Anyone notice Jaron’s ability to mimic every artist he reviews to perfection? So what I want to know is… when are we getting HIS album! The voice is voicing 😂☄️🔥🧡
Singing, dancing, roller skating and being an entertainer isn't as easy as Usher makes it seem. But he does make it look smooth and effortless from one step to the next. Plus he was in the dry heat of Las Vegas. I applaud Usher. As always thank you for your analysis and providing one so quickly.
Who would’ve known that this guy who contributed to the soundtrack of our high school years would still be around & performing at such a high level. Much respect 👑.
Great reaction and great vocal analyzes. Usher is the best singer/dancer of his generation male or female. He has the unique ability to execute intricate dance sequences while simultaneously executing challenging vocal sequences LIVE (No pre-recorded tracks, auto-tunes, AI etc.) which makes his half-time performance more impressive and one of the greatest of all time due to the degree of difficulty & quality. When you put performance over preference and combine the level of difficulty with quality, Usher's half-time performance surpasses his predecessors including Dr. Dre, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Rihanna's etc. For years, Usher has been the only mainstream singer/dancer that has TRULY committed to singing & dancing LIVE. His performance was physically the most impressive half-time performances I've ever seen. Despite how physical his performance was in nature, his breath-control & vocal stability was extraordinary. Usher is EXTREMELY underappreciated for an artist of his level. Those who dare criticize his performance typically harbor bias and are profoundly ignorant.
Baby Usher Raymond the fourth is not to be played with. He is a master class everytime! I love the way he plays with his registers and chops how he sings certain lyrics so he can deliver the lyrics effectively while dancing. He has so many subtle nuances only people with a particular ear notice and appreciate. Even on his recorded music. Usher be SANGING okay! Please do Usher covering Whitney Houston I Believe In You and Me and Luther A House Is Not A Home
Usher is among the best vocal performers of our century! He is certainly not perfect, but he has proven to everyone that he knows how to do his job. he works hard and this is the result. Thank you Usher for showing the way of perseverance and faith! Big Up Bro!🥰🙏🏾💪🏾✊🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾☀️🙏🏾❤
Another great video Jaron! The band is Jackson State Univeristy's Sonic Boom! Love to all HBCUs. Those are Kappas shimming with Usher during Love in This Club song as well. #HBCUPride
Thank you for breaking this down i honesty thought this was one of the best superbowl performances .maybe imma little bias but also from an art perspective theres so much you can break down from this performance .he was literally trying to tell a story .
I watched this the other day and yeah sure there are definitely parts where he struggles, but he dances his arse off the whole time, kudos to the man, not even MJ could dance and sing amazingly, but it’s a performance
So glad he included the Jackson State University band in his show, especially after all the negative publicity surrounding Jackson, Mississippi over the last few years. So thoughtful!
Thank you for helping our untrained ears to appreciate spme of the musical nuances snd vocal techniques that make the great ones stand out from the crowd./
God gave Usher so many gifts and he is living his purpose sharing with us his gifts. I do hope he is using his success to help his community and people 🙏
Jaron I love this channel it makes me build and grow my knowledge my knowledge in musical techniques, and as a lyric tenor who should I listen to gain inspiration
Usher’s clarity and articulation whilst dancing, jumping and roller skating is everything!! The way Jaron mimics every singer and executes every note and run to perfection. I love the way he analyzes and nerds out over vocal techniques! Had so much fun watching this and I learned so much
Great analysis, Jaron. I think Usher didn’t hit his groove until “You Got It Bad”. There were a bunch of flat spots before that. Incredibly difficult to sing live and dance, so I get it. But he could’ve started with that and made the rest of the songs longer.
I completely agree with you. I said that right away. Granted, I'm no professional, but his voice was a little shaky in the beginning. I attributed it to nerves possibly. He was great overall just had to settle into the moment and relax.
Can you imagine the stress of that opening on the field, though? The dozens of moving parts, avoiding getting kicked in the face by the b-boy🤣, the choreo, hitting all the marks so the camera captured everything? And his reputation riding on everything going well? Once he hit the stage, things simplified and he could relax a bit more into what he knows best. That might have accounted for some of what you detected. He was absolutely superhuman throughout if you consider all that, imo.
Hello from Ireland. Love your analysis. Been a singer and a fan of usher for years. Even when he leaned back, he was finished vocals ...insane vocals when his shirt came off. And what a smile of acknowledgment he got from HER, translation, "Ush, you're kicking ass"
This analysis didn't dissapoint! It's been an eventful week past week or so, so imma keep patiently waiting for Tim Bowman Jr's 45 sec note hold in their Clark Sister dedication. Lol.
I have been seeing comments everywhere criticising this performance and I am floored by them. From 1. He's not singing live, 2. He's trying to be MJ, with the choreography and glove, 3. It's all auto tune 4. Of course the "He should have included Beyonce because she's always the best for halftime shows, and then talking about how Usher is using backing track, which is EXACTLY WHAT BEYONCE DOES, and admitted to for her first superbowl performance. And of course 5. ALL EYES ON TAYLOR. She should do the show... I'm baffled. When did common sense, musicality, dancing and singing, showmanship and being REAL, suddenly not matter? I was around when he started his career. And when he was with Chilli from TLC. Thanks for clearing that all up. I am not a musician, but I studied anatomy for years. I love the explanation you have been giving about the breathing and muscle alignment, lung capacity etc. 😊
Mr. Legrair, I absolutely love you. Your voice is perfection and being a singer myself I look forward to your reviews. Thank you for being the blessed break from this crazy world we live in.
I came back to watch again and I realized not only is Usher’s vocal ability amazing, but his speaking voice during his performances is equally as good. Like I mentioned in my previous comment everything he does is so subtle but yeah, he kills it on his talking parts too with the different tones he chooses to speak in. In this performance I like the talking on Superstar once he got on stage. Another good example is his viral “Watch this” clip from Tiny desk.
New subbie. SO much education from you wonderful explanationnof each clip you analyse, with suvh fine examples, I truly appreciate. As someome who used to sung before illness that has snatched my breath, I am always interested in technique tutorials, and yours is among the best I have seen, thus far. Thank you and love from England 🙏🏾
Jaron, your analysis are so brilliant. Thank you for your talent as well. ❤ You can definitely tell how he's singing and the techniques he's using while dancing also. I wonder if these singers are thinking about all this or is it just happening naturally? H.E.R. ROCKED TF OUTTA THAT GUITAR. YEAHAAAA!!
Sir, idk if I'm more excited to hear the reaction or your singing during the reaction 😂but yes, please give him his flowers! Singing clearly and in position for 30 years!
You should have kept Alicia’s part and explain how singers can recover in the moment of a voice crack. That’s if you had advice regarding that lol cuz Alicia kept cracking on similar notes and riffs 😭
@jmlegrairstudio as someone who studies vocal pedagogy- there was a missed opportunity skipping Alicia Keys. I get you want to be sunshine and Jesus- and also you could have lifted up how Alicia used her instrument even if it wasn’t perfect,
I don't what our generation did to afford 2 committed artists on 4 decades like Beyonce and Usher, committed like legends before them who unlike them didn't always have money and awards like they do.
Usher is beautiful and so is his voice! I just wish sometimes he would slow down and sing at times. One thing Beyoncé has mastered is when to stop dancing and just sing so she doesn’t sound out of breath. His voice is already damn near perfect! But jumping up and down and trying to breathe is damn near impossible. Also, a backing track doesn’t hurt. Even the greats *wink wink* use them.
He used a backing track here for parts he would normally sing. The thing we appreciate most about Usher is how he sings live every time that’s why very few people address the parts you call shaky because we know that’s the norm for a person that’s actually singing and dancing consistently.
skipping alicia is wrong BECAUSE she was trying to defend women in the industry. they always have to be half naked or dollified or ultra submissive or what have you.
she knows how to sing.. i don’t think you’re REALLY listening close enough. paying attention enough to how the very structure of r&b and hip-hop tends to be misogynistic towards all women
and the fact that EVERY SINGLE MILLISECOND is intentional here. pay closest attention to the exchanges between them when they make eye contact and i’m sure you’ll discover how intentional her performance was
