The earthiness of Punjabiyat perculated this gentlemen's diatribe. An era bygone, of his and my ancestors, came alive through his words. Lord Krishna's blessings upon him.
Great job, Awais Meer Sahib. I am also from Lahore, living in Islamabad for the past 18 years. I share your sentiments about the loss of Basant, a hallmark of Lahore. This festival of kites used to be far more exciting and joyful than Eids. Let us hope Basant is restored soon.
Salute you, sir. You have kept the culture and history alive. Preserving such Havelis is quite difficult and expensive these days. Only a man of taste can dare to do this. While mentioning the festival of Basant, I liked two things the most and fully agree as I witnessed that era. Back in the 90s, people from Europe and America used to book their tickets to go to Pakistan to meet their family and friends during this festival. Secondly, there used to be very few kite threads( door) like 5 Reech and 2 Reech.
