I realize this a list of studio albums and I almost agree 100% with your analysis but their live album is a must own too and Breach of Lease is taken to another level and any live Lp that starts with drug rescue announcements is a great opening. Peace. Btw, I don't always comment on your posts because I usually watch on my tv but I'm always lurking.

The only problem I have with the "live" album is that there are a couple of tunes that are NOT "live", but are the original recordings, with reverb and "crowd noise" added to make it sound "live". I noticed this the first time I heard the album and wrote to Stevie Hill about it. He wrote me back and admitted that they did that, and that it was Jim's idea because he felt the "live" versions were not good performances. Jim told them, "Nobody will know the difference". The band balked, and Stevie told me that I was the only person that noticed it! So, I guess they got away with that one. Other than that, it is a great album. They were such a fantastic band, on record, and "live". VERY innovative.

Hi Pete. Thank you so much for ranking The Bloodrock albums. After you ranked the Atomic Rooster albums I went back and listened to some of them because of the Peter French connection with Cactus. Some of the organ work reminded me of Bloodrock's Stevie Hill. Yesterday I listened to some of my old Bloodrock albums and thought when is Pete going to rank The Bloodrock albums? I went on UA-cam a few minutes ago and Bam! Bloodrock rankings! I agree with most of your rankings but I would have ranked Bloodrock lower and Passage higher. Don't get me wrong. The first album is great except I think Fantastic Piece of Architecture is too high for Rutledge's range. Makes me cringe a little bit. Just my opinion. UA-cam recommended your channel to me about a month ago. Been an avid fan ever since! You talk about things I'm very familiar with and things I'm totally unfamiliar with. Love it! You've really helped me in my chemo. Thanks again!

Hey Pete! Thank You for your BLOODROCK presentation! I was particularly excited as BLOODROCK is and always has been one of my favorite bands! Very underrated, to say the least. I just recently was able to find a copy of the "TRIPTYCH" 2 CD set. (Just got it about 2 weeks ago). "TRIPTYCH" is an essential for BLOODROCK fans, as like you mentioned in your presentation, it contains the un-released tracks for what WOULD have been their last album, "Unspoken Words". my understanding is that Capitol Records refused to release it, due to "dwindling" sales from the previous album, "Whirlwind Tongues", which I do not understand, as I thought "Whirlwind Tongues" was an EXCELLENT album, and a venture into more of a JAZZ kind of sound, while still keeping the "rock" elements of their previous efforts intact! To be honest, I NEVER DID like the depressing and morbid "D.O.A." at all. Actually, there is an "album" entitled "BLOODROCK 2013", put together by Jim Rutledge and John Nitzinger, I see that the entire album has been uploaded to UA-cam! I have to agree that "Passage" and "Whirlwind Tongues" were both very different from their previous albums, but I thought both albums were great! It gave BLOODROCK" a chance to REALLY demonstrate their musical abilities, and that they were capable of more than just "heavy metal grunge / thrash"! My BLOODROCK album ranking would have to be, in order starting with "worst" to best would be as follows: 1). "2" 2). "Bloodrock" 3). "3" 4). Passage 5). "Whirlwind Tongues" 6). "U.S.A." Thank You again for the great BLOODROCK presentation!

I would rank Passage as #1. Unfortunately, Pete didn't make a key distinction in this video: That Triptych partially due to the the change in band members, but even more so due to an almost complete change in focus was actually in a very real sense a DIFFERENT band than Bloodrock of the first 4 LP's. Starting in the second half of 1972 they went from a hard rock band to a prog/fusion/blues group with still a tinge of hard rock (which I myself prefer).

Friends of friends or friends of this band often feel Pantera was payback. But they had nothing to do with Bloodrock rock. Pete, you should rank the studio albums of Legs Diamond. Pretty cool band!

How do you not call bloodrock USA their best album? They have definitely progressed to a point of tightness and their communication is sublime. the addition of Warren Ham on Sax, flute on sad world adds colors almost reminiscent of traffic's low spark era. Also magic man is one of those dark psych early seventies songs that is timeless

Bloodrock had the GFR management. They were as tight as can be. Whirlwind Tongues suckkkkkkkked.

I had all of their albums except the last one on vinyl. I bought them from the 90's used when ever I found them. The first I heard was Passages.

Great job ranking these fantastic albums. Been a Bloodrock fan from the start. But why didn't you rank "Bloodrock 'Live' in Chicago"? "You know drug rescue is here and they've got a job to do. So you gotta move back." "Boooooooo". lol

Jim Rutledge had a kick ass solo in 1975 worth mentioning, and it's insanely cheap and easy to find on Discogs for all you vinyl lovers out there.

Grand Funk Railroad was my favorite band back in the day but Bloodrock was probably number two. I have all of their releases. Took awhile to even find Tryptich but I did eventually.

Back "in the day" I got into Bloodrock Their self titled "Bloodrock" was my favorite then "USA" I think I've got maybe "2" and "3" the others I was past the Bloodrock phase completely. I haven't listened to them since the early '70's. Maybe I'll look a few of their songs up here on UA-cam to see how they sound today. Bloodrock for me was way overshadowed by Grand Funk...of whom I was fanatical about up until Survival after that I moved on but for a time GF was practically all I listened to.
