A correction is that Singapore does not has a season. There is one just that it is not dramatic. The wind and sun direction change every few months and the rainy seasons change as well. Though it is pretty messed up nowadays due to global warming.

If you don’t live in a Private Condo, don’t own a car, don’t smoke and drink, and don’t dine in a fancy restaurant, the cost of living is pretty decent in Singapore. I know I feel you. I am a Singaporean living in the States, and man! It is so hot in Singapore. It takes me like 1 year to readjust back to the heat. I would say the cost of rent is crazy too in NYC and Boston. I used to pay $2100 USD ($3000 SGD) for a studio in outskirts of Boston
I'm a Singaporean living in Orlando, Florida. And I love the heat there. Summer is so much hotter, and you get the experience of hurricanes, tornados, and typhoons. We just had a tornado warning today. Is Singapore weather dull or beautiful?
I've been here 10 years and agree... I miss good Mexican food. Singapore is not that expensive compared to when I lived in the bay area. Cars definitely are, but public transportation is so good here. In San Jose, CA, I was renting a 2 bedroom for $3,000 USD in 2022. I can get an equivalent for the same amount. Real estate is a bit crazy, my 400 sq ft condo cost me the same as my 1600 sq ft home in San Jose. Good thing is Americans don't have ABSD on their first home. I also save a lot more money in SG compared to US. I love it here.
Renting a room in HDB flat or a whole apartment in HDB block is much more affordable, and depending on the location just as good in terms of nearby facilities. Also singapore in general is clean and low crime - so living in a home that is part of public housing ( hdb) is a good option. Unlike other countries - where some people live in condos for the extra security - in sg this is not a factor. Condo living singapore is linked to status, because less than 10% of the locals can afford it. Just fyi.

The poor in Singapore probably have a higher standard of living than the poor in most other countries. The majority of Singaporeans live in HDB apartments, which are subsidised and built by the government. Would they be called the rich? It’s hard to convince people that Singapore is designed for the rich. It’s quite obvious that the rich can spend more than the poor, but without the relatively small group of “the rich” paying most of the taxes, there would be no funding for social programs for the underprivileged.

I'm local and I still have an issue with the hot weather. I hope to stay in Australia where housing and cars are much cheaper. I missed the 4 season too.😊
Thats crazy to think Australlia being cheaper as that place for a western is WAY over priced I guess i better bring my bigger wallet when i get to singapore hi hi
I lived in Australia for more than a decade and I can tell u it is not cheaper there. House cheaper yes, but interest rate is much higher and u pay with yr after tax money, I paid over 10% when it went up. Currently it is around 6%, your house ends up not being cheap after you pay all the interest. Not forgetting u will need to maintain everything yourself and learn to DIY as tradies are expensive. Buying car cheaper yes, but maintenance is not as mechanics charge a lot more, take longer and parts not as cheap. Road rage in au is on another level. Eating out is unaffordable, u end up cooking all your meals, pack lunchboxes, even if tired after work u have no choice. You will appreciate even sg's foodcourt prices after living in au. And tax! Even though salary was higher, i got less then in sg after tax. Free healthcare is misunderstood as we all pay a percentage of our income towards medicare and if no private health insurance, there is an additional medicare levy surcharge on yr taxable income. And crime? Many break ins, robberies (many armed with machetes and yes guns), car thefts. Better weather? Maybe for some months. But u also hv to deal with 42 degree summer and floods, hail, damaging winds and days of blackouts during summer storms. The grass is greener but there are a lot of bigger shit happening there compared to sg, but many don't see it as they don't read the local news
No. Its far from worth it. Pre 2010 was great, nowadays it's absolutely not worth it. Unless you are getting paid $30,000 a month you cannot live a normal life like youbwould in the US or any other European country. I find that a lot of the foreigners don't want to integrate with the locals, especially the French expats. The cost of living nowadays is not worth it, there is no longer any benefit of being in Singapore. Much better places to be.

The public hospitals are world class and have better mortality and outcomes than the private hospitals, though you might have to wait weeks or even months if it's not something serious.
Salam dari jakarta kawan, semoga sehat selalu...
Indonesia is a beautiful country! I love its volcanos so much!
Hi im Indonesian living in Singapore.I miss Jakarta so muchhh
Singapore is a tiny city nation. Immigrants would bring property prices up
If you are of expat status of course worth it. But if you are from a poor country, it's not recommended
I’m from a poor country originally
@@MaxChernov America are nowhere near poor country
He's Russian. I used to fight w Russian seamen over cheap classical tapes. V impressed. Our seamen only know how to gamble. Really, Max. When I'm trying to bargain n I see seamen walk in, I just grab it price unasked!
You don’t need a car in Singapore
Why the old 48 star of flag? 😁
5000 for 3 room? Maybe move to less prime location would be cheaper
Nah, I like my interlace
Its 5000 for a 3 bed condo in Tampines, how less prime do you want! Also you'll be lucky to pay less than 4,000 for a 3 bedroom HDB....The rent prices have gone crazy this last year or so.
@@MichaelGGarry Well, if condo is what you want, price is expected. How about HDB? The point is you got options and you chose the expensive ones. By the way Tampines is considered mature estate. Matured category are typically more expensive than non-matured. Non-matured estate dont lose out to some matured on amenities and transport conveniences too.
@@Cysecsg As I said, HDB is not far behind. You want less mature estates? Sure - Sembawang/Canberra - 3 bed HDB $3,500-4,600. The prices are this high *everywhere* now.
Dinner for 2 only $70? No way Jose. Min $100 today and its just a regular restaurant. Go to a hotel and it would easily be $150-$200 for a couple. Tough life Singaporeans
Haha saizeriya now has a wait list for lunch. Had escargot alio olio soups focaccia for 25, 3 pax. Tip to foreigners, our heat means body doesn't need to burn food to stay warm. Cut food by half. I see vloggers ordering 3 portions hawker food. Fortunately they only stay 2 days!😅
Sounds like people living in Singapore are rather entitled, if they think that finding it expensive to eat at a restaurant or hotel is a tough life. For most people in developed countries, eating out is a special treat.
u could inspire from "" Sabri Thaï "" itw's
ex : 43 ans, il débarque en Thaïlande avec 1000 euros

Retire Senior from US like stay M'sia low cost..
I want that Nike shirt. Can?
Can. 😁
Can use car sharing
google office
Working for google. Come on, it's peanuts for you to rent.
🥵
Lol why would you pay 5k per month for rent. Just buy a condo and pay the mortgage
If u can afford to pay 5k for rent, you can most definitely buy a condo.
Stamp duty, interest rate risk. There are no fixed mortgages in Singapore.
I think more cons than pros.
Why
@@MaxChernovCons , because gotta live with lots of fellow weird Karens and Delusional folks.
holy shit 3,5k+800+500 a month. I want a google job too
Great place for an expat. Horrible place for a local. Glad I left for Canada.
Why would you want a car in Singapore? That’s the stupidest thing I could imagine.
Sometimes it’s useful, but for sure it’s not a necessity
🤗😇
Please stay in America and dont move to Singapore. You enjoy the freedom of speech. Freedom of carrying guns and best of all, shoot first talk later. Freedom of terrorizing and interfering other countries. Not many countries are able to enjoy such freedom.
No way he was borns in OHIO?
Why not
Guy is a basic NPC.
Fack! 5k a month… the landlord is making bank!
Not worth it. Don't go.
That's just pad thai...
"I was born in Ohio"
You just don't stop sweating ha ha ha
One does acclimatize. Look at the seniors hiking; no sweat!
Dislike for NFT grifting
Why? They are legit company
PROS: Friendly people, great city, no crime. CONS: No Mexican food. No political opinions allowed.
political opinions are allowed. just not screaming or protesting on the streets. But we have regular meet-the-people sessions for you to air your grievances directly to the ministers of your ward.
There are Mexican restaurants but can’t vouch for the authenticity. May be more like Mexican in the US, not in Mexico.
Political opinions are certainly allowed and people are less likely to be cancelled for their political opinions than some other democracies.
I'm local and I still have an issue with the hot weather.
I hope to stay in Australia where housing and cars are much cheaper.
I missed the 4 season too.😊
Thats crazy to think Australlia being cheaper as that place for a western is WAY over priced
I guess i better bring my bigger wallet when i get to singapore hi hi
30k if you have a lot of kids I guess?
Never! Boring and expensive city.
No cmon
It can be boring if you don’t look for interesting things to do. But there are, surprisingly, quite a lot of interesting things to do if you search them out.
