These tents on the top of car are epic: my experience with it: we drove with the car 37 yrs (!!) ago all along the coast of Turkey in summer. Sometimes when it was pretty hot we took our matrasses and slept outside under the stars in the camping yard because in the tent it was too hot to sleep..the other time in France were we camped , some days it was very very windy (Mistral winds) so we better slept inside a houcrse..to stay only one or two nights at the same place that's fine. Otherwise you have to tidy up all belongings in the car again when you will just leave for shopping food and in this case a separate tent is useful.. So I wish you the very best and I'm enjoying to watch your videos..So I want to drop all things and start travelling again😂..best wishes to your great family❤
Did Granite like his ham salad? Souix Falls is a beautiful city. Corn palace is fun. I've been there many times, even as a child on our way to Yellowstone. The souviner shop is fun. The badlands are amazing too. Wall drug is a much needed stop! You literally walked the same steps I have walked. The bison are huge! Cheerios are a good thing to feed the donkey, prairie dog, etc. Sturgis would make me alittle nervous too. Some of those motorcycles were amazing. That guys knife skills at the wok were impressive. So many good eats!! I am glad you got t-shirt shirts!!!! Continued safe travels! Thanks so very much for sharing this with us!! I loved every minute of it!!
I also brought my young children (at the time) through South Dakota, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and all the fun things in between! What a walk down memory lane 😊 ❤ thank you for bringing us with.
I love seeing your state by state adventures. Playful rolling down hill and Cedar enjoying every minute 😁, and Forest saying corn palace smelled like a movie theater and granite saying he was eating corn-fed beef 😆 great videos! 👍 What a fun family too. 🎉🎉
Us, too! We love corn 🌽 Forest just couldn’t resist. I’m surprised he wasn’t too scared of them. Usually he gets excited about animals and then is too scared to get close to them.
You’re welcome! It is turning out better than we could have imagined. So far, we have been in driving everyday, but since it’s only a few hours a day the kids are doing okay with it 🙌
Another interesting video. Nice to see America through your videos. Mount Rushmore, Corn Palace wow. Loved to see your entire family sleeping in the tent on the top of the truck.
Thank you! I am so glad you are videoing your adventure. I am looking forward to every Tuesday and Saturday adventures of your road trip. I've never been to the places you highlighted and they are wonderful! Can't wait for the next video!
I live in Anchorage and I’d love to run into your family when you come back! I have family in Wasilla. What an amazing life you’re living! Lucky kids! Mount Rushmore was a favorite place of mine as a child. I went at 5 and 9. I have family there too.
Wow! Who knew South Dakota had so much going on😮 Sturgis is not something I would ever want to see in person but it was fascinating to watch on UA-cam lol. Thanks and kudos to your kids for being so awesome. ❤
Wow guys, this amazing journey is such a interesting watch. Is Mount Rushmore as big as it seems ? When you think about this journey, not many families are lucky enough to enjoy time this way. Soak it up and these memories will be carried in the hearts of your amazing children forever then in turn will pass it on to their own in their future. What a legacy ❤❤❤
Thank you! Each state is so different and we don’t always know what we are going to do or find in them places we stop. Mount Rushmore is pretty big, but you are kind of far away from it. We actually tried to see it the night before, because they light it up at night. We got there and it immediately started raining. We didn’t mind the rain, but then the lightening started going crazy and we had to leave 😅 We all agreed to see it the next instead.
@@BagsPackedFamily This is why I enjoy you guys so much, it never feels scripted. Just full of interesting adventures, fun facts and all round great watchable family. Love the foodie bits😋 always leaves me hungry. 😂 Bet it looks fab at night lit up, but like you I'd run for cover away from the lightning too not the sort of lighting up you wanted. 🫣😅 Continued safe travels guys ♥️👍
It was nice. Such a beautiful drive to the monument and it was so easy to access. I loved all the flags. Granite studied the flags of the world this past year in school, so it was fun to talk about how each state has a flag, as well.
Good times! Following your new adventures, right behind you Bags Pack family. Right from Florida to South Dakota. ❤ from your Sarawak(east Malaysia ) fan. P/s the Indian food looks delicious.😊

We just drove through South Dakota in February on our way to Wyoming. We stopped at Wall Drug and Mt Rushmore. It was off season so some things in Wall were closed but it was a cool experience.
I live here in South Dakota at the foot of the Black Hills. The dividing line is the Missouri River at Pierre South Dakota. Referred to as East River and West River. Corn Palace East River. Black Hills West River. Hope you really enjoyed our beautiful state. South Dakota windy much, LOLOLOL for sure, all the time! A family that sleeps together, stay's together! This is exactly how we do things! It was a pretty small rally this year, I think people saving up for next years 85th will be huge!!!
When I was a kid we us to go downtown to a WAL Greens. We would spend out allowances there. Kind of just like that place. Buy things on the cheap. 5 cent donuts. Fabric to sew. cloths or curtains. Probably each of us would say they like something different, but I (Kelly) loved the badlands ❤️ We would love to explore Utah!! On UA-cam, it looks amazing!!
@BagsPackedFamily Yeah the Badlands are awesome. As far as Utah goes, we can take you to some places that you'll swear that you're on a different planet.

A different kind of smores is a waffle cone stuffed with marshmallows and chocolate. Wrap them in foil and set them on the fire. Saw this on another UA-cam channel.
We can fit all 5 us in the tent, but it would be better for 3 people. Anytime you see a tent rated for # of people, always subtract one person 😂 Our 6-person tent (from the Wisconsin video) is perfect for 5 people. The 4-person tent (from our Minnesota video) was cramped with all of us. We like lots of space to sleep, especially with Forest who is an MMA fighter in his sleep 😅
The kids are excited to learn about their home country, but they definitely miss their international comfort foods 😋 They miss their friends from school and Forest misses his nanny ❤️

How does this work for people needing the bathroom at night
LOL....didn't think about it until you mentioned. I thought the tent was a little too cramped for 5 people.....can't move while you're sleeping.
We have been camping at campgrounds, so we use their toilets. Though, you do have to climb down the ladder at night, so no sleep walking.
