    Singing, dancing, roller skating and being an entertainer isn't as easy as Usher makes it seem. But he does make it look smooth and effortless from one step to the next. Plus he was in the dry heat of Las Vegas. I applaud Usher. As always thank you for your analysis and providing one so quickly.

    Great reaction and great vocal analyzes.
    Usher is the best singer/dancer of his generation male or female. He has the unique ability to execute intricate dance sequences while simultaneously executing challenging vocal sequences LIVE (No pre-recorded tracks, auto-tunes, AI etc.) which makes his half-time performance more impressive and one of the greatest of all time due to the degree of difficulty & quality. When you put performance over preference and combine the level of difficulty with quality, Usher's half-time performance surpasses his predecessors including Dr. Dre, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Rihanna's etc.
    For years, Usher has been the only mainstream singer/dancer that has TRULY committed to singing & dancing LIVE. His performance was physically the most impressive half-time performances I've ever seen. Despite how physical his performance was in nature, his breath-control & vocal stability was extraordinary. Usher is EXTREMELY underappreciated for an artist of his level. Those who dare criticize his performance typically harbor bias and are profoundly ignorant.

    Baby Usher Raymond the fourth is not to be played with. He is a master class everytime! I love the way he plays with his registers and chops how he sings certain lyrics so he can deliver the lyrics effectively while dancing. He has so many subtle nuances only people with a particular ear notice and appreciate. Even on his recorded music. Usher be SANGING okay! Great analysis, Jaron. I think Usher didn’t hit his groove until “You Got It Bad”. There were a bunch of flat spots before that. Incredibly difficult to sing live and dance, so I get it. But he could’ve started with that and made the rest of the songs longer.

      Can you imagine the stress of that opening on the field, though? The dozens of moving parts, avoiding getting kicked in the face by the b-boy🤣, the choreo, hitting all the marks so the camera captured everything? And his reputation riding on everything going well? Once he hit the stage, things simplified and he could relax a bit more into what he knows best. That might have accounted for some of what you detected. He was absolutely superhuman throughout if you consider all that, imo.

    I have been seeing comments everywhere criticising this performance and I am floored by them. From
    1. He's not singing live,
    2. He's trying to be MJ, with the choreography and glove,
    3. It's all auto tune
    4. Of course the "He should have included Beyonce because she's always the best for halftime shows, and then talking about how Usher is using backing track, which is EXACTLY WHAT BEYONCE DOES, and admitted to for her first superbowl performance.
    And of course 5. ALL EYES ON TAYLOR. She should do the show...
    I'm baffled. When did common sense, musicality, dancing and singing, showmanship and being REAL, suddenly not matter?
    I was around when he started his career. And when he was with Chilli from TLC. Thanks for clearing that all up. I am not a musician, but I studied anatomy for years. I love the explanation you have been giving about the breathing and muscle alignment, lung capacity etc. 😊

    I came back to watch again and I realized not only is Usher’s vocal ability amazing, but his speaking voice during his performances is equally as good. Like I mentioned in my previous comment everything he does is so subtle but yeah, he kills it on his talking parts too with the different tones he chooses to speak in. In this performance I like the talking on Superstar once he got on stage. Another good example is his viral “Watch this” clip from Tiny desk.

    Usher is beautiful and so is his voice! I just wish sometimes he would slow down and sing at times. One thing Beyoncé has mastered is when to stop dancing and just sing so she doesn’t sound out of breath. His voice is already damn near perfect! But jumping up and down and trying to breathe is damn near impossible. Also, a backing track doesn’t hurt. Even the greats *wink wink* use them.

    • @Tiana-ig9lk
      @Tiana-ig9lk 9 місяців тому +2

      He used a backing track here for parts he would normally sing. The thing we appreciate most about Usher is how he sings live every time that’s why very few people address the parts you call shaky because we know that’s the norm for a person that’s actually singing and dancing consistently.
