2k and 2.5k after cutting and it's almost invisible

So with raser Glasa file do you not need to worry about different grits? Bcuz I have infini sanding sticks from 400-5000
the key difference between generic files is whether the cutting surface is circular or linear. the linear patterns one only cut in one direction and produces scratches. just be careful that not all generic files are the same
Hah, i bought the sanding stick type glass file and thought all glass files were like that. i had also ordered the gunprimer gate eraser kit but ended up never using it and giving it away cause i figured it was just a bunch of sanding sticks like i already have.
Oh no! If you get the chance again, I would just get the Raser by itself. The buffing block in the kit is nice, but the Recover cloth doesn’t seem to do much for me.

i accidentally drop my raser 1.5 on the floor and it shattered to pieces :(
Honestly id be willing to spend 25 for the raser, it's just I love in Canada, and I ain't willing to spend an extra 25 just on shipping. 🤷♂️ guess I'll stick with my generic glass file

but why have such big nubs tho ? why not flush cut with a godhand ? or any single blade nipper and then clean off with a glass file much faster

do glass files get duller? like u have to replace them as well?
I've had 2 that I use pretty regularly for at least 1.5 years now, and I don't see them needed replacing any time soon

I’ve been using mine for a while now. If they do wear out, it’s definitely way slower than sanding sticks!

Yeah, each of them have their pros and cons. I like the Raser+ because it's easier for me to hold, the Raser 1.5 (now called the Raser Origin) will fit in some areas the Raser+ can't, but for the spots it can't fit in, I just use a hobby knife

Thank you! Honestly, I don't think anyone's owned one long enough to know the answer! I use mine on 90% of the kits I build and still don't notice any decrease in performance

@aMilla which do you suggest getting, raser+ or the 1.5?
I find myself using the Raser+ because it's stronger and fits my (big) hands better. But I do feel that the Raser 1.5 is more versatile because it can fit in a few places the Raser+ can't. In the end, it's personal preference and you can't go wrong with either!

I would say it’s close enough to not make a major difference. The Raser+ does handle thicker nubs a little better though

Wait a minute but doesn't the amazon have bigger holes? Then it should turn out the other way around, that the Amazon glass file should remove more plastic...
The circles aren’t holes, the important part is the space between the circles!

From my experience, it does not wear out. It might not last forever, but it's been a few years for me with no performance reduction

How do you typically clean off the Raser? Just bought one myself!
I'll typically use an old toothbrush to brush out the dust, works especially well with water, too! I've had others tell me they use masking tape to pull the dust out as well
My Gunprimer raser broke in 1 fall. Shit is not wortth the money if it breaks that easily

offhand if the raser gate remover/raser dull what's the best method to resharpen them to work again?
It’s very unlikely that it would dull, I would try cleaning it with an old toothbrush under some water. There may be some plastic dust stuck in the crevices
