I grew up reading Encyclopedias and any history so I knew most of these but UNC did DNA testing of locals in Ocracoke/the Outer Banks and found they all match the "Brown" surname people of Roanoke. Local history backs that the Lost Colony migrated there because of having used up resources.

"Bit-u-min"? Bi-tu-min (long first "I" like bye). No wonder some little kids like eating coal, because the most common type is bituminous.

On the Thomas Edison talking doll, I feel it wasn't a total flop. I see it as a door opened to the talking toys in general
Also on the witch trials with the children. Written in an old trial log books, used dreams to convict them. Saw it on a episode of Pawn Stars..

My grandfather's uncle was a photographer in Victorian/Edwardian England. As photography was in its infancy then, it was rather expensive. He did a lot of memento mori photography. I think the studio he worked was Sunlight, I think.
    It's not pronounced EE-MOO, it's EE-Mew.
