Just got an i5 8gig and it will go from 100% to 70 in an hour and 40 minutes. I also noticed that there are a ton of processes running. Any tips on that?

How many hours are u getting on your i7 surface pro? I'm only getting about 6-7 on mine, even with battery saver on. Is there anything I should change in my settings to get more battery life?

im only getting 2 - 3 hours on my i5 model, i am majoring in computer science and do alot of game dev. when using unity it dies after 2-3 hours of use even with battery saver. help? (currently writing at 5%)

Should i plugged while use my surface book when atbhome or used battery only ???
I tend to plug it in, but make sure that battery gets used at least occasionally.
can I use it while charging?
I can no longer run a battery report (I had been able to up until two days ago). When I type:
"powercfg /batteryreport" in the Command Prompt the below message appears.
"Unable to perform operation. An unexpected error (0x422) has occurred: The service cannot be started,
either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."
I ran Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, Windows 10 system file checker tool, and updated drivers/firmware but nothing helped. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you might have a Windows issue there. Have you checked the services list to see if the Power service is running? Not sure I can help much beyond that sorry. You'll need to get some technical support...

My Surface Pro 5 has a problem with 255% Available (Plugged In) while battery Icon in tray shows empty and battery stopped working completely. How can I fix it?
Sounds like the battery has failed. If it is under warranty Microsoft and see if they can replace it. Otherwise Microsoft do have an out of warranty program or you could try a repairer.

We use Adobe Premiere Pro. My amazing video producer Olivia does the titles etc. I'm not 100% sure what she uses!

Like this video, the data is pretty old. Things may have changed now as I'm sure Google have put a bit of effort into power consumption. They've also put a lot of effort into crippling the experience of sites like UA-cam in other browsers like edge... So this may negate the benefit too.
I have pro 5 for 16 months now, 7 days ago my battery capacity decreased by 0.3% a day later decreased by 1% after another one day decreased by 2% and today by 2.6% so the capacity now is 97.4%, what is the explanation of this decrease, it decreases every day?
After 16 months you should expect some battery wear. That's due to the chemistry of Lithium Ion batteries.

I bought a Surface pro 7 today and the battery doesn't even charge. It's constantly on 0%
Wow. Sounds like you were unlucky today. Take it straight back and get it replaced... It's faulty.
@@oztabletpc - Thanks for replying fast, yes I wasn't sure if it was faulty or not but you are certainly right, it shouldn't be at 0% all the time. I had it plugged in for 2 hours last night and still it remained at 0%. I just hope they don't give me a hard time returning it, it's not my problem though. A faulty battery defeats the whole purpose, I bought it specifically for its portability.
Yeah, I would be very surprised if the give you a hard time over that! Unfortunately Lithium Ion batteries are never 100% perfect and there are many things that can go wrong with them. It's probably good that this issue showed up straight away, rather than after the warranty expired!
@@oztabletpc - They replaced it for me, Best buy are fantastic, that's where I bought it. First they tested it for me and confirmed it was defective then gave me a whole new one and it works perfect!! The battery is blowing my mind, it charges fast as hell and seems to last forever! Thanks so much for the advice, I gave a thumbs up and subscribed

@@oztabletpc Then just buy the least powerful one. I just didn't get why you said you bought one laptop instead of the other because you needed it to be more powerful but at the same time you keep it on energy saving mode the whole time
Sometimes you need the power, so you turn off the battery saver...

please stop making video on the surface pen and surface pro. You are saying these bullshit stuff and make everyone buy the product. Microsoft secretly stop selling the pen due to the intermittent pen inaccuracy when hand is on the screen.
The new surface pen horrible. If my hand is not on the screen, the pen is perfectly accurate, even at an angle. About 50% of the time, if I begin a stroke with my hand already resting on the screen, there is a significant offset of the pen line to the actual tip position. This makes hand-writing nigh impossible.
There are many comment on the Microsoft page. However, Microsoft doesn't response anything when there are 35 pages of negative feedback.
I also do not understand why well known websites are still advertising the combination new Surface + new Pen as the best on the market and none of them makes a real review of how bad really is!
We can continue to write and complain on this forum trying to find the craziest solution, but I do not believe it will make any difference. We do not have any visibility on the net and this is just helping Microsoft to hide the 'big secret'!
Should we try all together to take action for example through social media? Or start contacting known websites to put pressure on the responsable people?
+Pittawat Yang 2 things. I understand that you have a problem with the Surface pen. I suggest that you send it back or get a refund. I do not have this problem and have not been able to reproduce it on any Surfave device that I have access to. And secondly, because you and a few others on a forum have an issue does not make it wide spread. I don't appreciate the tone of your comment and will ban you if it escalates.
oztabletpc you are like the Microsoft support. They keep saying that send it back or get refund. I changed my product 3 times and the fourth time I ask for a refund. Many people have the same problem as me, where they change the product but it doesn't get fixed.

Pittawat Yang great, they've acknowledged a problem and stated that they are working to fix. There's your answer. I still cannot reproduce the problem and suspect that I am with the vast majority who do not experience this issue.
What makes me mad is that they don't reply back or say anything. The acknowledged the problem 5 months ago. So far, there is not reply yet. The community is feeling like they are keeping secret. As a consumer, we expect that the company will say something.
