  • At 6.50pm on the evening of Sunday, August 31 1997, a BAe 146 of the Royal Squadron landed at RAF Northolt carrying the body of Diana, Princess of Wales. It was accompanied from Paris by the Prince of Wales, and her two sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquadale. Although she had lost her royal status after her divorce, she was afforded the exact same ceremonial of a full member of the Royal Family and her coffin was draped in the Royal Standard. Prime Minister Tony Blair, Defence Secretary George Robertson, The Lord Chamberlain and Lord Lieutenant of Greater London were there to welcome her home.

    i was living in the northern philippines (*my home country*) when the princess died. I recall my uncle bursting into my gran's room ( where we were watching something on HBO) and shaking : " the princes died! shes dead!" to our horror; we tuned into CNNAsia and fell in a grim silence with our grandparents, uncle and my little girl self. My nan was crying. What a beautiful soul the Princess was! I'm sure she is at peace.

Watch the last minutes of the princess waiting at the back exit of the Ritz on You Tube! Diana & Dodi & Henry Paul stand close together for 10 minutes and wait on the Mercedes! And if the driver had an alcohol level three times above the allowed limit, then neither Diana nor dodi or the bodyguard did not smell it when they talked to the driver! ?? You're a fool if you believe that! Where is the white Fiat Uno? Where is the motorcycle with the 2 people on it that overtook the Mercedes in front of the tunnel entrance? Where did the female witness dissapear, who drove in front of the Mercedes and notice very bright flash that blinded her in her rear-view mirrors ? Why was the Mercedes examined only once and scrapped immediately? Why does the bodyguard remember Diana had told him when she got in the car that her seat belt was broken? Why was the princess embalmed immediately after her death before the autopsy in England? Although she was flown back to England the next day ?? Peggy Webb Her father had a certified document from the Queens Dr to prove no one had touched Diana before her marriage to Charles as she had to be checked to see if she could have children, so your ghastly vile comment is invalid. And may I also point out Charles was no Saint (Lord knows the amount of times he put it about) and started an affair even on the night before his wedding. Don't blame her for most of what she got up to, especially when that trashy tart of Charles's kept on sniffing around (not to mention sniffing all sorts lol as Stephen Fry has revealed recently). Diana was no Saint but no one is, however she obviously did something right for over half the world to watch and pay their respects for her (not much you can say for Princess Margaret who ironically was burnt to Ashes near a dogs home, perhaps to cover up her own disease if you wish to point the finger).

      ThePresley1989 I was 11 and I remember this day, I was a rubbish sleeper and switched on Channel 4 only to be greeted by pictures of landscapes and somber music and a caption at the bottom basically saying she died. I thought Ch4 hadn't started up yet and my brain wasn't in gear so after a few minutes I switched to BBC1 and was greeted with a huge BBC logo with a announcer saying normal programmes have been suspended and then up pops Martyn Lewis saying Diana's dead followed by the national anthem. That was the moment it sunk in.

    Diana put a face on my childhood perception of a “PRINCESS”. I thought queens/kings/Princess were just real in books, before I knew of her. I remember the 1st time I saw her, was when she fell asleep during an event (she was already pregnant, but no one knew yet). She wore a beautiful lilac dress that made her look like a sleeping Angel, she was a LITERAL

I'm one of the people who didn't watch her funeral over here, because ironically and sadly, my own mother died the following day (Sept. 1, 1997). When my sister died suddenly 2 years ago, I told my niece, who was 24, to try to think of Diana's sons, how young they were even younger when SHE died, and how they're doing fine now. Cherish your loved ones, people. You never know when your time is up.

If a real Princess couldn't have happily-ever-after, what chance did we have? I was almost sick with grief when she died, But her brother's eulogy, when he stated that God had granted us small mercies by taking her when she was so beautiful and when she had joy in her personal life - that was what gave me peace.

    My family was on a cruise ship heading from Alaska to Vancouver so we got Canadian coverage of the wreck and death. I remember staying up most of the night watching the news. My heart is still broken- RIP beautiful Princess!

    I watched Diana marry when I was 16,I absolutely adored her courage & stylish beauty-she was a real lady. Her death was thebiggest shock of my life-unexpected with the safety of trained drivers....out of her control. Dodi is who I blame-seat of the pants bad planning-HIS control.

    20 years ago at aged 13 I knew this was sad, but only now at 33 do I realise just how sad it was. She was only 3 years older than I am now and not far off how old her children are. It makes you realise how lucky we are to never know when death is coming. If you could go back in time and say to Diana, "You're going to have a wonderful summer with amazing holidays with your children and other people, but you're going to die at the end of it in a car crash and come back to the UK in a coffin" that would be terrifying to anyone. And I don't mean to sound flippant, but when I look at pictures/videos of her I still cant believe this vibrant, caring, beautiful woman has been dead and rotting in a grave for 20 years, all the while knowing she has missed so much and could've achieved so much more had she made different decisions that horrible night.

      @TheRenaissanceman65 do you honestly think that classified information will be released. It would crush the royal family and perhaps pose a security threat.

    • @KrisWolf4
      @KrisWolf4 3 роки тому +2

      @TheRenaissanceman65 I'm glad you have an inate trust in the government. They will not release anything that would be a threat. I don't care how long or involved the inquest was into her death. In any establishment public knowledge is on a need to know basis. JFK and the controversy around his assassination, the powers that be will never publish the facts surrounding that investigation, why, because it would be a threat, even after over 50 years.

    • @KrisWolf4
      @KrisWolf4 3 роки тому +2

      @TheRenaissanceman65 obviously you know nothing about me. I never said I don't trust anyone. I just don't trust government or the establishment, why, they have given me ample reasons not to.
