Sir you just stirred some nostalgia in me. I grew up in Model Town during the 70s era. Nice little community it used to be back then. Most of the old residences have shrunk to considerably smaller houses. Yes the greenery had its role and I still remember as soon as we would turn into Model Town during the hot blazing summers, very pleasant and cold breezes would hit you as a welcoming gesture. There was a huge plants nursery at the entrance which would considerably drop the hot temperatures as you drove beside it. Remember it was the time when very few cars had air-conditioning in them. As we played in the neighborhood, moms would invite everyone for home cooked lunches. Kids fights were within the dimensions of decency according to todays standards. The famous Dr Akram of 1-G. The Cheap Store for school books and stationary. The solitary cone ice cream shop next to it. DPS and the New School still exist to the day. The A block mosque was the main Eid Gah back then. A huge majority of the local population from that era have moved on. The G Block graveyard is just about completely full which is a testimony of that. Keep up the good work sir. It was a nice glance into the past.
Im from South Africa, was in Pakistan 2017 in mehram masturat jamaat..i was fortuanate to visit modeltown lahore Pakistan is beautifull its people even more Masha Allah I wish to visit again Ameen
Hello respected sir, I am from Hisar Haryana India, watching your video shoot constantly with great interest, in fact nawab of Malerkotla or muslim community living in Malerkotla town and not migrated to Pakistan, I have seen many interview of respected begam of Malerkotla, who is now above ninty.and living peacefully with all community's members and take honour and respect.although maybe their respective relatives may be migrated.nawab of dujana and other royal family must be their,as dujana is near jhajhar, Hisar is a small town but historical City, their is a model town well planned, and buildings made by district board at that time, construction is really unique and same planning and style as in lahore. District board give these 🏠 house in installments to allottees. God bless you all.
Lovely effort..and Prakash Tandon’s book is an outstanding autobiography.. brilliant depiction of how Gujrat, Sargodha, Model Town evolved.. loved how he detailed pre-partition social and communal intricacies..
Excellent vlog. It was the most prestigious and still well planned community. Some of my relatives still, live there. I read some where that some prominent Hindus/Sikhs lived as late as 1952 and was very reluctant to migrate. On the contrary, model town extension is purely annoying congregations of bad and lowly construction and planning.
He has missed out on quite a few aspects. Entering Model Town from Ferozpur Rd, we had to cross a green wicket gate. The road was a single Rd. The roads of Model Town were famous for being Bumpy. There was one known General Store named CHEAP STORE, it was under a huge Bo Tree, right at the mouth of the Model Town Circa. I recall Begun Loharu living in H Block. She was the cousin of Mirza GHALIB. She was living with her son Shahpur. JUST BRUSHING UP OLD MEMORIES. .
It is illogical to claim that Begum Sahiba was the cousin of Mirza Asad Ullah Ghalib, as there is a difference of a century between them. I believe she must be related to another late Mr. Mirza, x-bureaucrat who also resided in "c" block Modeltown, and potentially has connections to Nawab Loharu and other individuals.

The Model Town community in Lahore is home to numerous prominent individuals and families. In the past, it was inhabited by truly educated, professionals and knowledgeable urban class. However, over time, individuals lacking morals and integrity have infiltrated Model Town too solely due to their ill gotten wealth, such as the Sharif family and several other individuals with criminal backgrounds - so to say a "3rd class".

It was an off the cuff unscripted narration., so there is much amiss.

U should write a book about it. I spend many years in model town but never knew the history behind it.
Such a pity the house of your last Princess Sophia Duleep Singh was demolished.
It might be a havaili or palace ..In wich block does it located..? At that time?
